ok, my family can count on me forgetting where I hid one present any year. I do usually remember sometime during Christmas Day.

yep - did it this morning, as a matter of fact. There's a DVD for DS still in the car (was my hiding place) and a whole shopping bag of socks/underwear/pajamas that was supposed to go into DS and DH's stockings, lol!

Whew! I feel better knowing I am not the only goofus... NOT to imply that anyone else here is a goofus... :-)

Yes!! I have! One Christmas we were opening gifts and I noticed one SIL had quite a few gifts left to open while the other SIL seemed finished. I thought that was odd until DD came and asked Mom didn't you get Brian anything? Then I realized I had wrapped all the gifts for the one SIL thinking I had bought an extra whatever and thought I had already wrapped for the 1st SIL. Ran frantically to the spare bedroom looking for anything. Snuck a couple of DH gifts and changed tags. Found a few leftover gifts, he had a wild assortment of JUNK. He never said a word as we explained we had forgotton his in the bedroom. Now I keep detailed lists of what goes to who and mark it off as I wrap it.

Too funny. My kids always counted on there being one "after Christmas" gift. Being so frugal, I shop specials and sales all year, and hide things away. I hide them in one spot, but it always seems there is one bag or box that doesn't get wrapped and put under the tree. Don't feel bad. Just tell him you were saving it for when he didn't have other things on his mind. After all, Christmas lasts all day.

I bought my son's GF a gift in the summer for her and her roommate and I'm STILL looking for the danged thing!!

Oh I hate that. I'll be out shopping, and usually pile everything into the guest bedroom, until time to wrap them. That is usualy the morning of who's ever home we're going to. If it is here, I'll still wrap them all at once. It may take all day, or maybe two. But I'll think I forgot to buy this DGK something, and then buy them something else, and forget I'd already gotten them this or that. Got that? So, if it looks uneven, I just leave some of them back, for a BD or something later in the year.

I remember my brother and I and our cousins would get together at our place for rakshabandhan (the sisters tie a coloured thread - called raakhi- around the brothers' wrist alongwith the aarti and then we'd exchange gifts) - and a cousin completely forgot the raakhi and the gift - and remembered it only when she went home. We teased her no end, though I did keep it until next year so my brother got two raakhis and two gifts then.

One year we all got a cute birthday card for my brother and asked this same cousin to bring it. She came over for the party - and forgot the card! The next year he got two cards LOL

A friend forgot her DDs ice skates and a couple of other things but remembered later on in the day. She knocked the fireplace screen in the living room over and threw the wrapped gifts in there. The family was celebrating in the family room, when she cried, " Oh, look. Santa must have dropped some gifts as he came down the chimney." It worked. I think she was quite clever.

This year I forgot to send BIL a birthday gift in October, so we sent him 2 gifts for Christmas. THen today I forgot to ive my DD age 19 two gift certificates. Well, I can give them to her later tonight,it's still Christmas.

I did it this year too! I forgot to put a pretty expensive watch that I got for DH under the tree...it was wrapped but hidden in our room! Then I found another gift I forgot to wrap for son and DIL...after they left last night I found it....it was a huge heavy box of ceramic baking/serving dishes! How could I forget that...it's been in my way for a month! I was so tired yesterday I'm surprised I got through the day! Today is more relaxing...no rushing at all! We had the whole family here last night..today is just 5 of us and Austin...in a few hours!

I bought Jerry a cycling poster a while back, but got him a frame for it just very recently. Then I thought I re give it to him at Christmas and I had forgotten. Just went and pulled it out from behind the guest bed, and handed it over. :)

Every year, SIL#2's mother sends us gifts. I just hate it b/c she is impossible to buy for. Last year I thought well finally, she's not sending us anything. Then in July, DD#2 says, oh, I had this in a closet and forgot about it, it's your present from MIL. I could have spanked her. Well, today, here they come w/ it. Expensive lotions and bubble bath and fancy soaps and stuff for DH. What do you do? Now, I've got to think of something. I sure don't mind buying something, I just don't know WHAT to buy. Rats!!!

Every year I would have something hidden and would forget it. The kids got so they all looked at me and would ask what was missing. Thought I was the only one with this problem. Glad to hear I'm not!

LOL! I forget something every year! This year, I bought DH a cotton throw when we went to VA for the funeral before Thanksgiving. We took the long way and stopped in PA at Horseshoe Curve. While he went up top to watch the trains, I stayed down and looked in the gift shop. I saw the throw hanging on the wall and asked the sales lady if she had something I could hide it in. She only had an office paper box. It worked and DH didn't even know it was in the trunk until the next day when he went to load the suitcases. I hid it when we got home, and remembered it yesterday! He likes it and was snuggled under it last evening. I "think" that's all I forgot this year, tho I have some things that I ordered, were supposed to be here before Christmas, that still haven't arrived. I keep getting a recording that all lines are busy due to heavy holiday volume. I finally got my internet back today, so emailed the company to cancell the order. I ordered the items the day before the cut off date for shipment in time for the holiday.

We had something sort of similar this year. As we were leaving my DD's house after opening presents, I asked if two of the children had opened my gifts. "Oh, yes," I was told, so I accepted that. I figured the kids had neglected to thank me.

But when I got home I realized my DS hadn't opened his "big" gift, nor had I seen my DD open one of hers. Sure enough, a bag of gifts had gotten lost in the shuffle under the tree. :-(

Well, I didn't exactly forget to give a gift this year -- but I have forgotten where I hid it! It's just a silly thing for hubs, but it's something I know he will like. I'm just clueless as to where it is!!!
