Does anyone use IE 11??

Everytime I open Internet Explorer I get a window asking me to upgrade to IE 11.

What's it like? Do I want to? I did download IE10 one time, but I didn't like it, and I couldn't open some sites. So I uninstalled it.

I am using it. Just got a new computer and monitor (Christmas gift), but I cannot really give you a thumbs up or down on it because I'm struggling to get to know new hardware, software, windows 8.1 so nothing is easy at the moment! Had to stop at the computer store this morning to ask how to adjust brightness of the monitor. Sorry, I'm not much help.

I saw some youtube videos which might be helpful to you.

Jasdip you may want to wait a little longer to upgrade. I know there has been a lot of compatabilty issues.
The company I work for has an online quoting system that is buggy with the upgrade. (we are telling everyone to work through chrome or firefox for now)
Likewise, my bank has posted a notice on their website they are having issues as well.
I would suggest waiting a few weeks until everyone has a chance to catch up so you don't have issues.

I have several sisters who have lived in Canada for 5 or 10 years a time. They won't order packages by courrier. Only by USPS (Post Office). They tell me that UPS + Fedex are now taking serious advantage of their near-monopoly status. One way UPS + Fedex do this is by charging surprise fees that they demand from the receiving party in a letter sent about a month after the delivery. Calling customer service leads nowhere, and a threatening tone makes it clear that you might not receive any other deliveries if they are not satisfied with your payment history. I think they treat you as a business so you have less right to claim "human" service, and as a business you are "in arrears". I think in Canada people in general are more docile and there is no tradition of people rebelling against abuse. Apparently the postal service doesn't abuse its position. I find another abuse is when UPS and Fedex allow someone in China to send you something At Your Expense, without telling the Chinese party how much it will cost. They tell the person in China they will double their rates, and this leads him to believe it will cost double the rate displayed in his local currency. But this hides the fact that they will double the rate they would charge in dollars if someone tried to pay in advance (in dollars) to have something shipped prepaid from China -- and this information was not available beforehand -- and it turns out that the rate for an individual to prepay a shipment from China is about $100 for a package weighing a number of ounces. Double that to $200 and you get the picture. On top of all this is that somehow the courrier services seem to team up against you by sharing offices, drop-off services, and whatever, and claiming that the population density is not high enough for them to be competing against each other. Or something like that. But Canadian cities are just as densely populated as American cities, and Canadians actually mostly live in their big cities. This should be brought to the attention of the authorities. Anti-Trust, pre-Competition bureau, or whatever it's called. All of this tells me that UPS and Fedex stock price will fall once their squeezing is brought to a stop, worldwide. In the meantime, I am astounded how much money they make. It seems they also lose a lot of packages. I think the Post Office doesn't do this. The moral of the story is this: Whatever the postal service says they will charge, is all they will charge. The deliver what you give them to deliver. hth.

Hate it. Had to get it last March after XP computer toasted itself. Just this past weekend I received an e-mail from HP asking if I wanted to extend the warranty - with the ability to call a tech for assistance. I took it. I called them a lot during the early days since Best Buy sold me a printer and a flash drive for factory back-up that were compatible only with Windows 7 and the key card for Word 2013 - and I hate it - could only be used once and of course it didn't work the first time. Best Buy was useless and there is no way I should have had to pay the Geek Squad to hook up a basic printer - I didn't, I called the printer manufacturer and HP. HP had already sent me a warning re making sure my computer could handle Win 8.1 - I decided to just not even try it. The tech I spoke with when I bought the extended warranty suggested I not do it. Our Internet provider does not support Win 8 or Internet 10 so that is another problem. And if your problem is anything other than the Internet connection failing they transfer you to a "specialist" and charge you. Cdns. already pay a lot for basic services. Then there is the e-mail issue. My husband's office is going to stick with Win 7 and Word 2010. I can't pay to switch back to Win 7 because I never had it. But the difference between Win 7 and Win 8 is great - same with Word 2010 and Word 2013. All I use the computer for is Word, Internet and e-mail. I don't shop or belong to Facebook etc. I use a keyboard - and HP added a few keys so I am making mistakes that I never did before despite typing 120 wpm! I helped a friend book an air ticket using her tablet - I don't want a tablet - I need a real mouse. The future is looking grim computer wise. Then there is the cell phone issue. I don't have one - did for 2 years. I don't text. I would just like to have a plain cell phone that functions only as a phone. I have the phone that I used for the 2 years but it won't accommodate a pay as you go card. I don't understand how people can watch TV on a tiny little screen while driving yet need a 60 inch screen at home. I guess I am just too old!

Look at all these gorgeous pictures! The cat's my favorite, though .... abbycat, have you tried taking a fine Sharpie and coloring in the white edge? I'll tell you those Sharpies are my best friends, hiding a bunch of, uh, "issues." Our house is thirteen years-old and in most of the bathrooms and the laundry room is still the builder-installed almond-colored laminate atop builder grade oak cabs. I painted the cabs a cream color (BM's Calming Cream) in two of the bathrooms and WOW do those countertops sing now! I'm actually in the process of painting the laundry room cabs and even with just the primer the countertops already look better. They were never ugly, but it's funny how with the right color cab they look downright good. I cannot imagine changing them because they look good as is and they certainly function v. well! With all the stuff in the sundry bathrooms nothing has stained them and I find them super easy to clean. Okay I lie: if we ever find the money to "do" our master bed & bath the bath will be a gut job, so who knows what will be going on in there? Pas moi! But I find the laminate countertops we do have to be durable and pleasing.

We have just one. With an open plan, there would be no way to have a table lamp between one end of the sofa and the adjacent chair otherwise. There would be a huge dark area in the middle of the room or a 15 foot extension cord! Ours is in a slab, so we had to locate it very early in the process. I think we got it in the right place, looks like it will end up slightly under the couch, which I thought meant the cord would be "invisible," but we didn't account for the rug. Now that we are rug shopping and I am suffering from sticker shock, there's no way I'm cutting a slit in the rug that we haven't found yet. So the cord will be somewhat seen as it travels over the rug in order to go under it. One more variable to consider!

Chrome is my default browser, but I need to use IE for my work site, which is only compatible with IE. duh. I'll keep closing the pop-up window. :)

I got the notice this morning. I allowed the update.

I don't use IE except to read news articles. Today the articles were much better in appearance and organization.

I always take the updates because the folks on Computer Help say we should.

My default browser is Firefox.

I loved Firefox for years until recently but am now using Chrome with no problems. I have IE as backup.

I have it. I had a few problems the first couple of days, but it seems ok now. It updated automatically on my so I had no choice in it.

I updated to IE 11 a couple of weeks ago, it was with the critical updates for second week/Tuesday of November I think for me (Win 7 three yr old computer). My settings are to notify me only, and I download and install as I choose, usually waiting at least a couple of weeks in case 'bugs' show up, I'd rather they showed up on someone elses desk ;)

No problems at all and I use IE as primary, have Firefox for backup.

I'm another one who doesn't allow automatic updates. Notify me and let me decide whether to install them or not. Wait until the new version is out a while, and all the bugs are worked out, before installing.

When you're notified of a software update, what information sources do you refer to in deciding whether to install it? Most people don't have the knowledge, or the resources, to truly assess or even understand what's involved.

Updates ARE bug fixes as well as enhancements. If you don't install them, you're missing out on fixes for the bugs that have been worked out.
