I shopped there this weekend,and, with the coupons, saved a bundle. What impressed me the most, was how they got people through the check outs in record time. It was a long line when I was ready, but they had people directing the traffic and it went swimmingly.

I went to Chico's on Black Friday. I bought about $500.00 worth of clothes for a little over $100.00. One thing was a pair of white jeans I wanted all summer but didn't want to pay $79.00. I got them for $15.00 so I'll be all set for next year. I bought a pretty suede look jacket, a sweater, a shell and a blouse. The shell and blouse were regular priced merchandise but on sale for 35% off because of black friday and I spent over $100.00 and had a coupon for 50% off the highest priced item so the blouse instead of being $70.00, was $22.00. I love a bargain!

I was at Kohl's this weekend and I too thought the regular prices were ridiculous. Don't tell me that many people would pay $35 for kids footie pjs or $19.99 for a 4x6 inch Christmas frame. But, the bottom line prices were good and I had an extra 20% off.

I also thought they did an excellent job with the checkout lines. I wish all stores did that - one line with someone directing traffic.

Question about Kohl's coupons: I get almost daily sale emails from Kohls since I opened a charge there, but I seldom shop. Are those email coupons (or pin #s) additional savings to the ones in the newspaper?

I cancelled them just this week, but can re-up if they're worth using.

Most of the time you cannot double up on the coupons. The exception is the Kohl's dollars, which can be used in addition to % off.

I was in Kohl's the weekend after Thanksgiving and I have never seen so many people working there. They actually had people there walking around offering to check prices for you and yes the checkout was the best of any of the stores on Black Friday. Usually in Kohl's you can't find a salesperson in any of the departments.

I went to Kohl's and had some coupons and then their cars and trucks were on sale plus the coupon, and I was able to get them for half price. I bought a ton of them for DH to give to Toys for Tots.

Also found the fancy slow cooker DS wants, and it was on sale plus the coupon, so I had a good savings there of $40.

When does Kohls ever charge their "regular" price? You know on their little signs that show the regular price and the sale price? I think the "regular" price is just a psychological thing to make you think things are on sale when they're really not. I can't remember ever buying anything there that was sold at the regular price. I think their "sale" prices are decent but the regular prices are ridiculous.

Georgysmom, is Chico's the manufacturer that uses the weird sizes: 1, 2, 3, etc.? I love their pieces that I've found at the Salvation Army. I didn't know they had a retail store.

Kohls has been fined in our city more than once for jacking up the prices, then having sales. You have to watch them closely to make sure you get all the discounts you are suppose to get. We had 3 discounts (%) off and only got one. I took everything back even though they offered to make it good.

I like our Kohl's store.. as long as I have a coupon. Went there Friday & got $75 boots for me & $60 New Balance shoes for dh for a TOTAL of $47.91 using Kohl's "bucks" & a 20% off coupon. I always wait for their sales.

Oh, I've def. seen racks of clothes that were not on sale. I don't think I've ever bought full-price there. I know if I wait a week...

I was in Kohl's today, too. Some pants I liked were on sale, but they didn't have the color I wanted, so I placed an online order tonight (with the 20%-off coupon, plus there's free shipping with no minimum). I'm going to another store tomorrow, and there's a Kohl's nearby, so I think I'll stop in to see if they have the pants, too. (There was a mailed Kohl's ad I rec'd recently that had 3 20% off coupons, for different dates.)

I did notice today that the customer service line was about 10-deep. I'm not sure if there was more than one customer service employee.

I know I'm probably in the minority here, but I'll be glad when the clothing with all the holiday themes on them are gone -- they have a lot of that stuff in the women's dept. Not exactly stuff I can wear to my office...

I can't stand Kohls and the reason will be strange to some. Here in MA. the store closet for me is designed in a circular layout.OMG the worst store to find what dept. you're looking for. I tried getting used to it and then got so sick of walking and walking around eventually finding what I was looking for that I just stopped shopping there period.Is this a common store layout or perhaps it's just this one near me.

I don't like Kohls, TJ Max or Burlington, to many clothes every where. Shopping for clothes is nothing but a chore for me. I do go in those stores occasionally to check out the home decor items.

Susan, Chico's does have its own stand alone stores. They also have outlets. It's my favorite although a little $$$.

Gemini: My Kohl's store are ovals, too, with the escalator in the middle. My thinking is that the design is meant to be more of a "stroll around the block" than going up and down aisles like a WalMart or Target.

I think department stores are worse -- there are "pockets": petites tucked here, women's sizes there. I always have to look at the maps near the entrances or escalators.

At Kohl's, the layout only bothers me when I just want to go to the ladies' room and I turn the wrong way off the escalator!

Vala: I agree with you about Burlington, at least -- racks are just crammed together. But at least they finally started accepting returns a few years ago.

I shop at Kohls but I agree about the sales not being real sales. Almost nothing is ever sold at "regular" price.

But there are several things I do like about Kohls. Since I have their card (which I always pay off and never caring a balance on) I get extra sale coupons many times a year. And they are good for everything in the store, there are no exceptions like so many other stores. I get one for 30% off at least once or twice a year.

Also returns are very easy. I can return anything for any reason and I never need a receipt if I used my card.

The last time I shopped Kohls I had a $10 off coupon. I've gotton some great deals there!

JCP does the same thing. I wait for the $10 off coupon then hit the sale racks! :0)

My husband and I both have Kohl's charge cards in our own names since we are both big shoppers at the store. As such, we get twice the number of dollar off coupons.

I love Kohl's! I don't buy anything unless it's on sale no matter where I shop. When I found out our DGD was getting married, I started shopping sales. You know me, I mainly wanted her to have some good kitchen stuff. I was able to get her a good set of pots/pans (18/10 stainless), a set of 24 glasses (8 each of 3 different sizes), a set of knives in a block, a great set of Anchor Hocking bake ware with every size baking dish she'll ever need, and a set of Oneida silverware for eight that had a bonus with it so now she has service for 12. (Harry was ready to keep that for us LOL!) By being patient and waiting for sales and comparing prices everywhere I could find, I got all of that for a little over $300. Which is what the pots and pans alone would've cost before the sale. Most of it came from Kohl's.

I love Chico's but I'm too short to pull off their elegant look. Plus they don't have petites. They sure have pretty clothes, though.

Hi Patti, Chico's does have petites, but they don't call them that. They call them "short". I'm not sure about tops, but I know that a lot of the bottoms (pants, shorts, skirts) come in "short".

I'm a Chico's shopper, too. Love them. I almost never buy anything there unless it's on sale, and you can get some great deals.

Kohl's is an expert at marketing. Do we really think all those items are really "on sale"? Putting things "on sale", makes people return to that store to be sure and get the "bargain". I like Kohl's, but I see it for what it really is. And when they say "you saved $100.00 today", I want to say "Yeah right."

Foggy, I think most people recognize that it is "marketing", but the reality is that you do see the same products sold @ Kohl's in other stores for that same "marked up" price. So I'll bet ~some~ people aren't price conscious whether at Kohl's or other stores & simply buy what they want, when they want it, without any concern that they are paying an inflated price.

Me? If it ain't on sale, I don't need it & I don't buy it, just like most other posters in this thread. And it's always nice to tell the dh how much you "saved" as opposed to "spent". LOL

Kohl's regular prices are high. I only buy good sale and coupon combinations. It does seem like everything there is discounted at one time or another. I was looking for slim jeans for our 4 year old grandson this fall. Gads, they wanted $42 or $44 for a pair. But then they were either marked down a little or buy 2 and get half off one. I ignored that and bought another brand that came in slim with a more reasonable price. Have you ever priced pjs for toddlers?? Outtasight.

Alisande, yes Chico's is the one with the crazy sizing. I've only bought two things there that were not on sale. One because I loved it and was afraid that when it went on sale they wouldn't have my size and the other because I needed it to complete an outfit. The sweater, I could have gotten for half the price if I had waited, the belt I paid $80.00 for and it went on sale for $9.99! Oh well, I've gotten many bargains there....just have to be patient. It helps to have it close by.

Last year I did a lot of Christmas shopping there and I supposedly saved $900. There's no way I had that much merchandise in my cart, let alone more than that since I was supposedly "saving" that much. I took back a pleather jacket about a month ago because it didn't fit. I bought it on-line and paid about $53 for it. I only received $40-something back. When I questioned it they gave me some reasoning about having some discount, blah, blah, blah but they charged me $53 in the end so why was I only getting $40 back? I didn't understand and still don't so I don't think I will be shopping there again. Even though, when I reordered it on-line at the bigger size I only paid $35 for it because I had Kohl's cash. They also sent me 2 instead of the 1 I bought and I still haven't returned it. I've been busy but I kind of feel cheated and since it was their screw up why should I use my gas to return it? I may just donate it to Goodwill. I realize I got Kohl's cash back but what if I decided not to buy another jacket or anything else with that discount? They would still have my money.

If it wasn't shipping (many times they run free-shipping promos), then why would you have not asked a supervisor for a clear, satisfactory-to-you explanation?

And you could call the online-ordering # and tell them that if they want the 2nd jacket back, you would like them to send you a postage-paid sticker so that the UPS or USPS delivery person can pick up the parcel at your door. Many companies will do that.
