What's for dinner 12/17?

I finally got the tree up today, but not without a few tears and choice words. How inept can you be to not be able to put up a Christmas tree by yourself? I'm so used to Harry doing that part of it and now he can't. I got the tree put together but couldn't get the lights to work. He did get up from his nap and got them all plugged in together the right way. A few other things didn't work out the way I thought they should and I was so frustrated. I just hate not being able to do what I consider a simple task. Anyway....dinner tonight is leftover salmon quiche, peas and peaches. What are you having--and I hope you had a better day than I did.

I'm still decorating too and hope to get finished tonight.

I don't have any fresh greens in the house so I will probably bring out a piece of homemade lasagna from the freezer and reheat it in the microwave. I like your idea of salmon and peas though. Maybe I will make a white sauce and throw in a can of salmon and frozen baby peas and serve it over egg noodles. I think that is what I am going to do.

Christmas trees are frustrating to do alone! I had problems with my prelit one this year and no matter what I did it didn't seem to work out the way I wanted! LOL

We are having chili and some sort of sandwich, summer sausage or grilled cheese. Butterscotch pudding for dessert with lots of half and half!

Spaghetti! The sauce is still cooking -- I'm a late eater! (Plus I took a nap with my pup after running to the mall today. That's another thing to put on Glenda's list: DO NOT go to the mall on MLK Day! But I got a good parking space, without having to drive around, so all is good!)

Overcast all day. Threatened rain and potential storms with dark heavy cloud-cover. But it didn't happen. Went to see Mom today and stopped off at the grocery store to pick up a refrigerated pizza. Out of leftovers.

I completely understand Beethoven's last quote. Having a bad case of tinnitus, I am hard of hearing, but if it's loud, it's aggravating. I think he heard the notes in his head, not in his ears. Havent' even gotten our tree yet. maybe tomorrow.

Tonight is pot roast in the fireplace. My DH is making the fire as we speak. I should have coals to cook on soon.

Ever cook in your fireplace? I have made several things in ours.

I put up my (small artificial pre-lit) tree and other indoor stuff last week. Also my outdoor lights, but a neighbor helped with that.

Today I did some "deep cleaning" which was way over due.

For dinner ...

Anne: Do you drain the salmon before putting it in the white sauce? That sounds like it would be something I'd like and would be easy too.

yes I drain the salmon into the pet bowls and give them the black skin as well.

I ended up having the lasagna because I got a very distressing phone call from my sister just as I was starting to cook that made me very worried for her well being. Everything seems to be okay now. I have been calling her every hour to make sure she hasn't done something stupid.

We had Pastitsio and Greek Salad with Garlic Bread...

Had to run to town to pick up some gift cards for the kids.. and so Pastitsio sounded like a good and easy meal, and besides I had a hankering for some..
