Greg, This is a whole new area of thought about the garden for me so I have little to offer but find the topic fascinating. Recently I was flipping through Native American Ethnobotany by Daniel E. Moerman and thought the Cherokee's use of the plant Hydrangea arborescens was broad ranging from using the scraped bark for a burn poultice, cancer treatment for tumors, orthopedic aid for sprains or sore muscles, dermatological aid used for ulcers, disinfectant used as an antiseptic, gastrointestinal aide for stomach trouble if you chew the bark. The Cherokee also value this plant as a food source, peeled branches and twigs are boiled to make tea, new growth of young twigs is peeled boiled thoroughly fried and then eaten, or branches and twigs are peeled cooked in grease and eaten like green beans. I must confess I am one of those detached consumers who forget that the meat wrapped in plastic was once an animal, let alone the pill I might take to feel better could have come from a plant in my garden. kt

Alicia, we (I mean DH) built our own MC in the last house, and will do so again with this remodel. No particular trick to it (easy for me to say). Basically a box with holes drilled in the sides to support glass shelves. Have to frame around studs- cuz I assume your MC will be wider than 16". Now I do know the electrical box has to be attached to the side of a stud for support, so am assuming they need to be located near an edge- either side or bottom or top. Obviously, everything has to be wired to a GFI (ground fault interrupter). My DH is an electrical engineer and fully qualified to do complicated wiring etc. If you need to ask how to build a medicine cabinet- maybe it would be best to buy one if you want the electrical outlet inside?
