my cat (dead now) had gone through, being a stray in the middle of winter and then went to the shelter and we got him and he was not neutered so we had to do that and then he was a happy cat until our cat wanted to get out of the house more due to construction and redoing our basement after a flood and his leg got stuck in a fox trap, so he got that amputated and he has had a brother all of the time he has been here as we took in stray kittens but sadly one of them died cause of a head injury. her name was luna but then my other cat who was siblings to luna named Leo had been here for 7 years but he had passed away due to kidney failure and the three-legged cat had died 8 months after the amputation he was hit by a car and after Leo had died we found two older stray kittens who had no microchip and was unspayed and luckily we got them before there first heat. so we had taken them in and their new names are, Baby and Thumbs. baby being a smaller and most likely the runt or the other cat hogged all the food, but they had been underfed but in really good shape for a stray living in an old den of any other animal, no other cats were found and they seemed to have no other family and snow was approaching soon and they had no chip so we kept them. there spaying will be in a few days and they will be maybe able to go back outside as they were strays and now I think once I have a home of my own I think I know what my job will be, most likely a vet or a cat foster. thank you for reading, have a good day.

We had the same situation. The kittens were too small for the Hav-a-hart, so we caught them by putting food in a wire dog crate, and, I kid you not, tying a string to the crate door and hiding behind the back door of the house. When the kittens were all inside, we pulled the crate door shut with the string. The kittens were not happy, but they weren't strong enough to get out. We later got Mom with the Hav-a-hart trap for cats. We had Mom neutered and vaccinated and then let her back out, fed her, got her a Feral villa house to stay in. We did the same with her "beau", a male cat that hung around with her. They stayed nearby for a couple of years but we haven't seen them lately. We actually kept the kittens as indoor cats but I'm with you on the vacuuming thing. There is nothing in my house that has not been graced with cat hair. It's very kind of you to care for them as you have planned and I wish you good luck.

Success! Following the advice you all generously shared, we set the trap yesterday afternoon and when we went back in the evening, there he was. He must still be in fright-mode because we still haven't heard him meow. I brought him to the vet this morning and he was neutered, chipped, administered a 3-way intranasal vaccination, had his teeth cleaned and treated with a dosage of Revolution. I will need to wait a couple of days to hear the results of the Feline leukemia and FIV blood test. Here is what startled me. Vet said Prince is between 6 and 12 years old!! I didn't think strays could survive that long on the outside. I knew he looked scruffy but I thought that was because he was homeless! So, he is resting now in his own private room with all the accouterments of a precious kitty. We are crossing our fingers on the blood test. For now, we are happy to be providing him a safe home.

My goodness. I posted months ago about a cat I trapped and took to the vets. Many of you were pleased. I suppose I shared this ....I'm not sure why. I did the best I could do this time. I was unable to capture and vet this cat. When my boys told me what they witnessed I called for help immediately. And I continued calling. That is all I could do this time. Some of you make it sound as if I did something wrong. ..I didn't. As for what I said being to sensitive....its a ugly fact of life. There are sick and homeless cats EVERYWHERE not just in my neighborhood. I called for help which is the best I could do at present. But as for my post being to sensitive. ..well social media sure isn't for the faint of heart.
