Well, of course, I was looking for David McCallum!!! David Keith McCallum, Jr. (born 19 September 1933) is a Scottish actor and musician. He is best known for his roles as Illya Kuryakin, a Russian-born secret agent, in the 1960s television series The Man from U.N.C.L.E., as interdimensional operative Steel in Sapphire & Steel )with Joanna Lumley), and for his current role as NCIS Medical Examiner, Dr. Donald "Ducky" Mallard in the series NCIS. The Man from U.N.C.L.E, intended as a vehicle for Robert Vaughn, made McCallum into a sex symbol, his Beatle-style blond haircut providing a trendy contrast with Vaughn's traditional appearance. McCallum's role as the mysterious Russian agent Illya Kuryakin was originally conceived as a peripheral one. However, McCallum took the opportunity to construct a complex character whose appeal rested largely in what was shadowy and enigmatic about him. Kuryakin's popularity with the audience and Vaughn's and McCallum's on-screen chemistry were quickly recognised by the producers and McCallum was elevated to co-star status. Although the show aired at the height of the Cold War, McCallum's Russian alter-ego became a pop culture phenomenon. The actor was inundated with fan letters and a Beatles-like frenzy followed him everywhere he went. While playing Kuryakin, McCallum received more fan mail than any other actor in MGM's history. (Funny Cyn, we had a mind-meld again!) William Shatner and Leonard Nimoy appeared together in a 1964 episode, "The Project Strigas Affair", a full two years before Star Trek aired for the first time. Shatner played a heroic civilian recruited for an U.N.C.L.E. mission, and Nimoy played a rival of the villain's henchman. The villain was portrayed by Werner Klemperer. James Doohan appeared in multiple episodes, each time as a different character. Barbara Feldon (Agent 99) played an U.N.C.L.E. translator eager for field work in "The Never-Never Affair," one year before becoming one of the stars of the very different spy series Get Smart. Robert Culp (I Spy) played the villain in 1964's "The Shark Affair." Solo and Kuryakin, trained in martial arts, also had a range of useful spy equipment, including handheld satellite communicators to keep in contact with U.N.C.L.E. headquarters. A catchphrase often heard was "Open Channel D" when agents used their pocket radios; these were originally disguised as cigarette packs, later as cigarette cases, and still later as fountain pens. One of the original pen communicators now resides in the museum of the Central Intelligence Agency. The museum is not accessible to the public. Replicas have been made over the years for other displays, and this is the second-most-identifiable prop from the series. In his 80th year, McCallum is the oldest actor under contract in Hollywood - got to say, I was worried we were losing him in the series cliff-hanger last year. So, I believe everyone got it/him?? Someone mentioned ppl not posting. I hope nothing is wrong to stop a person that I sent to in CA from posting. If there isn't a reason, I think it is so disppointing to NOT post that you at least received. (If you are ill I am sorry post when you can) It is nice to acknowlegde at least you received whether you list what you got or not, although I think that is even better listing the seeds as well. GIVE CREDIT to the person for who and WHAT you received. That is just common courtesy, if for some reason you can't post what then at LEAST give credit to whom it was that sent you something. That person didn't have to take their valuable time to send anyone anything but they did and for some it took them HOURS to do it, some even took from their personal stash just so YOU could have a few of YOUR wants too. BE KIND and repay with a thank you to whomever it was you received from, is that too much to ask? OK, off the soap box. PRAYER REQUEST PLEASE: Last night I watched a house just across the highway burn. I don't know the people, they really live across a 4 lane HIGHWAY from me, but the way our place sits we could see the top and part of the front of the home and the flames were so bright coming out of the roof. We heard the sirens and bunches and bunches of Firetrucks swarming their home. I watched for about a minute as my heart went out to that family, and I had to come back in, I am not a gawker of tradegy. It was one of the nicest brick homes in this neighborhood. I don't know how much it burnt, I haven't been able to bring myself to go look today. I just feel for that family, whomever they are. I can't imagine what they lost. I hope everyone got out, I don't know that either. All I know is it broke my heart and I am still having to choke back tears. It is too close to Christmas for this kind of thing to happen. It is terrible. It is bad anytime, but to me losing everything around the Holidays is more so, esp. Christmas time, SO please add this family whomever they are to your pray list. Thank you all, Fran

My experience posting real estate on CL was: 1) Got 95% of inquiries (calls, emails) within 36 hours of posting the ad. 2) I learned to repost every few days to get more interest and each time I reposted that calls/emails would revive. I would delete the prior post and then create a new one. 3) Always post several photos 4) Put your location and price on subject line plus top selling feature if it fits (such as waterfront or 5 acres or 1 year old or top school district) 5) Dont have to specifiy FSBO in the subject line and don't have to make it the 1st few sentences of an ad either. Just focus on marketing the property and don't have to put FSBO front and center. Dont hide it, but don't make it more important that the home and price and location and top selling features of the property.

Dunno how sage this is, but here goes. The long island taking the place of the wall - I'd just love it if: (1) It had water. It's the perfect bar/prep area, but it has no water, so I wonder if it would become the perfect dumping ground for stuff instead. It tends to happen to spaces like that. Adding bar height seating instead of counter height would guarantee its future as a dumping ground. (2) Nobody much uses the doorway next to the ref- I'm thinking its basement stairs? If you have a game room or the laundry or something popular down there, the walk around the peninsula through the kitchen might become annoying both to people walking around it and any kitchen people whose work area is walked-through. (3) You're sure you want to cut off and narrow down the paths to/from the dining room. There is an opportunity to integrate dining and kitchen, not continue to have the dining room completely separate. The long peninsula re-separates the rooms after you removed the wall to combine them. It can make sense to do that - preserves some formality while allowing a little more social interaction with the chef. It can make sense to have one big free flowing area, too. Choose now, grasshopper. Otherwise, the kidney bean shaped island is always a modern shape to me. I don't know if I could do it in that space. Your space looks really familiar as we have very similar moldings. Because of the (to me) modern espresso colored cabinets, I'm thinking a smaller, espresso colored square as a bridge between modern and the more traditional room structure. I'd also look at building in small shelf units into the remaining wall ends - in the case of the west (ref) wall, I might open the newly drywalled section at the top of the basement stairs and do a small pantry or brm closet with a wall cabinet depth one imbedded into the kitchen west wall, facing the other partial wall. Then imbed a matching cabinet on the other side. The ref wall one could be used for practical stuff with the peninsula version and the other used for books or display.
