The my original book somehow walked out of my house a few years ago. Enough said.

I have all my HS and 2 from Jr. College.

I have a couple of my high school year books. There were no year books for the country grade school that I attended, just the school photo usually taken n April a couple of weeks before school closed for the summer. I have 2 of those.

What I do have is all 8 of my final report cards (grade school) and one of these is special. Its my second year of school in 1943. War had broken out and depleted the country side of renters and strugglers left over form the great depression. These hapless people found war time employment and had removed to regions of better paychecks. Due to a quirk in local demographics, my sister and I were the only students in school that year. The school board had wanted to close the school for a year when a few more students would be enrolled. My mother requested, maybe begged, the school board not to close. She had only a 6th grade eduaction and knew the value of basic education. She argued that by closing our school for only one year was too much of a price for us to pay in our future years. It would set us back one year and that could be critical.

The school board found a teacher in training who had passed all classroom requirements, but had not finished a year of internship. She got the job. To make our grades official, the county superintendent of schools supervised her work and signed our final grade card. He did not "boss' her, but did approved the class plan she submitted and then reviewed our final exams and the final grade she had propsed.

At the close of the school year, the superintendent approved our grades, approved the intern's year of teaching, and she became an 'offical' teacher.

That was the best school year that my sister and I have ever had. We had essentially a private tutor.

I believe that we were the only ones that year in the county whose grade cards were signed by the county superintendent of schools. I have kept that unusal grade card.

I had my high school year books.....had the first year DH and I were married he threw them away.
I was so upset....he apologized but I noticed he still has his mother's college year book.
We have been married 51 years so I guess I got over it.

I have a couple, all my high school ones and one or two from middle school and elementary school. Class of 2001.

I'm jealous! I threw out my yearbook when I got married. What was I thinking?? I have a standing search on eBay if one should get listed. I did buy the 1938 edition, just for fun and historical value. I'm not quite that old. ;-)

After reading Monica's post I Iooked at Classmates.com, but they don't have my year.

I have mine but dont know where they are. I still keep in touch with a gal I went from K to 12th grade she doesn't have a computer tho.

I have mine from my senior year. We didn't have the money to buy every year.

I have mine. I had one of them out the other day, actually, looking someone up. It's sure handy to keep them when you still live in the same town where you graduated from high school. 40 years ago. :)

I have 9th 10th 11th and 12th plus three from college. Husband has high school one and college one. His Penn State one was five times the size of my college one.

I get email from classmates.com, and I thought all year books were available. I saw mine there.

Still have mine and my DH. We went to HS together and graduated together.... well, he actually was the year before me, and we had half-year graduations, the last one being ours, in January 1953. He claims to have 'waited' for me! We kinda have been "going together" ever since.

Have all my high school, jr. high and even 6th grade yearbooks. Even have two of most of them since my husband attended all the same schools as I did.

Since I ran our high school alumni site for years my yearbooks are always out and within reach. Several years ago I acquired off eBay another yearbook for the year I graduated. It belonged to one of our school administrators. It just had her name in it but no autographs. I sent it to Classmates.com and they scanned in every page and sent it back to me with a thank you note.

Yes I do and university also. I was president of the year book staff, I loved it. We had so much fun with it. I loved going out to the community and selling ads. We managed to snap some great candid pictures of the teachers and students. Loads of fun.

I have a lot of them. From the first grade to grade 12. My Mother would buy one for the family and then my sister in later years divided them between us. I too am still in touch with many of my classmates. Even a few go to church where I do. Most I went to school with for 12 years. The year was 1953, Walnut Grove School.

I have mine from 7th-12th. I think I know where they are. I haven't looked at them in several years. I have class pictures from elementary.

I have my High School yearbooks for all 4 years and also my College yearbook. I love going back and looking at them! Great memories!

I have mine.

Junior and Senior high school, but not University :) And all my awards. In box. What I really kept was band trophies. They would give us a plaque every year. It had one of our formations from the Contest of Champions where our Governor's Cup was presented. We won it a few times.

The only year book issued in my small school was the 'senior yearbook'. I did as Alisande did. Destroyed it soon after I got married to 'prove to my DH that he was my only love'. How dumb!

Now school pictures, I have every year from first grade to 12th. There was individual pics each year as well as a whole class picture. I love looking at those group pics and remembering each and every classmate. There was just 54 students in my graduation class. Most of them were classmates from first grade on.

All 12 grades were in the same building. Class rooms for grades 1 through 8 were on the second floor of the big square building. Grades 9, 10,11, and 12 were on the ground floor and the basement level. No such thing as an elevator , can you imagine that today!? My oldest daughter went to first grade at that same school, and had the same teacher that I had. The school was closed the following year.

We didn't have yearbooks back then until we reached high school; at least not where I lived.

First 6 years in Washington, DC. Seventh grade in Vienna, VA. High School in Fairfax County, Va. I graduated in 1942 and I have that yearbook. I also still have my class ring, which one of my brothers paid for. I was the youngest in my large family and the only one to finish high school.

It was a different world back then.

Over the years I belonged to the Pep Club, Interior Decoration Club, Library Club, Riding Club, Glee Club, Home Economics
Club and Tree Study Club.

The comment with my picture: "Is a peppy individual.
Her eternal smile makes a definite dent in anyone's heart. Loves fun in any form."

I have let that be my attitude ever since.

I'm surprised no one else has included any thing personal other than awards.

This was 1942; the class had annual reunions for 60 years until there were not many left to keep it going.

In elementary school we just had class pictures. I have most of those. In junior high through high school there was one each year until senior year and everyone was in it. So I have all of mine through senior year and I still have my younger son's too.

I don't have any of them, and never have. I even had a goal of making sure I didn't appear in any pictures in the yearbook.

If I could find my HS yearbook (Senior Year), I could tell you what my yearbook editor title was. I was a sub-editor of something and also on our HS newspaper. (Almost 4000 enrollment my senior year before a second township HS opened. It was a madhouse.)

My classroom photos from kindergarten through 8th Grade are probably in the same box. Maybe in the attic...

I have all of them from 7th grade through high school. I also have some of the ex's around as well. Since I knew him since high school, I know a lot of the people in his college and even grad school year books. I am sure my kids yearbooks are around here somewhere, too. Under my picture senior year it said "Success comes to one who works faithfully." I have no idea what that had to do with me. I noticed another girl had the same quote and we were not at all alike. I think the yearbook staff was running out of energy and ideas!

I had sophomore, junior and senior yearbooks....over the years, and moving around, I only kept the senior one, from 1965, yeah I'm that old....so is hubby, we were both seniors together, at the same high school...

I also have my mother's little autograph book where her friends wrote little ditties like, "When this you see, Remember me."

But I worked after that and bought the next three years.

I was art editor my junior year and editor of my senior year....I couldn't not get them after doing so much work on them.

For you that didn't get a book....you should check with the school to see if they have any of the books left.

In 1963 I was able to get a 1954 book for my cousin who couldn't buy one when she was in school. I gave it to her for Christmas that year. She was thrilled.

Also I think there might be an on line place where you might be able to get year books.

And if all else fails sometimes you can find what you are looking for on Craigs list.

I found my husbands senior year book at an auction 40 years after he graduated. again...Christmas.

Pekemom, we are both class of '65.

We had school pics in elementary school, I don't recall how many I had, but remember one when I was in early years, that I saw not too many years ago. It was memorable for one of the senior girls lived beside a cemetery a little over a quarter of a mile away ... and early one morning in late spring her Dad shot her and her older brother, their mother, who'd run out of the house and got about 60 feet away, down by their well, and I think that it was her mother's mother ... with a heavy rifle used for shooting deer. Then himself.

It was in the early '40s, when World War II was on and the hired man/men on our farm had gone to war. The war started in '39, when I was 10 and what Dad and I and a couple of younger brothers got done ... got done ... and the rest didn't.

Dad had planned to go into their place that morning when he took our milk to the cheese factory nearby, to find out whether June's older brother John, about 16, could come to help on our farm part-time during that summer ... so felt really thankful that he hadn't gone in there at that time.

Willie's farm was not large, he'd had financial troubles during the thirties, had part of the roof of a barn blown off in a wind storm. Dad and some of the neighbours had helped repair it earlier, and when some of the other elementary school kids and I walked into the barn on the way home from school, as they were jacking up some of the frame of the barn, one of the propping sticks that had been holding up part of the roof temporarily, fell to the floor about four feet from where I was standing. Dad, quite upset, as you can imagine, ordered me to go home - right then!, in no uncertain terms!

Willie had been caretaker of the cemetery (on his farm)and I think may have used some of the maintenance money for his own use. He'd bought a cow from someone, she'd died and he couldn't pay for her. The former owner was taking him to court the morning of the shooting, and they could see where he'd sat on the edge of the bed all night.

Sometimes misplaced pride leads us to do some awful things.

As for high school yearbooks, I had some of them for a while, but I've lived in 22 locations (as I found out some time ago when the question was asked here on the KT) so I don't recall when or where they disappeared.

Dad had bought a cow from neighbours who'd sat in the pew ahead of us at church for years, and within a short time she died. Soon after, that man, a bachelor and his father drove into our yard one evening and offered to pay for half of the cow. Dad refused the offer, saying that she'd been in good health when he'd got her, that they'd sold her in good faith and he'd received her in similar fashion, and the fact that she died soon after was just the luck of the draw.

But - it increased his level of respect for them.

After Dad quit farming in our area and went to the west temporarily, where he planned to move, the next brother below me (with our dog) was farmed out for about a year to that man and his parents and sister who lived with him, and my youngest to the home of a farmer which that man's sister had married, who never had children.

When I returned to this area, upwards of 30 years later, the sister gave me a picture of my brother and the dog, both of which she held in some affection. The other family held my youngest brother (the one who took over Dad's farm) in their hearts with much affection, as well.

Interesting ... the trail of memories that a simple question relating to our childhood may engender!

I do. I had one of mine out yesterday looking at it. I was at my high school reunion in October and had the best time. I even bought a 1975 year book that I was missing and had all my friends I was with at the reunion sign it. I keep my yearbooks on the attic stairs and my friends and I often bring them out. The yearbook I bought was the wrong one, I needed the year before so now I have 2 1975's haha.

At the reunion we were given a disk of every yearbook from the last 50 years.

I have my 4 from high school and 2 from junior college.

Senior year only, 1955, couldn't afford to buy the others, but do have some class pictures from elementary school.

I have all of mine. They're still in my closet at my dad's house. I have to laugh when I look at the 80's hair & clothes.

I have my eighth grade graduation photo as well as my Junior and Senior yearbooks.

I also have the tassel from my graduation cap, as well as my student ID card! Tassel is faded, but still recognizable. The rules on the back of the card for off school parties are fun to read now. Especially the one where "female students must be appropriately attired, no slacks". You could be asked to leave for any infractions of the rules.

I have several of mine from K-12 all from the same small school. I have each of my grade school pictures as well as my report card from every year.

I have mine and I bought some of my dad!s and mom's books on eBay. After my mom died, I gave them to one of her high school friends, who in turn gave them to the geaneology department of our hometown library. I need to contact the library and offer my dad's books, although I'm not quite ready to give them up. I saw photos of my dad I'd never seen and an ad in my dad's senior yearbook for my grandpa's luggage store. I was in the copy department for all my yearbooks and editor my senior year. Fun reading after all these years. I bought a yearbook on eBay from my high school 26 years before I graduated and was astounded to see how many of the faculty that I knew were on staff back then.
