Awwwww sweet family Haley! My gosh Bella and Luca are getting BIG! They look like 2 pea's in a pod though!

I am not sure of games, the only thing I can think of is one where you ID spices? You remove labels from the spice jar and number them. (be sure you write down what they are with the numbers before you remove the label! LOL) Pass around and make everyone try to guess what they are.

I did find a description of a 1950's "housewife duties" that you could read? Its sure to cause some laughs and "discussion"

Housewife Duties

* Have dinner ready. Plan ahead, even the night before, to have a delicious meal ready on time for his return. This is a way of letting him know that you have be thinking about him and are concerned about his needs. Most men are hungry when they get home and the prospect of a good meal is part of the warm welcome needed.
* Prepare yourself. Take 15 minutes to rest so you'll be refreshed when he arrives. Touch up your make-up, put a ribbon in your hair and be fresh-looking. He has just been with a lot of work-weary people.
* Be a little gay and a little more interesting for him. His boring day may need a lift and one of your duties is to provide it.
* Clear away the clutter. Make one last trip through the main part of the house just before your husband arrives. Run a dustcloth over the tables.
* During the cooler months of the year you should prepare and light a fire for him to unwind by. Your husband will feel he has reached a haven of rest and order, and it will give you a lift too. After all, catering to his comfort will provide you with immense personal satisfaction.
* Minimize all noise. At the time of his arrival, eliminate all noise of the washer, dryer or vacuum. Encourage the children to be quiet.
* Be happy to see him.
* Greet him with a warm smile and show sincerity in your desire to please him.
* Listen to him. You may have a dozen important things to tell him, but the moment of his arrival is not the time. Let him talk first - remember, his topics of conversation are more important than yours.
* Don't greet him with complaints and problems.
* Don't complain if he's late for dinner or even if he stays out all night. Count this as minor compared to what he might have gone through at work.
* Make him comfortable. Have him lean back in a comfortable chair or lie him down in the bedroom. Have a cool or warm drink ready for him.
* Arrange his pillow and offer to take off his shoes. Speak in a low, soothing and pleasant voice.
* Don't ask him questions about his actions or question his judgment or integrity. Remember, he is the master of the house and as such will always exercise his will with fairness and truthfulness. You have no right to question him.
* A good wife always knows her place.

Sounds like a lot of fun!

Last night we had 14, 14year olds over for for a Christmas Party. We played several games that maybe only a pre teen would like but here goes.

Speed gingerbread house. I bought three $6 gingerbread houses, ready to assemble (sides, top, cement frosting, and candy). I had some white frosting colored red and green for extra goo. I sat three teams on the floor with their house on a paper I had from school. They each had 20 mins to assemble their house. They had a blast!! of course we failed to read that the roof takes 15 mins to set up and stay there! Still they had a great time. Oh yes, paper towels or a wet cloth. They were a mess up to their wrists. I sure this wouldn't work well for younger kids.

Hank and Hannahs hilarious handywork-(gift wrapping) have the players pair up and face each other on the ground. They will hold one hand behind their back and use the other to wrap two pre picked gift (odder the shape the better). lay out a couple sheets of wrapping paper, school scissors and tape. the couple with the best wrapped gifts, WIN. The first done could win but their gifts don't always look so nice! They can only use one hand each though!!

another game was Funky Fran meets Santa.. We found a couple of funny clearance night gowns that we paired up with some funky socks, two velcro hair rollers and a santa hat that says HO HO HO on it. The girls formed two lines where they dressed up in their outfits, ran down to my wooden santa, where they blew him a kiss. The ran back to the next player and started over. (Kinda like momma kissing Santa only they just blew a kiss to have a goal I suppose) It will be soon and games like this won't have the same appeal but they had fun and it was fun to watch. You need a pretty good space for this game.

They also played freeze dance. They had on their favorite dance tunes and every so often I would turn it down FAST. They would freeze and giggle! Fun and easy!!

We had so much food which they loved. The chocolate covered strawberries, the ham wrapped dill pickles and the bacon wrapped water chestnuts went like wildfire. It won't be long and you'll be hosting a bunch of giggling (howling seems a better word) teenagers!

Hula Hoops were huge in the 1950s. You could have a little hula hoop competition (the kids might even get in on that) and give a little inexpensive prize to the winner. Either the best hula hooper or the funniest/most entertaining.

Oh my! I know my friends and I would get a lot of fun mileage out of that list of "housewife duties"!

We played The Question Game at our ornie party the other night. Everyone stands in a circle. One person starts, turns to the person to her left and asks her a Christmasy type question. "How many reindeer does Santa have?" That next person MUST NOT ANSWER, LAUGH or STAMMER or anything, just turns to her next person and fires off a question, that person turns and asks a question, and around and around. It starts out pretty easy because you have some time to think of the next question to ask, but as people mess up and drop out, the circle tightens up and you are asking more questions more quickly. When it gets down to 3 or 4, it's downright hard! And you'll have some wise-acre who asks things like "Is Santa wearing boxers or briefs under his red suit?" or "What was Grandma drinking when she got run over by that reindeer?" etc, the goofier the question, the better the chance that you'll eliminate someone.

It was a hoot, we all loved it, I think we had 17 in the game- big circle at first and it got down, of course, to just 2, rapid-firing questions back and forth.

Cracked me right up! Anyway, it does sound like a really fun get together, you'll have to tell us how it goes. Reminds me of my life in the to my house every Wednesday morning and we knitted and chatted and had coffee and cookies or cakes. Those were the days!
