9 Ways to Lighten Up Your Interior Design
Take a breath and have a laugh; life is too short to stress over decor
All right people, we've had a week to rev up our New Year's resolutions and get to work. Things are probably slowing down and you may be feeling a bit down about not meeting all of the unrealistic goals you've set for yourself. Stop beating yourself up or panicking about what looks perfect with what, and have some fun with your decor. It's not that big a deal. I've found a few images that will hopefully make you laugh and stop taking it all so seriously.
Who cares if everyone thinks you're nuts? Now I'm not advocating driving a car though your kitchen island, but feel free to think outside the box, stop fretting over resale values and do that outlandish thing you've always wanted to do.
The only person who needs to like your decor is you. Perhaps the person who has a bathtub chair in his living room is the only one in the world who loves it, but you know what? That's the only person who needs to, and you know he gets a lot hilarious conversations started with this thing.
If you want to worship a favorite idol in your house, just do it. This room was inspired by Jane Fonda and a love of lavender.
Bathroom humor is acceptable. We're not going to judge you for getting a bit cheeky over the toilet.
Hang that favorite sign that's gathering cobwebs out in the garage. Who says all of your art has to come from a gallery? Anything that puts a smile on your face is worth hanging on the wall.
See, even the Parker Palm Springs let Jonathan Adler pull this trick. One man's lobsters from Waterman's are another man's drugs I suppose.
If you're nervous to make a big move that might seem a little odd, use an accent piece. This person gets to sleep with Bruce Springsteen every night (I think that's who is on the pillow; correct me in the comments section if I'm wrong).
Take his and hers to a whole new level. This couple never confuses whose side of the bed is whose, thanks to these wackadoodle cartoon heads.

My Prescription for Anti-Depressive Living by Jonathan Adler
More recommended reading: I never get sick of Jonathan Adler's "My Prescription for Anti-Depressive Living." The writing is hilarious and even though you've probably seen the images a zillion times by now, they never fail to pop right off the page and make you say "WOW!"
