What's Cooking in Your Kitchen Today?

I have Great Northern soup beans on the stove and cornbread is in the oven right now. Will add some oven baked chicken and some other things for today's meal. Anything baking or cooking in your kitchen?

Grabing a yogart before going to a 6year old birthday party between snow storms today. Son in law is driving as it is about 1 1/2 hour away and snow expected off and on and more (lots) coming in tomarrow, tue, wed.

Although it seems like a forgiving dough - I can taste that I cheated on the overnight ferment. Sorry your casserole dishes aren't big enough. I bake in a toaster oven so when my bread rises it burns on top. Another reason P a L'A is good - it spreads out more than up. I brush the bread with some slightly salty water right before it goes in the oven. But I lose that lovely floury rustic surface. Do you have a pizza stone? That helped me get a better crust back when I last had an oven - now I use it in my grill to make pitas. Also I read somewhere or another about using a SS restaurant dish lid as a cloche though I've never seen one large enough. I am currently jealously watching a neighbor build a stone wood-fired bread oven by his pond - the ultimate bread oven. He says he will advise me when I am ready to build one - and I definitely do not lack for rocks. However right now my 'yard' is festooned with logs, brush and firewood piles. Hopefully in the near future the logs will become a woodshed and I can move the firewood inside. Then maybe a bread oven - which will entail moving rocks. I'm tired just thinking about it all. Making some tea and toast and taking a nap.

I made this last night. Have made it before and it's a winner in our house! Yummy! I cook it longer 'cuz we like the chicken to fall off the bone. Should adjust liquids accordingly because of longer cooking time--I didn't quite add enough last night (left it cooking for a really long time while leaving DH at home--longer than I'd realized), so I had to add more stock/broth and wine shortly before serving. I finally started my Thanksgiving cooking that I meant to start 2 weeks ago! This year I'm experimenting with freezing and seeing how things turn out. My family isn't picky so I know they won't mind. So far I made a giant batch of caramelized onion cognac gravy, and I just finished my stuffing. It's a mix of cornbread, ciabatta and french bread, and normally I make an unsweetened corn bread but this year I tried a sweetened one and I don't like it as much. I don't think anyone will mind though. They may even like it as it adds a slightly sweet note to all the savory vegetables and herbs. It's cooling now and will be packed into freezer bags. I also prepped and froze all my onions, celery and herbs all chopped and ready to go. I removed all my corn on the cob (16 ears!) and froze it for my corn casserole and picked through 3 lbs of spinach (3 pounds of spinach is a LOT!) and froze for my baked spinach dish. I think this is going to save so much time and stress for me so I can actually relax on Thanksgiving since I make enough for an army and can't seem to stop. :) I have a second stuffing that I'm trying this year that was posted a few weeks back in the vegetarian stuffing thread so I'll make that later this week. Then I think I'll be done until the week of.

Finished turning my duck stock into soup, very happy with the result. At the moment, resisting the temptation to make gingerbread -- I've had so many treats already the past 2 weeks! The gray skies and dropping temps really make me crave something like that.

It is nice and sunny at times here today, but not real warm. Cheryl is in the kitchen now fixing some food she brought and then they are going to put up my new drapery rods and drapes in the living room and put the old ones downstairs in my kitchen and family room.

Working on decorating, but may make some Pumpkin bread later today along with some Sausage Pinwheels.Just depends on how the decorating goes..Tony has 2 of the 3 trees up. I put the 3rd one up by myself...it is just a little fiber optic tree I have in my kitchen.

I need to get up and get busy...have soup to make and laundry to do

I'm thinking of trying that sugar free pumpkin cheesecake, but it calls for almond meal. I have almonds, but directions I've found for almond meal say to use a coffee grinder and flour sifter, and I have neither. I have a hand blender, I will try that. Only need 1/2 cup.

Right now soy wax..

But I baked bacon earlier and have dough rising for english muffins.

It smells of Cranberry Ginger Spice Tea and Creme Brulee...
Those are not edible though. ;)

Next up Vanilla Bean Bliss and Vanilla Latte.. Might be followed up with Cinnamon Vanilla and Ooey Gooey Caramel Goodness...

Been working on the kitchen project all day, but enough crap in the fridge to scavenge a tasty meal. Did cook up a pan of Sloppy Joe for next week. Alas, no leftover turkey to run thru the old grinder for that. Taking a break to enjoy Happy Hour.

Carcasses of two turkeys and water in the crockpot for turkey stock. It smells fabulous.

Turkey stock is on and I have some whole wheat dinner rolls in the oven.
Not sure what will happen for dinner......maybe a salad and some left over meatloaf with some potatoes and gravy....and some rutabegas......and some Brussels's sprouts.

I made, from scratch, belgian waffles for breakfast. Then ham sandwiches toasted on light rye for lunch(I sliced a whole ham shank and froze 5 slices in each package for later use). Then sliced and marinated beef which is in the dehydrater, for beef jerky. It's on a timer out in the garage, will turn off at 1:30 am.
