We always stay in New Year's Eve--too dangerous to be out on the road with all the drunks.

NY Day, either DD will come here, or we'll head up to her area to meet for lunch.

Of course, if we're home, the Mummer's Parade will be on TV all day. It's not New Year's without it.

I'm going to be babysitting for my grandson. My kind of New Year celebration!

We probably will go to the local cafe/bar--2 blocks--as they will have a shrimp/rib eye stead/lobster choice. We don't drink, but it will be avaiable for those who want it.
Probably with our family and some friends. Then come back home and watch the ball come down and go to bed. Then New Year's day probably will watch the Rose Bowl Parade -nothing special planned. When we lived in CA many years ago, would go to it with the kids.

Just got back from Honey Baked store with the ham.

We're having 2 other couples over for dinner and games.

I decided that I've had enough of cooking though, so I just finished placing an order from an outstanding catering place near me - we had the food about a week ago at a Christmas party and they are the bomb!

We drink very lightly, if at all, and they don't have far to drive back home. What a treat it will be for me to have a wonderful meal in the comfort of my own home that I didn't cook! YAY!

If we got out at all~~DH and I go for Chinese~~~we do nothing on New Years day, I like to cruise the shops once in awhile, but not this year believe it or not I am tired of shopping. I have a huge stack of magazines I need to go through, I feel I have not even read some of them. I am tired we have DGD (age four) this weekend~~~by the time she leaves I will be pooped out. I am going to stay in sweats all day and do whatever I want!

No we stay in, sometimes we go out to dinner and might do that this year, but home early and safe from the crazies.
Watch tv or movies, games, drink some Asti at midnight, that is about it. Oh and do the bury the money thing.

Naw, we used to always go out with friends or have neighborhood parties. We didn't know how nice it was to stay home and bring the New Year in all over the world via TV. Not even doing anything special for dinner--probably warmed Brie and fruit.

New Year's day will be the Rose Bowl parade and watching FSU in their bowl game and UF in theirs. Not doing the usual greens, black-eyed peas and pork. Just ham, baked sweet potatoes and peas.

I am going to pick my friend up from the airport, take her to get her car at the repair shop and if she is not too tired, go out for Chinese food. Hope to be in bed and asleep by 10. I have never liked New Year's Eve.

I've never been a big New Year's Eve person. Last year we went to the club and it was very nice but the only reason we went is because I thought it would be the last chance to spend New Year's Eve with a dear friend of ours. He loved to dance and never missed a party at the club. I was right, so I'm glad we went but we'll just stay home. Sure miss Guy Lombardo though. When I was out today, I saw some beautiful Lobster tails at Fresh Market ($20.00 a piece). I didn't buy them. Told DH about them and when he's out, he can pick them up if he wants to spring for the bucks. If not, I have some crab in the refrigerator and will probably make crab cakes, might even try Glenda's Alaskan cole slaw. A glass of champagne and that is it.

53 years ago come New Years Eve, DH and I had our first date. We remember it but don't do anything special. Last couple of years, our DD#3, who is single, comes and we have fried oysters. That's as much celebrating as we do or want to do. New Years Day? Nothing planned.

We will be going to where I work for dinner. They have a steak and lobster special and we have a gift certificate to use that will almost cover it. Then come home and be in bed before midnight. Next day watch the RB parade and definitely not watch football.

We'll have an early dinner of Mexican food, with friends who will bring their now teens if they can talk them into it. Recent years we've just come home after that, DH at least will be asleep before the ball drops - New Years hasn't been our night to be up, out for a long time now.

New Years Day I will cook a prime rib for just the two of us.

For about the first 10 or more years we were married, year after year, we went to the same club party with the same group of friends. Inexpensive drinks, music, dancing and NO FOOD. As you can imagine, it was a little crazier night than we prefer now, always too much alcohol, too much noise, at least one couple (sometimes two) in our group arguing with each other and ending the year on a bad note.

Why we went as many years as we did, I don't know. But the thought of watching New Years Day football with a headache has no appeal to either of us any more :)

We turned pro several years ago and leave NYE partying to the amateurs. We will stay home and I will cook a nice dinner.

I so miss the big oyster roasts when I lived in the SC Lowcountry. Those local oysters are the best I've ever had. They would be scrubbed clean then shoveled onto a big grate over a wood fire. Soaked burlap bags would be tossed on top and the oysters would be steamed until barely ope

Then, they would be shoveled onto the big plywood tables covered with newpapers, bowls of melted butter, horseradish / catsup sauce, and crackers.

Steaming bowls of cob corn and smoked sausage are usually available, as well as slaw, fried fish, rolls and cornbread.

Gosh, I miss those big outdoor feasts.

Nothing special. I'll make soup and we have wine, so we'll be fine!

Going over to a friend's house for dinner. Will be back home early, and will probably be asleep before 2013 rolls in.

I don't like to be out among the DUI folk on New Year's Eve.

We usually do a progressive dinner with several of our neighbors but this year many are out of town so we're hosting a dinner party for just one neighbor. A nice quiet evening with friends.

I sure like reading about everyone's plans. Raven, I'd forgotten about Asti. I don't care for champagne but Asti isn't so dry.

Rhizo, I loved reading about your low country New Year's eve. I could almost taste it (and it was delicious :-)

And Morz--I know exactly what you mean. A smiliar thing happened with our group, so after we stayed home one year, we couldn't believe how much fun it was just waiting for the ball to drop and seeing the new year in from all over the world on TV. Haven't been out since.

I did my NYE partying in earlier years. Now I enjoy staying home and watching everything on TV. I like going to bed at my usual time and getting up to watch the Rose Parade. I will DVR the Rose Bowl Game because we have a men's basketball game at 1 p.m.

We're going out to dinner with a couple of friends. The restaurant is nearby so no problems about getting out on the highway.

Going out with a group of friends to a bar/restaurant. Plan to bring in the new year there. Good thing is if we drink too much, they have sober rides home for everyone. I only plan on drinking a couple but if I end up having to much, it's nice to know we can get a sober ride. I think more places should do that. I would imagine it would depend on the distance though but all of us friends are at most 10 miles away and most are about 1 to 2 miles away. It's a win win for everyone.
