Connie, sometimes gift cards are the best thing for the hard to buy for.

My friend has a daughter that is hard to buy for so last week we went out and she bought a small thin Roots credit card type of wallet. My friend then filled it with gift cards for coffee, music, long distance phone cards, department store cards, book store card, restaurant, etc. This is a gift that keeps on giving. LOL

Is your friend a tea drinker? What about getting her a nice china tea cup and saucer and some teas from a tea store.

Lottery tickets are always a good gift for that hard to buy person. Do they like doing jigsaw puzzles, word puzzles, etc? I love getting a jigsaw puzzle every Christmas, the harder the better. LOL

How about giving your BF a homemade certificate that she can exchange for a day out with you? You'll buy lunch and pay for a matinee...or whatever you two usually like to do when you get together.

Does your uncle like nuts, fruitcake (hehe)? How about gift cards for his favorite restaurant or for pizza delivery?

You said Best GF has everything? Does she have a Reynolds Handi-Vac I bought myself one and love it. Below is a link to a thread about it. I listed some uses there, but will also be using it to repackage some pork tenderloin. I bought a whole one for $1.69 a pound, and by handi vacuuming it, it will keep longer with less likelihood of freezer burn.

For uncle, maybe a battery free wind up flashlight?
Hand held game of some sort?
Small swiss army knife...one small enough to really carry daily.

How about an electric throw cover. I have one, plus a back up in case mine goes bad. I love it. It comes out of the closet in Oct, and stays handy until maybe April or May.

One advertisement states,"You'll never want to leave the couch with this cozy warming throw by Sunbeam."
That is sooooo true.

They can be found at various stores and on line at different prices. I bought several on clearance last spring for about $20 a piece.

Does your uncle have a house? One of the most appreciated gifts I've ever given my husband was the Hoover Spin Sweep. It works like a little push street sweeper (no electric or gas required, just pushing it makes the rotating brushes spin) and the debris collects in a bin behind the sweeper. It makes really, really short work of sweeping the driveway and sidewalk. And it's fun. It's also the item in our garage that's borrowed most frequently by neighbors--EVERYone loves it!

Lottery tickets are okay for someone who likes getting them as a gift, but some feel like after they've scratched them off, they're left with nothing but a pile of trash. Others have moral objections to gambling, so I always hesitate to give that sort of thing as a gift--sort of a cop-out on the one hand, and on the other, you can actually hurt someone's feelings if they're ethically opposed to the premise.

For your friend, how about a gc to a large book store--the kind where you can buy books, have coffee or lunch and buy cd's? Most people can find something they want there. Or what about signing both of you up for a session at one of those places where you go and make up a bunch of gourmet dinners to put into your freezer? That would be a fun as well as productive way to spend an evening.

How about for GF- a coupon for a girl's day out with you. Lunch, movie, your treat.

Uncle is harder, he's in a nursing home, right? Maybe some mixed nuts, books on tape, stuff like that?

for the girlfriend: a magazine subscription or tickets to a concert

for the uncle: a certificate for a Honey-baked Ham
