Along the same line as 'Germs on the phone'

The I-team on one of the Atlanta news programs did an investigation at a few hotels (one being an upscale hotel) here of how the maids cleaned the glassware that is put on the counters in the bathroom. It was eye-opening but hardly surprising. Hidden cameras were placed in strategic positions. One of the worst was the maid who, after using her plastic glove to evidently clean the toilet (you could hear her swishing the water, then flushing), came to the sink and using the same glove picked up the glasses, sprayed them with a liquid that said 'Not for Consumption', rinsed them, picked up a dirty towel- or was it the dirty wash cloth which she sniffed-, dried them and placed them back -supposedly clean- for the next users.

The glasses and cups were meant to be sent to the dishwashers for washing and sanitizing. None that were shown on the program were.

The hotels have since said they are retraining the cleaning people and have replaced the glassware with prepackaged throw-away plastic glasses.

I am all for wiping down phones, tv remotes, etc. in hotel or motel rooms with germ killers. Stay safe out there, people.
