Stayed home all day today. Only accomplishment was to bathe Georgyâ¦..she got hold of a frozen dead fish from a nearby pond while DH was walking her. He thought it was a stick. Needless to say, she smelled pretty bad. We're going out to dinner shortly and then I have to play bridge. We're suppose to get 3 -4 inches of snow tonight so driving home should be fun. I do have 4-wheel and as long as it isn't icy, I'll be okay.

For a month now I have been working with a local guy to get my A/C system running correctly. They assumed it was the thermostat, so that was replaced. The temperature still increased in the house throughout the day and the unit would run from about noon until 1 a.m. to get to 73 degrees. (yes, even running it would continue to increase.) Local guy came, filled the coolant. Worked for about a day. Came out again, said there was a leak refilled and added a stop leak. Worked for about 3 days. It would still in this time frame get warmer through the day but not into the 80's with the unit running. We installed a new unit Tuesday. They finished the work just before 6 p.m. (thermostat showing the house at 82 degrees) and it was 2 a.m. before we got to 72 with the new unit running constantly. Yesterday the temperature again rose in the house and the unit was running constantly from about 2 p.m. until midnight or after to cool back to 73. I am at a loss at this point to what the issue is. I live in a Duplex so not cooling a huge house. I would assume when the local guys checked everything they would know if the blower fans were bad or needed to be adjusted. Any thoughts on what could be the issue or next steps to take? The utility bill that is coming with this is draining my pocketbook. I live in IL so we have been seeing temps around 88-89 with heat indexes in the upper 90's. Perhaps this is just normal for the temperatures but I do not see/hear my neighbor's units running ALL day long.

Well, it's slightly before 6AM, and I just went out and got the paper - everything is dry as a bone, with no wind ("they" said it would start raining at midnight). However, our local weather forecasters' timing as to when rain will start here is ALWAYS 6-12 hours too early for some weird reason, so I am still hoping. I just checked again, and now "they" say the rain is supposed to start at 6:30AM and rain gently until about 4PM. We shall see. Jackie
