Hi hobby, I just wanted to check if any of your Rocoto peppers are starting to turn colour. I guess I want to get a sense of when mine might start to. I only have one or two of mature size, but several close enough. I must have about 15 pods right now. How are the rest of your peppers doing? Are you getting regular night frosts? I've yet to have my first, crossing fingers! My sweets (bell and mini-sweets) are almost all done, ripe and eaten. My Scotch Bonnets are pruned back for overwintering and the last pods getting overripe on the counter, lol, I can only eat so many of these and have made enough hot sauce to last until next season. Gotta try that jelly though, or freeze them. I have my two early, smaller Jwala ripening their second flush and the third, in-ground, late one, looking amazing and large, a lush green and putting out more flower and pods still, it must be over 50 by now, crazy at this time of year!

Well, Jeff, being as it's a chimera you need to watch for any natural suckers - allow them to grow on a bit before you remove and root them. Or you could cut off the crown, root that and then propagate the resulting suckers on the original plant (not something I would do if that was my only plant of that variety, but that's up to you.) Or you could try propagating the blossom stem, although I've read that the larger the leaves on the blossom stem the better the chances - and I don't see any at all on this variety, at least in your photo. That's something someone else would have to give you tips on as I've never done it successfully. And I'm sure you know that leaf propagation would certainly yield baby plants, but odds are very slim indeed that any would be chimeras like the parent plant.
