I'd love to have one..but it's not at this point a justifiable expense...I had an emergency c section almost 18 years ago that destroyed my stomach...with a tummy tuck they could totally get rid of my zipper scar and all the damaged "material"...And I could wear even smaller clothes than I've gotten into...but....oh well....

A c-section 40 years ago is what happened to me. I have a big ole "hangover" I want to get rid of. Smaller clothes would be a bonus!!

Are you having lipo too? My DIL had lipo and a tummy tuck about 10 years ago. She looked great until she gained around 40lbs. Since the fat cells were sucked out of her tummy most of her weight gain went to her boobs. She went from a small B cup to a H cup. She is now wanting to get a breast reduction.
Her "tuck" part is still working and even with the weight gain her tummy is still pretty flat.
If I could afford it I'd have one in a New York minute. Best of luck to you.

I had a friend who had it done because she gave birth to twins in her forties.

She wasn't really overweight but her doctor put her on a strict diet for several months before he would do the surgery. He wanted her in top physical form and health.
She said the recovery was very painful at first. Then just as she got to feeling better she had to start a series of exercises. Said it wasn't much fun. Plus she was on a severely restrictive diet for several months after the tuck. Three I think. So the whole process took at least six month or more what with the consultations, the diet before,the healing, and the physical therapy along with more diet.

She told me this about 3 months after her surgery. She was finally able to wear snug jeans for the first time. Up until that time she had to wear loose clothing until being given the all clear. She was very, very happy and satisfied with her decision.

Doesn't sound like much fun does it??? I expected it to be painful and a lengthy recovery and I could use the restrictive diet. I am overweight and my surgeon may want
me to lose even more than I am losing before he will operate. Thanks for the info. I have had a breast reduction and am now in a C cup. I surely don't want the girls to get any larger.

Good luck to you, but for me, I don't care how much I sag, drag, or bag, I am never going to have another surgery unless I really, really need it. Will send fast healing thoughts your way.

I can't stand the thought of surgery. I'd starve myself and exercise like a fiend before I would let a surgeon touch me. I guess I'm just a big baby!

I've lost enough weight and tightened my upper tummy area around my waist...so what's left won't go anywhere with out removal...I don't even think starving myself will touch that "fat pocket"...

I was the jury foreman on a medical malpractice trial for a botched tummy tuck. All I can say to you is get good references (i.e., from friends, not a patient list the doctor gives you) and ask lots of questions. Also do some checking on the doctor's background and status with the medical and legal communities.

The poor woman who had the tummy tuck got home only to discover she no longer had a navel. She did however have horrible scarring, and was traumatized by waking up in the middle of the surgery.

One lady I know gained her 30 pounds in her back (of all places) - talk about clothes not fitting!

Another's all went to her thighs.

I wish I would have had a Tummy Tuck, but about 8 years ago I did liposuction. I looked great for about 3 years, but now that is where all my extra pounds go.

No unnecessary surgery for me.

no tummy tuck but Im getting lap band surgery in March.I need to lose 50lbs to have kidney transplant.my dr suggested I do this.

Dink!! Did I miss something??!! You *are* scheduled for lap band?? The last I remember, you were going through a battery of tests but hadn't gotten the OK for your surgery yet.

stoney,nope I have to see a lung dr and they require a pychiatrist visit,I see the lung dr end 0f January,afraid of head dr ha my hubby said he dont have enough time to deal with me.lol no I have dr app with him 2 1/2 weeks.Surgery is scheduled for March.

My daughter had a tummy tuck, lipsuction, breast implants, fat removed from her back and moved to her butt, 8 hours worth of surgery. She was really in pain and said she'd never have another surgery of any kind. She looks good, but it seems like she is putting a bit of weight back on. Time will tell. Oh, she said something about hiring a personal trainer. I don't know if she has done this or not.
