I would update you....I lurk and know all, but been busy sending the KT addy to your entire mailbox, which was quite hard to get I might add.

Kat...thanks for asking...

She is doing better...but they have her on double dose of meds. I don't like that.

I didn't take any after my surgery, but she was about 10 years younger than I was when I had mine.

I don't like taking meds.

Very beautiful flowers, Silverkelt. Your garden is colorful and interesting and very cottagey. I love the Double Gold Rudbeckia too. We grew Clarkias in California, but haven't ever tried them here. I'd have to order them, as they are not sold here in any nursery I've been to anyway. I have ONE plant of Irish Eyes this year. One of my dogs dug up all of my seedlings I planted last year but the one. I put a wrought iron skirt around it and is doing fine and blooming this year. I shouldn't have planted them where I did. I knew he dug in there. Going to move her around to the back where I grew them before. She is one of my faves too. Such BIG flowers and the green center cones are so different. (I love greens). I hope my Heritage rose is that lovely when it grows up. I grew it from a cutting that 'plantmaven' sent me two years ago. And what fragrance! You could never post too many pictures as far as I am concerned. I LOVE to see pictures! Maine is such a beautiful part of this country. The forest at the back of your flowers with your path going back that way is very picturesque. Lucky you to have that as your background. I bet you see a lot of wildlife. Thanks for sharing with us. Jasmine - What a great deal you got on those pots! WooHoo! Also, thanks for the compliment on the seed packets. You have no idea the countless hours that went in to me folding paper until I found the perfect design! LOL! Here's how you do it: 1. Cut a piece of notebook paper in fourths. Each piece of ruled paper will become the seed packets. I normally just crease it it half both directions and tear along the creased line. 2. Use the short side of the paper as the top. (There are two short sides and two long sides, like any rectangle would have.) I also like to use the red line that goes down the page to the inside of the packet, so that would be facing you right now. Bring the top left corner and top right corner down and in to the top middle part of the paper where both points meet. Where they meet, is where you'll crease the top left and top right side of the paper. It should look like a point at the top that forms a triangular shape at the top of the paper, like the point on an arrow. 3. Bring the bottom of the paper up until it meets the bottom of the triangular shape and crease it there. 4. Bring the left side in to the center of the paper and crease it there. (The center is easily visible by the line that was made in the middle of the top triangle shape you already made. 5. Do the same thing to the right side bringing it also into the center and creasing it. 6. Bring the bottom up to where the the left side and right side straight lines end. 7. Fold the top flap down inside the bottom flap you just brought up to "seal" the envelope. It really is an amazingly simple mini seed packet that used lightweight, ordinary notebook paper. All I do is open up the right side (because I'm right-handed), pour the seeds in and fold it right back up. One thing I would highly recommend is writing on the ruled lines on the front of the packet BEFORE filling with seeds. It's that simple. I've seen a lot of origami packets that had to use the heavier, bulkier paper to stay firm and like a good packet, but this isn't one of them. I've also seen that if even one little line is not perfectly creased, the packets looks "off", but this isn't one of them, either. It's a very forgiving design that hardly shows a flaw even when my kids make them! I hope others will try to make them. If I can scan each image along the way, then I'll try to make another post with pictures. I blow these out while I'm watching TV without ever cutting or gluing paper. I can make over a hundred in no time at all. Just the first ones you make take a little longer as you get used to it, then you fly right through them! Blessings, Angela

WOW deb!! what a nice box to send!! i know you are gonna love to plant them sandy!! :')) when i went to go get em's gloves they had mostly little ones, then i was thinking well my hands are bigger, and what if she's like me and likes them looser?? hmm so i tried a bunch of different gloves on, and then i found a pair i thought were cool, and grabbed some, LOL and was just praying that she didn';t have dainty hands!! LOL :')) candles are always sooo nice to have!! :')) ohhh man this is gonna be close!! last time i put one at the 149 mark we went to 151 LOL i found this thing i'll post the link its way cool!! if ya like hummerbirds, you'll love this!! the video is sooo cool, she's feeding them out of her hand! well the flower is in her hand and the nector is in her hand. how awesome!!! Talk you out of it? NOT a chance Beth, quite the contrary - your roses are always so exquisitely intriguing that your post sent me straight to the website to check them out. You have excellent rose judgment, so if they caught your eye they're worth checking out. I already did some substitutions with Nicole for my order of a dozen or so, and I have no business adding anything to my running rose total that's over 300 if Wes comes through with the Ludwig roses after all, but I think Liberty Bell is going to have to squeeze into this order in the end after all. Mine aren't due till early April, so I still have time for daydreaming. Sympathies on your mother's passing, but you get the peace that comes from knowing you spent the time appreciating being with her when she was here. You're right that as much as we love roses (and NO, we are not nuts, just rose gourmets with discriminating tastes, i.e. one of each please), people are still more important. Rebecca, as usual you are getting fabulous photos of a rose that's barely "meh" for me - both my TGG and Crown Princess Margareta are mostly forgettable barely once blooming Austins for me, but yours are both stunning. Clearly Nebraska needs to be colder or something, to make them shine like yours. Similarly, oldrosarian your Aloha Hawaii is something my plant has only dreamed of. I can't say I've seen more than 5 or 6 blooms ever in its 3 years, but it's approaching its fourth year and I'm gonna show my plant your photo and tell it to shape up to meet the competition. Thanks for asking.....Jake and his parents are still in temporary housing but their stuff is being shipped so they wil be moving into their three bedroom apartment in a nice area of Tokyo with a week or two....the dog is still in quarantine, which makes me sad but hopefully, he will get to get back to his family soon. My son still loves his job....which is a good thing.
My DDIL keeps me updated with notes and photos via her cell phone. She says Jake is a happy child and makes everyone smile. I am thinking Japan in the Spring will be beautiful!

Oh man, I can't believe you remembered all of us.
thank you, it really means a lot.

Sister is good, bald as an eagle, and happy as hell she made it through all this chemo madness. I was so thankful to go visit her a month ago, and go through all the processes with her. It's not easy, but worth it for sure.

I have had a sterling silver bracelet on my wrist, that has a cancer ribbon on it since my dad died of cancer in 1989. We have decided that when she is cancer free in July of this year she will fly down and take it off my wrist.

I can't wait!!

Eyebrows, still going gray, haven't taken the time to hunt up the brow darkening stuff someone mentioned I get. I just left Wal-Mart too. arghhghh!

My brother is ok, thanks to everyone who was thinking of him and said a little prayer.

I am happy to tell you that I am PAIN FREE! I saw the specialist and more x-rays. He couldn't see a fracture but knew that there was pain and swelling. He gave me some long name of what he thought I had...which in laymans terms was bursitis! Gave me some anti-inflamitory and pain pills...and within 24 hours I could tell the differnce! =) A week later, I have no pain, and just a bit of swelling in the evening with it.

I can make the font larger, it's the color that pales. What I think should be black is a pale grey. All colors are affected and pictues are mostly lost to me. I can do jigsaw puzzles but I can't always see the picture.

Thanks for thinking of us, Kat (and thanks for the card). We are finding that the "golden years" are not so golden...or the gold has tarnished. The purpose of retirement is to allow old people to have time to spend in the doctors' offices.

This year, Stan learned about broken toes and kidney stones. Hopefully 2008 will bring fewer medical lessons. I am hanging in there. Quilting and the KT keep me sane (or at least sane enough to avoid institutionalization)!

Wishing all my KT friends a healthy and happy 2008!

Update on friends house that burned:

They finally got power to the well, and a phone line run to the camper. Borrowed a laptop and got an internet device from Verizon. They are listing the contents of the house, when it was bought, amount paid and replacement cost. The internet has come in handy for that. The insurance company is promising a mobile home but I doubt that will happen until after Jan. 1 at least. Just got to get permits from the county to put it on the property, permits to hook to septic tank, etc.

Kat, I'm just catching up here today. You are so thoughtful to remember everybody.

My grandaughter seems to be taking everything in stride. For the last several years she had had Thanksgiving dinner at her house. Since that was not an option this year, she did Christmas. My DD and I helped with some of the food, but it was still a lot to do and I thought she seemed very tired and didn't do her usual "Martha Stewart" type.

She is anxious to get back to the gym, which she can do after the 1st, so that will help.

There was so much for her to catch up with, getting ready for Christmas I don't think she has had a lot of time to internalize everything she/they have been through.

I hope that it won't just "hit" her when things settle down, kids back in school and she has time to think about it all.

Thanks for thinking about her. I appreciate it very much.
