I made chicken pot pie & for dessert cho. chip cookies

Going to a party of the potluck variety. Theme is "How the Grinch Stole Christmas"...I'm taking a green enchilada casserole, and calling it Grinchiladas! I think there will be Roast Beast and Who Hash, as well.

Went Mexican, today!

A hot tamale and it was hot!

I was busy making potato salad and deviled eggs for our party at the Home tomorrow. So my evening meal was a little of this and a little of that. Leftover pea soup, very small piece of leftover lasagna, and a little bit of the potato salad.

I told my sister that it's too bad we don't live next door to one another as she was making the homemade baked beans* and a meatloaf. We could have shared and had quite a banquet.

Mary, sounds like you're feeling better. I'd sure love to have some of your pot pie--and cookies, of course!!

Glenda, were you able to eat that hot tamale? Sorry to say I just can't do "hot" any longer. I think I fried my insides when I was younger! I do love tamales, though. I think when I die, all the restaurants in heaven will be from B'ham! :-)

Some friends are taking us out for dinner tonight. It is Mexican Night so I'm sure I will have 2 enciladas and Dh will have a steak.

I bought fresh Linguine at Sprouts the other day, I will use a bottle tomato/basil sauce on it. DH will have a
'hot' Italian sausage and chicken on his, I will cook his all together for him, more flavor that way. I will have some type of meat substitute on mine~~~fresh veggies and fruit with it;)

We had our big Cajun Christmas family celebration today and there was enough food to feed the KT. We had the best oven roasted brisket with rice and gravy, Turkey, honey ham,sweetpotatoe casserole,rice dressing,cornbread dressing,greenbean casserole,smoked sausage,corn,blackeyes, and much more than I can remember, plus 2 tables of cakes,pies, fudge,brownies, etc.
I swore I would never eat again but of course we could not leave without fixing us each a to go plate!
It was fabulous and wonderful to spend time with family. Mom is in a care home so couldn't be with us but we took her some goodies to enjoy. She was happy.
I need a NAP.

It seems I have baked cookies most of the day. I made three big batches, Snickerdoodles, Oatmeal cookies, and chocolate chip. I bagged a lot of them up and gave to several family members and extended family, so not too many cookies left. supper was a pizza. I also wrapped some Christmas presents. Amber told me a nice thing happened this evening when they went out to eat with her Mother in law and sister in law. Sister in law is handicapped and so is another family friend that was there. They all prayed before they ate and when Mike went to pay for all of their food, he was told someone in the restaurant had already taken care of their bill. That is the true spirit of Christmas!

Shirley, I love the idea of living next door to a sister--I have 5 and I'd enjoy any one of them. I hope your sister enjoys the party. And now you've made me hungry for potato salad!

Bengardening, how nice to be treated to dinner. Sounds like a really enjoyable evening. Have fun!

YogaLady, do you find it hard to cook both ways? It would be hard for me to come up with recipes that I could just add meat to for DH. You seem to do it easily and your dinners always sound delicious.

OMG, Raven! I would love to be part of your family. What a wonderful menu! Isn't family just the best? I can just picture all of you having that wonderful dinner with lots of laughter around the table. You are so lucky!

Sue, I'm starting my baking Monday. I'm cutting back this year. The only thing Harry requested was Bourbon balls as far as cookies go. But I want to make some Mexican wedding cookies, too. Making other goodies for the neighbors. You will sleep really good tonight!

Everyone's dinner sounds so tasty! Patti, your tree sounds lovely. I'm working on my third tree tonight. I hope to have the fourth (and final) one up tomorrow. I'm WAY behind in finishing my decorating; I've been working like crazy. Hounds, I love calling the dish "Grinchiladas".

DH is still out of the country, so it's just me for dinner again. He arrives back home around midnight tomorrow after nearly three weeks away! Tonight I'm having a spinach salad with pear, goat cheese & pistachios. Dressing is olive oil & Trader Joe's Orange Muscat Champagne Vinegar. I'm also having fish sticks & a baked sweet potato with a little brown sugar & pumpkin pie spice.

I heated up a carton of LLoyds Barbeque Pork for sandwiches. Added a side of roasted garlic cauliflower and a tossed salad with grapes, toasted walnuts and raspberry dressing.

Kittiemom, you must have the patience of Job to put up 4 trees. One's about more than I can handle. I'd love your salad and I'll have to remember to try brown sugar and pie spice next time a bake a sweet potato. I usually just butter them and sprinkle with cinnamon sugar. Brown sugar would be great! Bet it sure will be great to have your DH home again. That's a long trip!

Gazania, I don't remember seeing Lloyds BBQ Pork around here, but I'll look for it. That sounds good and different from our usual fare. Your salad also sounds wonderful.

Patti, your tree sounds gorgeous...how about a picture? I love non-traditional colors on a tree. I am thinking of doing lime and aqua this year.
