What an awful thing to happen. But at least she admitted guilt and had insurance.
Even though it is a state law here to have auto insurance many people do not.
DH got hit by a fork lift while he was in the car, gas off, while waiting for someone to load some stuff in his car at Orchard Hardware.
Orchard Hardware was very helpful but their insurance broker was very bad. It took us a long time to get the money to fix the car.....but it was driveable.

She and I have the insurance company, Met Life. I hope I won't have any problem.

Sorry to hear this glenda. I know you're thankful that no one was hurt, but it's just so inconvenient now to have to go through this. I think it's safe to say we've all been there and done that...at least once, so we know how you're feelin'.

Hope they do a nice job on your car. Make yourself feel better and go buy yourself an early Christmas present...LOL!

Had 2 accidents in my life, neither one my fault but a big pain in the butt! Make sure your car is fixed to your satisfaction. A relative had an accident, she was NOT happy with the body shop that did it. They replaced things that were metal with plastic parts. She complained to her insurance company, they did get after the other gal's company some how and it was fixed to her satisfaction.

You're so right--not the season for it. So much to do this month without that hassle. But I'm glad you're okay and very glad she had insurance.

Aw crap, Glenda! Your car was such a beauty! How did she do it? Not paying attention I guess....geez.

I had to go pick up a Rx Monday night so I had to drive the Mini Cooper, I love that car but hate taking it on the highway at night with all the trucks. One the way home some guy (that had been riding in the left lane) decided he wanted my lane, but I was already there! He literally ran me off the road. Idiot.

Glad you were not injured Glenda. It IS a bummer! Not saying the woman would have hit and run, but it was good you were out there so you could get her information.
I will not get my car back for at least 3 weeks. Maybe I will save a little $ by staying out of the stores. haha

lol, she couldn't hit and run, cause I was stopped right behind her, and she backed into me. And she jumped right out of her car, and came right to me saying she knew it was her fault.

Plus there was a witness, who tried to get her to stop, but she didn't see him. Got his name, too.

Glad you are both okay, glenda - except for the car, of course.

Glenda--just a suggestion. DO NOT talk to her insurance person. Let your insurance agent do all the talking. If the damage is over a certain amount, some states require you report it to the police and the state. Even though she admits it, she could change her mind. Since both of you were backing etc. Don't even talk to the person. Sorry, did not realize you were stopped. Did you drive it ok? Where does your insurance company want you to do? Yep, I have gone thru this before.

I've already talked with mine and she said the insurance adjustor will call and tell me what I need to do.

marie-ndcal, that's why I have the name and number of the person in the parking lot that witnessed the accident and also tried to wave her down to stop.

So sorry, Glenda. It's such a pain. I was hit in a parking lot twice. The second time, the lady couldn't be nicer she was backing out and there were some little kids in the car next to her jumping in and out of the car. She was so focused on them, she didn't look behind her. I was driving by slowly with my eyes looking to the left as I was seeking a parking spot. BAM. Her husband called me that night to let me know their insurance would cover a rental but my daughter is always out of town so I borrowed her car. It's just a major inconvenience.

I asked my ins company about rental car, and they said definitely yes.

I can't be stuck all day with myself :o)

My neighbor lady had her car backed into in a hospital parking lot. They exchanged info and went on their way. The woman didn't have any damage. She was in her husbands big truck with a big hitch sticking out the backend of the truck. It went right through her door. The woman was afraid to tell her husband and didn't contact her insurance company. It went on and on. I told my neighbor lady to have the hospital check their cameras. Sure enough she was on camera and the security guard was coming in and saw it all. The woman's insurance company paid her extra for her troubles..

Hope hope hope lady is as honorable as she seemed.

Sorry for your mishap. You are lucky that the lady assumed responsibility and called her insurance agent, but you may not be done yet. In my location, a business parking lot is considered private property, not a public street. Therefore, the Police dept has little jurisdiction unless a felony is in process. They can make out a report as after the fact, but it has little to no power of enforcement.

Years ago, s similar thing happened to my wife. The driver's door got bashed in. The police were called but since they had not witnessed the accident, they more or less said, this is private property. Work it out between yourselves and left without making an accident report.

After the insurance co. was notified, they reviewed the action and wrote us a letter saying they had no responsibility. The only witnesses were the two drivers involved. In other words, they could wriggle out and did.

My insurance company fixed the door and then sued the other company in small c;aims court to recoup their loss. My insurance company won. What a hassle!

If you wonder whether 2 ladies can work this out, I will bet they can. I know they can.

Now, consider if this were two men.

Sorry this happened to you. One thing I've learned- always call a cop if you're in even a minor fender-benmder. He'll assess the situation, take statements from both drivers (and any witnesses) and gets it all down on paper. Even minor damage can be very expensive. Example- I had a one car accident, one dark rainy morning I banged into a light pole in the parking lot of a hospital. Even tho it looked like just a few scratches in the fender, I damaged the mount holding the headlight and it cost $695 to fix. I did not report it to insurance-my deductible is $500 so they'd pay next to nothing. And I already had two other accidents in 5 years-I don't need to involve my insurance company. Anyway, Glenda, glad you're okay. Let us know how it goes.
