buy the blue shampoo for white and gray hair. i get mine from my hairdresser but you can buy it in most grocery and drug stores. good luck!! ;)

I forgot to mention that I use the purple Jhirmack Silver Plus shampoo. I may get the Indola color mousse and see it that helps even it out, if not it's to wash out with shampoo. I could get low lights but I really don't want to go back to coloring again....that was the whole point in the first place. I think my hair will be like Mom's, my older sister got Dad's beautiful silver all over color.

You can purchase a color shampoo, most drugstores sell them or you could put in a light brown toner from a bottle like fanciful. It's temporary but you need to use something temporary until the streaks grow out. Or you could use a semi permanent in a light neutral brown. It lasts about six weeks and eventually fades and it would take you through the grow out process. Make sure it's a neutral, ash will make it greenish and gold will make it orangy. I'm a salon owner and we do that most of the time for a grow out. Growing out hair to natural always causes problems like this.

About grey hair; I wouldn't mind it if it looked good, but mine contributes to making me look washed out, so every 2 to 3 months I do the lowlights. The good thing about the lowlights is there is no growing out line. Darn, my mother has beautiful silvery white hair.

My hair started turning white/grey in college. I now have snow white hair and have not colored it in decades. I use only a clear colored shampoo or the ones that are a blue shade. I don't put stuff on my hair; I do think gels and sprays and amber colored shampoos tend to yellow my hair. I never use the bluing rinses or shampoos. My experience with them is that they turn my hair a dull gray the same color as a US Navy ship--really ugly on one's head. I wear my hair short, and I know it always looks whiter after every haircut because the older, yellowish hair was cut off.
