With all sincerity, I have to disagree with you. But I do agree with most of what your saying in regards to the leaching. Makes perfect sense. I have spoken with Joe Morle (Figtrees.net) and have bought several trees from him. He has been doing this for over 30 years. While I agree with your assessment of dumping it all in one place may not be ideal, I can not argue with results. I have about 40 varieties right now and I used the same method on all of them. Results have been varied, but all in all I have to say that success has been achieved. In hindsight I would have added more lime to the soil and maybe mixed it in like you said with the other fertilizers. Most of my trees, anywhere between 1 and 3 years had about 12-25 figs which I cut in half depending on the size of said tree. I did not want to tax the tree too much. I also had another 15 varieties which I tried another method with-self contained watering. Using Osmocote and about 2 cups of lime, I had tremendous growth but next to nothing in terms of fruit. The high nitrogen caused the tree to just shoot up. With the high phosphorus, the other trees bore fruit but had little growth. With the Osmocote I like that in terms of long term possibilities of establishing a tree but not short term in getting some fruit. I would say, when I repotted I did not re-fertilize during the season, only the triple 20 every 3 weeks. I respect your knowledge and professionalism, but I can't argue with my results.

Thanks y'all, a very uplifting cyber-day. Every hug, thought and prayer is appreciated. I just got some old medical records, that will be VERY interesting to the hemo on the next visit. The secret plan will be to attack and kick some ass. The "Don't Quit" poem fit well. Also saw "Footprints in the Sand". Down in that hole, I only saw one set of footprints. There must have been some help getting out of there. sjerin - fruits & veggies, are, FOOD. Yes, I'm, scouting other places (ACS, etc.) for possible future needs/advice. Joined an excellent MF forum. Superb information, sometimes beyond my comprehension in discussing the infinite complexities of this damn thing. mary - every time I walk out of a doctor office, I am a 'survivor'. I'm not dead yet. rhizo - those shakes sound like a good addition to a sandwich, cheese, chicken wings, chips, stuff you nibble before supper, or after breakfast. But I would starve waiting for it to thaw out. Sorry, no Sonic here.

Lydia, thank you for letting us know. I'm glad you enjoyed your reread of GWTW. It's a helluva a story, in my opinion, in so many respects. My apologies for not responding to your post just previous to the last one. I didn't finish Bridget Jones's Diary. I couldn't stand her whinging -- what was it, ten years ago? -- so I doubt I would tolerate her any better now. I have no idea if future readers will think she's "so 1990s/2000s", or whatever dismissive phrase they invent. But I think you're right in noting the similarities between Bridget and her ilk and the snarkiness of the characters in Georgy Girl. Whatever is trendy in a contemporary novel is bound to be old hat to successive generations of readers -- even when they like vintage styles. Something you, or someone, said above (or elsethread) struck me: (paraphrasing, since I can't locate it to quote directly) readers like historical novels written in their own times better than preceding generations' contemporary novels because the sensibilities have been redone to suit what the writers and readers want those times and the characters to have been.The more I think about it, the more convinced I am that's right. Let me guess about Summer of '42: Are the readers nowadays hostile about the young boy losing his virginity to the older woman? I can see how that would be a 'modern' take. It sure didn't seem to be awful to Raucher's character in 1942...Hermie, I think was his name. And I don't think it was considered obscene back in the early 1970s when the book came out, but we have become sensitized to the 'issue' of cougars since. (Even the term cougar is ugh-worthy!)

I believe OP is referring to gloves like "mud gloves" = usually knit with a textured nitrile finish on the fingers and palm. I love my mud gloves - use them all the time, and they last for years (or, more accurately in my case, decades). I usually just run them under water to get the dirt off and let them air dry, but I have thrown them in the washer before, they wash just fine. I've never noticed a sweaty smell, though -- mine are knit. OP solved her problem, though. I do like leather gloves for some things, but depends on the chore, and I find they can get hot. I have a suite a different gloves for different chores. ;0)

val55.....Georgy is a goldendoodle. Her real name is Georgy Girl after Lynn Redgrave. I named her Georgy because she came from Georgia but I didn't want to name her Georgia hence Georgy Girl and she gets the Hey, Hey Georgy girl every morning when I first greet her.

Murraysmom, Georgy loves having her picture taken and is willing to pose for the camera.

Glenda, when Molly Beth's mom sees this picture, she'll be so glad she got the Minnie! My friends think Georgy is huge....she's really not. She's about 50 lbs., but has so much fur she looks a lot bigger. Loves to sit in your lap so I tease my husband because he's always saying he wants a lap dog. Well, now he has one!

Minnie, that's a great idea I just might use it for next years card...If I can remember by next year. LOL

Joanne, I love nutcrackers. I have a lot of the Steinbach's and a lot the kids gave me over the years. They couldn't afford the Steinbachs and frankly, I don't think they even know what they are. I love the ones they gave me as well. Last year my son gave me a Steeler nutcracker...he's a Pittsburgher and die hard Steeler fan.
