How wonderful! I love them all!! They've done such beautiful jobs on their masterpieces. I got my son to make some small mosaics a few months ago (he just turned 3 last week) he did them on the MDF circles and a heart and he covered them in glass nuggets and he absolutely had a ball, he was so proud of himself. As I was looking at your pics and I remembered the fun my son had I could fully imagine how much fun your grandkids had. Good on you for sharing such a wonderful experience with them. Linda, That is a VERY intriguing--brilliant, perhaps?--idea! I also like the idea of signing in the pink too, where it will be visible but won't stand out above the pattern of the quilt. There is something about writing on quilts in general that typically doesn't appeal to me from an aesthetic point of view. Signature blocks, for example are not my style -- But I do like the sentimental part of it. I think this could really add to the quilt. Just like Mary had people who contributed QOV blocks write their name and city on them -- I think of the veteran looking at their quilt and thinking of the people from all over thinking about, and appreciating, them. Hmmmm... I think I REALLY like this idea. BTW -- When My Step Daughter got married she got a plain white serving pattern and some pens that you write on ceramic w/ and then "bake" it in the oven and had all the wedding guests sign the plate. Very cool!

When I was first reading your description about swing arm lamps in the kitchen I wasn't so sure what to expect but I love it! I think what I like best, besides how perfect the color coordinates with your kitchen, is how symmetrical everything is. The rectangular lamps tie in perfectly with the square butcher block counter tops on either side of the stove, the rectangular tiles, the rectangular upper cabinets, etc. I'm a very symmetrical loving woman so it definitely works for me! Also - yay, boyfriend for hardwiring them!

What is it about kids and brooms/cleaning equipment? We bought a toy Dirt Devil to keep at the house and the boys would fight over it, so we bought another, but I ended up hiding them on Thanksgiving day before they got there because they drive me crazy with those things!!!! lol

Those are adorable - such cute kids.

Brenda, We had one here too, all 3 GB's from 6-2 wanted the dumb thing! Everyone else in the family hated it. I finally took the batteries out of it and told them it was broke, they told me I need more batteries! LOL Can't fool them for long!
I sold it last fall at our garage sale! Bwaaahaha Told the gal you've just made my DH very happy! I even put the batteries back in so I could sell it for 75 cents!
Wouldn't you know the next time Drew came he asked me for it! I did feel bad for a second or two!

PS - The weather in Florida has been awesome. We have a cold front going thru right now. Only got up to about 70 today but plenty of sunshine. Daytime temps supposed to be back up in the high 70's low 80's by Friday. Lows in the 50's. Perfect! Aren't you in the Ocala area? I'm in Palm Coast (south of St. Augustine). We should try to get together sometime this winter!

Thanks, everyone! Betsy, yes, we are in the middle of the Ocala Forest, about 25 miles northeast of Ocala, 22 miles south of Palatka.
We had a big snowstorm over the weekend, another today, another one predicted for this weekend. We can't wait to head south and get some sun and warm temps!
We've been to St. Augustine a couple of times, we think it's really pretty there.
