Fun aprons! It's very flattering to have someone say "where's mine, I want one too!" That's a success for you!

I have a cast-off Woody-shirt that I've been hanging onto because I like it so much, maybe I'll make a pinnie out of it. Did you find any use for the back of the shirt?

Love the painted glass, very classy, Susan! I was just reading about drinks from the "old days", where a martini was at most 4 ounces, compared to the 10+ oz ones of today. Seems like everything is super-sized these days.

It's true! I don't think my martini glasses are 10 oz., but they're definitely bigger than four. The recipes that make a 3-3.5 oz drink look lost in the bottom of one of these.

I started painting on wine glasses so people could tell their drinks apart. :-)

Thank you, Myrna! I didn't see your post when I wrote mine. I got the idea for the aprons from a post here at the KT. There's lots of talent here.......I'm in awe of the quilters and knitters/crocheters. They're in a class by themselves!

Agree, those aprons are terrific. Must show that to my crafty sister-in-law, and you must have a steady hand to paint like that. Nice.

I'm not a particularly skilled sewer--trust me, minimal sewing was required for these aprons! I spent more time cutting and ironing than I did sewing. This was my first experience using a rotary cutter. It was harder than I thought it would be! I have a nice mat and ruler, but that didn't prevent me from veering off at times. I got better at it with practice. Mostly. :-)

planning on making a two for my sisters in law... but
I forgot all about them! I'll be on the look out and
maybe start early for next year, or for birthdays!

Did you use the Pebeo paint? I used some on some small
tiles for some craft quite a while ago, and the paint
really is permanent. It's great!

I too, admire quilters, knitters and crocheters! lol
Also, my friend used to do petite point. So amazing!
I'm into much bigger crafting. Things that you can
see progress faster! lol I guess I'm not so dainty! lol

I think I have two bottles of Pebeo paint. The ones I used for these glasses were PermEnamel and Delta's CeramCoat. When the paint is dry I cover it with a coat of clear gloss glaze, which pretty much disappears into the glass.

The apron recipients didn't realize I'd made them until I told them. Then my daughter said, "Oh--I was thinking, I didn't know Chaps made aprons!" LOL

I saw the apron post, too and was going to make them for some friends. However, I then remembered that my 50 year old sewing machine went to sewing machine heaven this year. I don't know why, it may having gotten used 50 times in that 50 years. I think they are darling. You did a great job.

Alisande, those aprons are too cute. Can you post a link to the instrustions/pattern. I love aprons that cover the bodice area; I'm always dribbling and splattering.

I recently read that 40% of younger men are cooking most of the meals today. I think that was in an article about Kraft creating more quick-and-easy 'meal kits'. Better sew fast, before these are in stores!

Our own DS does a lot of the cooking/housework.

Sorry, Flamey, I forgot to answer this. The ties are cut from the shirt back, and also the (optional) pocket.

I had the hardest time finding a suitable shirt for my son-in-law's apron because he's so tall. One of the shirts I bought, cut, and then rejected was by Banana Republic, made from 100% Irish linen. I ended up using the back as a cloth in which to wrap Bonesy-the-outside-cat's heated disk in her dog house. I told her no other cat in the neighborhood has such an elegant wrap. :-)

unbuttonable is NOT a word! ahahahaha

They're still unbuttonable. Or buttonable, whichever Chrome likes. (It dislikes both, apparently.) In fact, you have to unbutton a couple of buttons in order to slip it over your head.

I just finished mine. Mine has two patch pockets, because I'm special. :-)
