How to remove Coffee smell from desk!

I just dumped an entire mug of coffee all over my desk!!! I have it cleaned up now but it stinks in here. I've wiped everything down with damp cloths and dried with a towel, even sprayed with Fabreeze but it still smells. YUK!

New rule, "NO FOOD OR DRINK AT THE COMPUTER!

The dogs just scattered. Don't even know where they are at the moment.

I did worse. I choked on a sip of coffee and splat it out on the keyboard, which fried it. About one tablespoon of coffee was all it took!

Put a bag of charcoal in the room, opened. The smell will be gone in a few days.

Sorry to ask but are you sure the closets are not cedar lined? For perfume/soap smells just leave the closet door open for awhile, maybe put a fan in the doorway to the closet and let it blow on low.

I think Vaska has a fragrance free detergent that should remove the odors. It works for me and my smelly yard clothes. Plus when your clothes are dried after using Vaska, they just smell clean like fabric with no fragrances at all.

I had the same situation with a dresser. Nothing I wiped it out with worked. So I got a couple odor absorbing tubs, placed them in the empty drawers and every few days I'd rotate them to a different drawer. I left all the drawers cracked open maybe 3" - 4" because the odor absorbers work better with some air circulation. It took a few weeks but it did get the perfume smell out. I use odor absorbers in rentals between tenants so have tried several brands. (Note: these aren't air fresheners that mask odors, they actually do absorb them.) Natural Magic is my preferred brand and what I used in my dresser. And I use the gel form, not a fan of the beads. Citrus Magic brand is also good. Avoid dollar store brands, they are a bit less expensive but don't work as well in my experience.

try a bowl of vinegar or a burning candle. The candle works on smoke, not sure about coffee.

Did it get into carpeting or something? I've never heard of coffee smell remaining on hard surfaces. Coffee spills all the time in restaurants, and I've spilled coffee more than once in the kitchen. Personally I can think of far more offensive odors than coffee but that's a personal thing I guess. The smell will probably dissipate over a short time but charcoal, vinegar, vanilla extract (pure), baking soda and/or unscented candles will help with odors. Vent the room too. Or just use a cleaner on the desk, wipe with a vinegar solution or something. If it's coming from the desk that should take care of it. Otherwise you'll have to track where the smell is originating.

Did you just use a damp rag, or a soapy damp rag? Use Pinesol or Mr Clean. Even dish soap in a bucket of water to clean it. I've spilled plenty of coffee and have never had lingering odors from it.

Ooh, I hate spilled coffee. No matter how much you wipe, it still stays sticky. *shudder* I hate sticky!

Dances - who once spilled a glass of ice water on the cat, and the cat hid for two days under the bed LOL.

I did the same thing, TWICE, spilled coffee on my keyboard. The first time, I immediately turned it upside down and shook out the liquid. It worked fine after that, except the space bar stuck. I guess it was the sugar and milk. The second time, it couldn't be saved. I ran to my boss (a computer geek). I was practically crying, I had ruined an office machine. He said , don't worry, they only cost about ten bucks. He went into a locked cabinet behind his desk and gave me a brand-new keyboard.Hope yours is okay!

If you get coffee on a keyboard, unhook it, then turn upside down, tip it this way and that to get it all drained, let it sit for some time to dry out fully. Usually it'll work again.

Some folk running a computer store in, I think it was Texas, said they'd have several get swamped in the basement, let them dry out thoroughly, they worked O.K. after.

ole joyful ... who sometimes splashes the monitor while reading some of the jokes around here: moral; don't read/listen to jokes while sipping coffee

Well my keyboard is fine. I can still smell it a little bit. I wiped down the desk with vinegar and water and that seemed to help quite a bit. I have the feeling I've just missed a spot. It really flew all over the place!
