Digital Camera,,, need help please.....

I had one a long time ago when they first came out but it broke and I never really wanted another one. But I now am thinking of getting one, or my DH will get me one for Christmas. I want a small one and one that is easy to use. Any suggestions??

I have a Canon Powershot A540. It's small but not so small that my fingers accidentally hit the wrong button. The software it comes with is easy to use, both for editing photos and for saving them.

That's a tough question. There's a camera made for everyone and it all depends on what's you're looking for.

My advise is to go to a camera store or department and try out different cameras. Once you've chosen the one you like, shop online or around for the best price.

Some things to look for:
1. How much zoom do you want.
2. How many megapixel do you want.
3. All point and shoot has a shutter-lag time, pausing time between the time you press the shutter button and the camera actually capture the photo. Check to see which has a shorter shutter-lag time so you wouldn't miss out on the "Kodak moment" as often. An SLR Digital camera costs more but they don't have a shutter-lag time. Instant photos are great for actions such as sport events.
4. How does the camera feels in your hand(s). If you have long fingers or large hands, you may not feel comfortable holding a real small camera. Yet, one that is too large may not be too convenience to carry it around.
5. For easy view, you may want to have one with a large LCD display.
5. Are accessories such as batteries easy and inexpensive to get? Personally, I'd stick with ones that can use AA or AAA batteries because they're more readily available worldwide and is a money saving by able to use rechargeable batteries.

Jitterbug, you know what I did? I bought a little camera card/disk/stick reader so I don't have to hook my camera up to the computer, I just take the little card out and put it in my reader. My all-in-one printer (printer, scanner and fax combined) has slots for camera cards too. It was so much easier for me to do that than goof around with the camera. You just access the cards like you would a CD or DVD you put in your hard drive. Here's another thought ... did you download the software for your camera onto your computer? Every camera needs specific software downloaded from the manufacturer's site. It helps your computer read your camera and will provide you with step-by-step commands for transferring the pictures onto your computer. You can download the software for your computer at the link below. Once you download the pictures to your computer, you should be able to upload them to Photobucket. I hope this helps! I think first you have to define what you mean by "set up". The cameras mentioned here are probably all easy operation, which is only one step in a chain. Once you have taken the photos, you must be able to view, sort and save. To get pictures from the camera to the computer. I remove the media (small disc - there are several formats) from the camera and use a USB card reader (make sure it matches the media!). The reader plugs into your computer using a USB port. Usually the computer will recognize and load the reader once you plug it in. The windows XP operating system is very photo friendly. It will recognize that you have inserted a disc and will ask you what you want to do - copy, move, print & view. You can view individual files by clicking on them to open, or right click on them and select preview. Most files are .jpg files and the computer should see the extension and know what program to use. Do yourself a favor and make sure to copy all your files to a CD and do not plan on storing them all on your hard drive for long term - you WILL run out of disk space. Microsoft photo editor comes with XP, but is not a very good photo editing program. I use Photoshop CS, but it is very expensive. There are lots of other choices including free downloads, or software that come with printers or scanners. I cannot recommend any by name, because I don't use them. I do know photoshop Elements is a reasonably good program - cost $60-$80. So now you have photos on your computer, what is it that you want to do with them?

Thanks, folks, for the assistance. I took the camera to Walmart photo dept., and found that the card was damaged - they replaced the card and the camera is working perfectly.

I have a point and shoot Canon PowerShot A550. I like it because it is easy, because it uses two AA batteries, takes good indoor pics and because it wasn't very expensive.
I use my Konica/Minolta Dimage Z1 for macro and zoom but it is not a camera I would recommend because of the poor indoor picture quality.
Of course, it depends on what you will be using your camera for.
