Oh... I hope they never go up to the waist again!

My waist is much smaller than my hips, and a lower (NOT super low!) rise fits soooo much better.

I don't show anything when I sit down.

I'll never wear waist high pants again. They do nothing for the figure at all and are so uncomfortable. I wear 'mid rise' jeans. Nothing shows from behind, they're flattering to the figure and very comfortable. If you want waist high jeans, go to a western wear store. Mind you, that's where I find my mid-rise too!

There is a pervie mail counter worker at my post office...He apparently enjoys womans breasts!! Doesn't matter if the are covered or some cleavage is showing..he stares at your chest/all womens especially larger..and licks his lips...I don't think he ever looks up!!!!

I agree pants that are midrise fit those of us with narrow waists compared to the rest of us much better...not all pants are low rise..there are way more midrise pants out there...

and normal men who see panties sticking out or tramp stamps say..."pull your shirt down or your pants up"

I agree with Luann. Low rise fits so much better than a tight band around the waist. A slightly dipped front follows the contours of a woman's shape so much better. Mine don't show anything when I sit either.

I am another one that wears the "mid rise" pants. I will never wear around the waist pants again. I have kind of "lost my waist" so if it fits my waist (besides looking horrible on me) it does not fit my hips.

ok ill put my 2 cents in too. i NEVER ever thought id wear low rise..ha was i wrong..they are a lil below my belly button and i can keep them buttoned up, high rise i had to keep un buttoned and partially unzipped or i would get poked! and boy is that uncomfortable..ill have to disagree that jeans are what turn a pervert on..theyll do it whether they are wearing jeans or a chasity belt and a suit of armour! jmho i happen to like the old stand by stretchys low rise..and im short 5'2 and weigh 100 lbs. and if ever...a pervert approached me because of my jeans..lets just say he wouldnt have to take those..umm pills that the court prescibes for his urges because id take care of it in one swift kick!!! no more urges and no more blaming it on the clothes! now dont get me wrong you have to do age appropriate of course, but using clothes as an out..nope. sorry dont want to step on anyones toes

I buy noting but low or mid-rise. Fact is, the "standard" waistline is higher than mine.

Pants that go to the waist make your backside look SO MUCH bigger! Give me the mid-rise any day.

As one with a high waist, I long for pants that sit on my waist! The others I am constantly trying to pull up because they're so uncomfortable for me.

A large majority of the LOW pants for young women are right at the crack and just above the pubic area. Lots of gals wear their thongs which come just above the 'waistline' of the pants. Is this what you all are talking about? To me its just screaming "I'm a sexy gal, just imagine whats only a half inch down" .. And if your thinking , naw, guys aren't thinking that...lol, don't kid yourselves. Thinking isn't doing though,, and yet a whole nother topic.
I agree, I don't buy those for my dd's either sheilajoyce. Not so much because of perverts but because of what I think they imply. They don't need to be sexy at 13. Their pants are low enough though the way they are. Thank goodness we can finally find shirts that cover their middle.

I'm guessing the gals that wear the low pants like the high shirts too but adults should be able to make decisions about that and the reactions they want from the clothes they have on, Kids don't need to be making fashion statements as though they were adults. Quite honestly, I think the low pants are just a statement of what our culture has come to. AND that is another post too!

Even if I looked great in low pants, a cute little thong hanging out, I know I wouldn' wear them. 100% sure of that.

I have my high rise, some mid rise and a couple of low rise pants/jeans.

By far the most comfortable ones are the mid rise pants. I fidget a bunch when I wear my low rise ones... constantly pulling up on them.

My high rise ones are to tight right now, so no worries about fit. LOL

I am glad, my girls are grown and out of the house, when it comes to fashion. :)

My waist to butt ratio is too high-I always liked hip-huggers, they fit my backside and stay put. My waist really is 24 inches, I won't tell you my hip measurement, but it's definitely too big!

I'm another who loves low-rise or mid-rise jeans. Mine do to gape a bit at the back when I sit, so I make sure to wear a longer top or bring a sweater to either wear or tie on. The last time I put on some high-waisted pants, I felt like I was choking. lol

I am long-waisted, and VERY short from waist to hip. The mid-rise jeans fit very well (in some styles and brands) and don't make me feel strangled around the middle. Low rise is out of the question..I'm an old lady, after all, and I don't need my belly hanging over the waistband. Old lady or not, I WILL wear my jeans, probably boot-cut, and maybe with actual boots. Also I seem to have lost my 26-inch waist somewhere over the years. Wonder where that went?

Low-rise pants have never looked good on me, even hip-huggers back in 1969 when I was young and skinny. I'm just not built for them.

It's been a challenge, but I can still find some slacks that have the waistband at the waist or very near.

I got some stylish Banana Republic jeans on sale last January that go to the waist (their regular prices are very high, but sale prices are good). I find Lee jeans and Liz Claiborne "Audra" slacks and pant suits with regular waistbands at Ross for a decent price.

A good thing about our old 1970s "hip-huggers" were the one-piece, snap at the crotch, body-suit shirts we wore with them. Low pants, exposed waistline shapes, but no skin ever showing.

Call me old fashioned. Until the body-suit shirts come back, I don't want to see low pants. Waist bands should fit...ummmm...waists! LOL

At a restaurant this summer, one of the waitresses walked by. Low rise pants, shirt just above her belly button, pubic hair showing above the "waist band" of her slacks.

It was revolting. I got up, left my dinner and my bill, and left the restaurant. I later called the manager and told why I left and wouldn't be back. I did offer to pay my bill over the phone, but he voided it.

And the rolls of belly fat and love handles hanging over these pants? Seems like they'd want to cover that up, if not their actual private parts.

Another experience. I'm in the commissary. There's a lady of my (ample) size in the low rise pants, exposed thong, the whole bit. If that wasn't disgusing enough, she had to bend over, way over, to get something from a bottom shelf. Then she bent over even further and stretched to reach the item. I kid you not; I had a full view of...you know what. (Trace a line from the tramp stamp, all the way down, now go further...and that's what was exposed.)

I'm not crazy about low rise but I like mid rise. I just discovered Levis 550 "At the Waist" jeans and I really like them. They aren't high waisted but I can bend over without my underwear hanging out. lol One thing I love, love, love is stretch in jeans. It makes jeans so much more comfortable.

Well, I am tall and do have a fit problem because of that apparently. DD is quite short, but has an exceptionally tiny waist. She sometimes likes the mid rise better, but the waist is another problem. I guess she needs to accept the fact that every purchase will have to be tailored.

I don't like to see just one fit take over all the clothing lines. I have found that most manufacturers are doing a good job offering several different rises for womens pantss. Low-rise (sits on the hips) Mid-rise (sits just below the natural waist line, my fav!) and then Classic (sits on the natural waist) Most stores here are offering all three rises.
You may have to try on more to find the one you like but they are out there!

I have some jeans here - don't know their origin (or pedigree) ...

... that are so tight that I can hardly get them up my legs.

They've been used quite a bit - one side of the seam on each inner thigh is worn so that the cross threads are broken for most of a foot (a unit+ of measure, not a body part - just so you don't get confused), so I guess I'll have to patch them ... and add an inch or so down the leg to the bottom on each leg, so that they don't look as though someone had poured my leg into them.

The main problem, though (apart from the waist being about 5" too small) ...

... is that there's a big hole that's developed just below the bottom end of the zipper on one side ...

... which is going to need about a 5" patch, each way, I think ... Iwonderwhatcouldhave caused that?

Actually, as the rise is somewhat inadequate, as I mentioned ... I think that I'll need to add three or four inches at the bottom of the patch to lower the crotch a bit, as well.

I've been wondering whether I can open the seam down the back and add a strip about 5" wide ... and I'll need to make it somewhat longer down the back, to match the denim between waist and crotch, on the front.

Oh - and the legs are too long: you need to wear them with rubber boots or keep the legs turned up about 4" ... so I'll need to cut about 3" off of the bottom and re-hem.

That should get me back on the road again ... well, not exactly: I've never actually had these pants on the road.

Well ... that I can recall anyway ...

... but my mermory isn't what it was!

Oh, yes - and last year I bought a scrap end of denim at the fabric store, and figure that I have enough material there to build (is that what you do, "build" an article of clothing?) a new pairof jeans ...

... using the pair on hand as a pattern (well, more or less so).

Does she have a voice in what she wears or do you choose all her clothes?

LOL, I didn't know my pants were dangerous. I wear low rise....BUT on me, they aren't low. I'm built funny...I have a high waist, but low rise pants cover my bottom and all unmentionables. They look best on me. If it got a higher rise, my pants would come up to my bra. The low rise pants work great for me and my build.

Im very short waisted so mid rise actually come to the edge of my waist. I love them. My two grandaughters are allowed to wear the low rise. They're both over 18 and I have to admit, I don't like them. They do wear longer tops but I don't like the bulge that the low rise makes on the hips. Unflattering.

She is in her mid 30s, and loves clothes as gifts for birthdays and Christmas. With an almost two year old in tow and a husband who works long hours 7 days a week, she does not get out to shop for herself. As a result, those clothing presents for which I shop are even more appreciated. She is also hard to fit well--2 petites are still huge in the waist and so even are the 0 petites we rarely find. She is a stay at home mom since our grandson was born and has moved to a warmer climate too. As a result she has a totally different wardrobe requirement than she did when she was working in finance.

She did find that the low rise pants were great when she was pregnant. She could dip the waist below her belly and wear either a bellaband with her top or find a longer maternity top.

I haven't read all the responses here, but, in my opinion...if they are going to have low rise pants, they should only make them in small sizes. Personally, I don't think they should be made at all, but this morning was the last straw. A very heavy girl was bending over at the mall and you could see her whole butt...hey, if you want your butt hanging out, just don't wear any pants at all and save yourself some money...the very low rise ones don't look good on "anyone"

I use to wear the "mom jeans" until I found the low and mid rise ones. They are so much more flattering on a woman's body then the high waist ones. I don't find they gap at the back end. You just need to try on different brands until you find ones that fit great. NancyLouise
