try taking fish oil daily. I have ADHD and this calms me down. Exercise is another thing you might need. There is an amount of exercise for altering mood, and it is every bit as good as most drugs. The main side effects are you sleep better, look better, and calm down. Generally the amount you need is 20 minutes a day to start of fairly brisk walking, swimming, weight lifting, running, whatever you want to do to keep moving. As the Buddhists say, magnify small progress. The next thing is B vitamins. These are essential for nerve function. The 50mg doses might be a good idea for you. Also you need magnesium to make them work. Good sleep is not possible to any real extent if you have mineral deficiencies. Take a calcium/magnesium suppliment before bed. The amounts for both should be about equal. 500mg or so. Make sure you are getting enough B12. This can take some experimentation, as many people do not digest it well. Start looking at what you do and find out what you need for your lifestyle in terms of all the vitamins. Food no longer supplies those because the soil is depleted, and plants can't give you what they don't get themselves. This is true of animals as well. You will find that your life is oh so much more bearable if you do these things.

When your pet suffers from stress or anxiety, try a combination of the extracts of Oats, Valerian, and Chamomile. Rub a little Lavender oil near the animal's muzzle, or place some on a cotton pad in the pet's bed or in his sleeping area. And remember that if you are stressed, the animal will be too, so sniff a little of that calming Lavender for yourself as well. These measures will only work if the anxiety or stress is temporary or very mild. If you pet suffers acutely, he will need conventional medication. My little doggie suffered very badly from anxiety disorder, especially in her last (17th) year of life, though she'd had it for 3-4 years before it became disabling. It got so bad that she'd had a fit, or a stroke, or a heart-attack if separated from me by more than a metre or so. DESPITE the meds she was taking! In the end, it became so distressing, both for her and for me, that the vet advised euthanasia, and I took that advice. That level of stress is caused by dementia, for which there is no cure. Drugs helped for a while, but with increasing age and severity of the condition, her quality of life was at ZERO. She had pain, she became increasingly blind and deaf, her muscles were affected. Etc. We did the kindest thing, and while I miss her, I'm glad we literally 'put her out of her misery'. I tell you this to prepare you for what you may be facing.

WELLLLLLL, in the beginning, Sage was FAR from a stress believer but now (he'll be 2 next month) he's wonderful. The only problem is that I think he believes his father was a toy poodle rather than a standard poodle. He just doesn't get how big he is! Most male goldendoodles end up in the 85lb range, Sage is 104lbs and he's not overweight. He wants to share the bed with DH and me. But he's trained well now and as soon as we turn out the light or the tv, he jumps off. He's GREAT with my kids and every time I take him out we get a swarm of children in our yard wanting to play with him. He is the BEST dog we've ever had, smart, clownish and gentle and I would highly recommend a doodle to anyone! And just because I'm mean (and a proud doodle mom)...Sage even smiles for pictures!
