Some things just require soft, white, squishy bread!

I like the whole grain, heartier, breads. But some things just *have* to go on soft, white bread.

Peanut Butter

Bologna and potato chips (must scrunch the bread so the chips break)

What kind of bread to you use?

most often we buy a loaf of sour dough, or milton grainy (costco) and a package of hamburger buns...

It might help if you can post a photo or link to an advertisement for this particular sink. When I read your initial description of the situation, it sounds to me as if the bumps and waves are on the very outer edge of the sink, i.e. most easily seen by looking straight down onto the edge of the sink. It also sounds as if you're planning to cut a rabbeted/stepped circle into the granite so that the lip of the sink is partially recessed into the stone, creating uneven gaps between the stone and the edge of the sink. But, I can't reconcile that image with the concern, expressed in your followup, that leaning on the sink might cause it to rock; the bumps and waves I'm imagining are along the edge, not underneath the lip. In any case, cured silicone caulk is quite firm -- firmer, I suspect, than the 'gummy bear' sort of material you're hoping to find. Consider that one wouldn't just place the sink and then caulk it; one would lay a thick bead of caulk down before setting the sink in place, bedding the sink entirely in silicone. This would be quite secure.

Jasdip, I have a couple of big loaf pans from Cuisinart, I seldom use them because they are so big, I'll bet your recipe would perfectly fill those two. I've never used bacon grease in bread, although I've used lard, now you've got me thinking. I usually reserve the bacon grease for the corn bread pan.... Joan, if you want to try something slightly different, I've made rolls with this recipe from King Arthur Flour. The technique is very different, but the texture of these are very nice. There are instructions for shaping a loaf at the end of the recipe, although I've only used it for rolls. Japanese Milk Bread Rolls Tangzhong (starter) 3 tablespoons water 3 tablespoons whole milk 2 tablespoons bread flour Dough 2 1/2 cups bread flour 2 tablespoons nonfat dry milk 1/4 cup sugar 1 teaspoon salt 1 tablespoon instant yeast 1/2 cup whole milk 1 large egg 1/4 cup (4 tablespoons) melted unsalted butter Directions To make the tangzhong: Combine all of the ingredients in a small saucepan, and whisk until no lumps remain. Place the saucepan over low heat, and cook the mixture, whisking constantly, until thick and the whisk leaves lines on the bottom of the pan, about 3 to 5 minutes. Transfer the tangzhong to a small mixing bowl or measuring cup and let it cool to room temperature. To make the dough: Combine the tangzhong with the remaining dough ingredients, then mix and knead — by hand, mixer, or bread machine — until a smooth, elastic dough forms. Shape the dough into a ball, and let it rest in a lightly greased covered bowl for 60 to 90 minutes, until puffy but not necessarily doubled in bulk. Gently deflate the dough, divide it into 8 equal pieces, and shape each piece into a ball. Place the rolls into a lightly greased round bun pan. Cover the pan, and let the rolls rest for 40 to 50 minutes, until puffy. To use another pan, see "tips," below. Preheat the oven to 350°F. Brush the rolls with milk or egg wash (1 large egg beaten with 1 tablespoon cold water), and bake for 28 to 32 minutes, until golden brown on top; a digital thermometer inserted into the center of the middle roll should read at least 190°F. Remove the rolls from the oven. Allow them to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer them to a rack to cool completely. Yield: 8 rolls. Tips from our bakers These rolls can also be baked in a 9" round metal pan for about 25 minutes. To make a loaf: After the dough's initial rise, divide it into four equal pieces. Flatten each piece into a rectangle, then fold the short ends in towards one another like a letter. Flatten the folded pieces into rectangles again and, starting with a short end, roll them each into a log. Place the logs in a row of four — seam side down and side by side — in a lightly greased 9" x 5" loaf pan. Cover the loaf and allow it to rest/rise for 40 to 50 minutes, until puffy. Brush the loaf with milk or egg wash and bake at 350°F for about 30 minutes, until golden brown on top and a digital thermometer inserted into the center of the loaf reads at least 190°F. Anne, most of my water consumption was from the garden hose, because if I went into the house Grandma would find me a "chore" to do. I didn't go inside. We never had Kool Aid except at Bible School, that was a huge treat. We had cows so we drank milk. Period. I remember going with Mother to my uncle's gas station and splitting a bottle of Grape Nehi with my brother and sister, so that was probably 3 ounces each, LOL. Rita, I still eat baked bean sandwiches, love them. If Grandma made baked beans my breakfast was invariably baked beans spread on a slice of bread and then folded over. We didn't usually buy hot dog buns, but if we had them, I'd use that instead. I do like liver, Grandma fried it with bacon and onions, and always served with mashed potatoes, it was one of my favorite meals. Now the liver usually becomes dog treats, unfortunately. And I can my own chicken, so I always have some on hand. Annie

Thanks! A few years back my bread board broke and it wasn't worth fixing again. I wanted something similar with a groove for crumbs, that would fit in the same drawer. Hinting around birthday didn't produce results. I couldn't find one either and wa getting tired of it. My oven keeps in moisture well, but the steam pan in the first five minutes does make a nice crunchy crust. The first time through I try to follow the instructions. Next time, I'll adjust the hydration of the dough and do the steam. Or maybe even make it in the steam oven. I may also put it on a stone. And maybe try it with AP rather than bread flour.

LOVE tomato sandwiches on white bread...

I prefer Sunshine Giant loaf..because the pieces of bread are a perfect square..LOL

Peanut butter and jelly also must be on white bread.
I eat hamburgers with mustard, pickle slices, grilled onions and no clothes too Glenda. ( the hamburger naked, not me ) :>)

I eat my PB on rye bread (yes, I am weird). No jelly either, blech!

I have never bought white, squishy bread. The closest I get is sourdough, and that is for summer tomato-slathered-with-mayo sandwiches.

I'm just a white bread only girl. Unless it's cheese bread from WalMart's deli. Amana Potato Bread is my only bread.

When I was a kid, I'd spread smooth peanut butter and honey on white bread, then roll it up and eat it.

Well, I don't eat much bread, but it took me a long time to find one that is whole grain, but mimics squishy white bread. It's Nature's Own Honey 7 grain, and it's soft, squishy, and healthy.

I only use white bread for grilled cheese samiches now!

I agree with Lindaluwho,tomato sandwiches can only be on white squishy bread,and these days that's Sara Lee Classic.Smae with peanut butter & jelly.Anything else goes on extra sour dough.

Definitely for tomato sandwiches! All others....whole wheat!

My kids grew up on whole wheat. The first time they were at a restaurant that only had white bread for grilled cheese they looked at it puzzled and wanted to know why the bread was white...they weren't too thrilled with it.

But *sigh* I can no longer eat whole wheat or white bread...and I really miss it! I was diagnosed with Celiac Disease in January and now have to eat breads made from rice or potato flour...they just don't taste the same...some are downright awful!!!! (And, don't even ask about pizza dough!)

Potato bread isn't too bad. Have you tried Ezekial bread? It's pretty good. It's in the freezer section of your store. Really expensive, but good.

Thanks JunkYardGirl...I'll see if I can find it...it has to be "gluten free" though....absolutely no wheat, oats, barley, or rye! (Or caramel coloring or malt flavoring, mustard flour, ...etc.) I'll check it out! I've been making the "Favorite Sandwich Bread" by the Gluten Free Pantry in my bread machine, but it's not the greatest...but better than some of the others I've tried. I tried making turkey stuffing w/it this Thanksgiving and it just isn't the same :-(

Oh! That's another thing the "requires" white bread...turkey stuffing!
