Hope he calls soon, he's probably on the road in traffic.

This is the end of the semester for most colleges, and I wonder if he is feeling awful about his grades. So often that is the problem. He needs to understand that tomorrow is a new dawn and a fresh beginning. Hope you hear from him soon.

I'll be praying for your grandson. The roads were a bit icy this morning. Maybe someone should call law enforcement to keep an eye out for him. They could check the roads to see if he had car trouble or an accident of some sort.

Oh my I would be worried also that doesn't sound good since he's a responsible young man. Have they notified authorites? Was he driving and possibly had car troubles?

Dottie, I am more than sorry to read your post. I don't think there are words to describe how you must be feeling. I'm praying you've heard from him by now and he's safe.

I'm a worry wart too and my mind goes straight to the worst-case scenario. Chances are he is fine, but it doesn't hurt to have someone travel the route he would have last traveled in case his car slid off the road; often when this happens the car isn't easily visible from the road. Really, it's VERY likely that he's fine, just a thought from a fellow worrier.

I hope he's just being young and foolish and nothing is really wrong.

With him being an adult it is too early to file a missing person's report but you can call the highway patrol or whatever department oversees the route he would be taking and ask for any incident reports in the area.

Hope he is found to be safe and sound soon.

I just talked to my son, still nothing from Willie, and his being an adult, it is too early to make a report. I mentioned to Scott, that if we don't hear anything by tomorrow, we can get our son-in-law (daughters hubs) or my sis who live down there, to go to his APT to see if there is anything wrong there. This just isn't like Willie!!

dotmom, I'm so sorry and would worry, too. You said he was supposed to come North last night around 6:00. Was he, in fact, supposed to show up at a particular place? Someone's home? Or was it left as "yeah, I'll head up that way after work"?

I would mostly worry about him not showing up for work, especially if this is a first and he's typically conscientious. Please keep us posted as time allows.

I am not sure if you contacted the local police or not yet. If you haven't, I urge you to. They can get him entered into NCIC as a missing person. Most police departments do not require a person to be missing for a certain amount of time or be of a certain age before they will take a report. My department will take one right away if a person feels it is unlike someone to be missing.
I will be sending prayers.

Dotmom - Please call the local police nearest his apartment and ask them to do a "welfare check". They can do this without listing him as a missing person. Tell them he didn't show up at work and for a family holiday and you need to make sure he is OK. They can have an officer in that area at least go to his door, and/or check with the landlord, and get a visual of the area to make sure nothing looks wrong.

Please do as the others suggested and call the police. I like Soonergrandmom's idea of not filing a missing person's but have them to a check on his apartment.

I hope he comes home safe and sound, THEN you can blast him!

Dotmom, don't put yourself down for being concered, your concern is so very warranted. I'd be very concerned too. Don't listen to this stuff the police can't do anything, as soonergrandmom said they can do a welfare check. Do you know his car make and model? They can see if his car is in the parking lot. If you need me to I'll be happy to go there and check for you. Email me and I'll get you my number. If his car is there and he's not answering the phone, of course they can knock on the door, and if no answer the landlord can open it with police instruction on a welfare check. Hopefully he's just sleeping late, but to miss work AND miss coming to see you, that's very suspicious. So many things could have happened, serious or trivial. We're all of course hoping for the best and all best thoughts and wishes go to you and yours.

We never stop worrying about our kids. I hope all turns out well and that he is okay.

If someone has his landlord's name or even the apartment name, could call there and ask the landlord to knock on the door, check the door for damage and also check for his car in the lot. Any lights or sounds coming from in there (tv, radio or other). It's a tough situation being far away. I know how it feels. If I can do anything be sure to let me know.

Our local police just came to my next door neighbor's house to check on her because her son couldn't reach her and was worried. She was there, not sure why he couldn't reach her, but the police do not mind doing this. Please call them.

Hope your grandson is found soon. I cannot even imagine the feeling of having a grandchild missing. Sending prayers.

I urge you to call the state police ASAP and insist on their help. When my younger DS was 18, he decided to drive out here from Tucson, alone for the first time at such a distance. He didn't appear on the scheduled day - 100% unlike him; he was a responsible kid. When I woke up the next morning he still wasn't here. I called the CHP (California Highway Patrol) and gave them his car description and license plate number. Four hours later he called - from Barstow CA, about 350 miles away. He'd pulled into Barstow late, stayed with a friend, and a bunch of buddies were having a very long breakfast. A policeman identified his car parked next to a popular local restaurant. I asked him what happened and he said, "A cop walked into the restaurant, asked who owned that car, asked me my name, and said Call Your Mother." Of course, I read him the riot act.

Thank you KT friends for the responses. Grandson, Willie called our son, last night and he had stayed at a friends family. I did post about Grandson OK. But this so reminds me, what a terrific and caring KY family I have. Love ya all!!

WHEW! Thanks for letting us all know he's OK. Now you can hug him and yell at him for not phoning. LOL
