What's your Christmas weather forecast like?

Here's mine. I hope it changes for the better as the week progresses:

Christmas Day...Mostly cloudy with a chance of sleet...rain showers and freezing rain. Highs in the mid 30s. Chance of precipitation 50 percent.

Friday Night...Freezing rain and sleet likely. Little or no sleet accumulation. Lows in the upper 20s. Chance of precipitation 70 percent.

Saturday...Rain or freezing rain or sleet likely. Highs in the upper 30s. Chance of precipitation 60 percent.

Saturday Night...Mostly cloudy with a 30 percent chance of snow showers. Lows in the lower 20s.

Sunday...Mostly cloudy with a 30 percent chance of snow showers. Highs in the lower 30s.

YES WE'RE UNDER WINTER WEATHER WATCHES AND ADVISORIES at this time...could get up to 18+ inches of snow (we never know until closer to the time, depends on where the storm front is, could be significantly more, or less)---RUDOLPH WE'LL NEED YOU IN MINNESOTA!

Sat: Snow tapers to flurries, temps drop with sub zero windchills. (17)

Yes folks it will be almost blizzarding (I know it's not a word) here in Minnesota on Christmas Eve and Christmas day. Oh well, that's MN.

Ours doesn't sound good. I worry about people who insist on traveling in spite of the warnings not to. DS & DGS are planning on coming to our house for C. Eve. Those plans can be changed if the winter storm blows in. Hubs & I are staying home. Please stay safe, Dear KT family. Dottie

I use my local tv station's website, WGRZ Buffalo, and I use weather.com because they say that they get my temperature as close as 1/4 mile from where I live. However, if any of them say 32 degrees, we cover the trees no matter what, just because of microclimate issues and just because anything can happen, temp wise, overnight on a clear night. I really want to stress that blankets are the best way to go for freezes that come along. We use 2 blankets over each tree, and as of today and having dealt with a month of frosts/mostly freezes down as low as to the mid 20's, I have zero foliage damage whatsoever. This is not a brag, this is me sitting here stunned realizing that what I thought was me going overboard in protecting these trees, was not overprotecting at all; it was doing exactly what they needed, having just been planted 1 month ago. So anyone out there, if you are protecting trees 4 feet and under like I am, using tomato cages ($2 a piece) and a couple of fleece blankets over them, will likely protect your plants 100%. They did mine. They're calling for 32 here tonight, and possibly down to mid 20's in certain areas, so we just went out and covered them a little bit ago, before my husband went to work. It's a pain because it takes about 45 minutes to cover all of them, but seeing the leaves bright green and not having any effects whatsoever, has been worth these weeks of aggravation.

Thumbtacks... I use Weather Underground, though their new and 'improved' smartphone app is really starting to get on my nerves (lots of hang-ups, time outs and no quick reference for forecasted Lows. Weather Underground tends to be close, but there are still times when the margin of error seems a bit wide. I use it for getting a general idea and then figue in +/- 8F. Still, it only forecasts about two weeks in advance and anything beyond tomorrow is likely to change on an hourly basis. AccuWeather has a long-range forecast for checking a month ahead, but it is mostly based on averages of previous years, so not very reliable.

Reed, I feel sorry for Tulsa. This morning Dr. Forbes distinctly mentioned Tulsa having a '7' TorCon more than he mentioned OKC, though at one point he said the storms would form near OKC and move towards Tulsa. The issue will be how violent they are when they form...even if they form in the OKC area, they could be violent from the start or they might gain in strength as discrete cells merge together into a squall line. I think today I wouldn't want to be in Iowa either. We have crazy wind here today. I guess it must be from outflow boundaries from yesterday's storms. I have gigantic trees north of my garden and they were dancing back and forth in the wind so much that it was scaring me and I came inside to get away from them. If a tree is going to fall on my garden, it needs to do it while I am not in the garden. Wulfleton, I am sorry you're feeling homesick. Count your blessings every single day because you do have a lot to be grateful for. Oklahoma has beautiful weather in April and October. The rest of the year we just cringe, hold our breath and hope for the best. The good thing is that once you have learned how to successfully garden in OK, you can garden anywhere. Today's weather likely won't turn out to be nothing, but maybe we'll luck out and the worst storms will hit sparsely populated areas so at least fewer people are harmed that way. Dawn

Carrie, thanks for the weather link. It sounds as cold as I feel right now. My hands are so cold and stiff I can hardly type ... lol. I keep saying I want to get where I don't have to cover plants with blankets, but just got in from doing it ... just one more year (maybe). Have to let some newer things develop better roots to withstand freezing. Also watered some herbacious plants as they withstand cold better if well watered, but not the cactus and agaves. They like it dry. Y'all stay warm now, ya' heah? And crack the ice in the bird baths tomorrow for the birds.

for orlando...normals are 72/52...yesterday & today have been 60 HORRIBLY cold for us :-(

We are about 2 hours south east of Liz. Friday with be in the low 80's. We plan on going for a motorcycle ride after breakfast.

Well I hope the weather forecasters are right... we have the snow.. now for the holiday they are predicting temp high of 41...good.. and chance of rain... hope it holds true.
No snow needed... families traveling need a break.

I'm just feelilng sick about our forecast.....we planned to drive down to Mpls. area Christmas Eve, with celebration on Christmas day. DGD and her new husband (military) were to fly in for a three day visit, then off to his family in Illinois. Most of the family had planned on the Christmas party, so I don't know what will happen now, with this horrible weather predicted for Minnesota.

Here in our area of Georgia:

Thursday: Few showers. Highs in the low 50s and lows in the upper 40s.
Friday: Occasional showers possible. Highs in the low 50s and lows in the mid 30s.

In other words, cold and wet.

I'm on Florida's Space Coast and we're supposed to be around 80 on Christmas day. It's been cooler here for a couple of days and I wish those temperatures would last through Christmas.

Winter Storm watch all through this week.

Supposed to be snow and ice mix today. And I still have shopping I need to do.

I swear...I'll never do this again. I'm going to start buying in January...lol

Another one in Minnesota, here. Winter Storm Watch from Wed. evening through Christmas Day. It's only 3 miles to my parents house and if we don't make that we'll go when we get dug out. I should mention that those are 3 miles on mostly gravel roads down this treacherous, curvy hill.

I don't like the 'ice' part.

Just got that off the weather channel site. It's changed and now cooler that earlier predicted. But that's Florida for 'ya.

I feel for those with ice and excessive snow in their forecast. It makes it so hard on the families wishing to travel.

Our forecast for the week is temps in the 40's and rain, then colder air and snow on Christmas day. I haven't heard how much they are predicting, but since the temps will be in the 40's in the days before I hope the roads will be fine.

Horrible!!!!!!!
Beginning tomorrow heavy snow, it will last til Friday.
I have a knot in my stomach already!!!!! I know I will worry myself sick..

DGD is supposed to come from Mn to her Daddy's tomorrow night.Will leave Thursday evening.

DD Heather is on her way to pick up DGS Drew right now. There is no school, nor daycare and boys Mom has to work. Drew will be in town by early evening.

Other DGS Hunter was to be with his Dad and come Thursday afternoon after work. The other grandparents are like 12 miles from me.

DD #1 (the boys' Mom) was going to come THursday afternoon after work too. Her and her ex's family with Hunter will have to travel 120 miles cross country!

The worst part of the storm is expected to be from Thursday afternoon into Friday afternoon!
So now I am worrying about DD #1 driving alone and what if she doesn't make it here?

Worrying about DGS Hunter and his dad not making it.

Worrying about DGD being on the road (DGD's family goes no matter what the forecast!)

They are saying between 8 and 12 inches of snow!!! Winds 35 to 50 MPH! This would paralyze the state and close roads and both Interstates here!

D@mn it! I was so hoping for a brown Christmas this year and not have to worry!!!!!!!!!!!

Our weather forecast is for bad weather the rest of the week. Snow, ice, wind, etc. I just returned from grocery shopping and my car won't leave the garage again until Thursday noon when we deliver Meals on Wheels. DS and I are candle lighters at church Thursday evening and then we deliver for Meals on Wheels again on Friday. I am so glad I don't have to leave town for the holidays.

I live on the beautiful central coast of California.....usually wonderful weather.
But we are having a cold snap....it didn't get over 60 today and freezing tonight.

Just went under a winter warning and a blizzard warning for the area here in northern ND for Christmas. Planing to stay home anyway, but concerned about GD and great gk coming Christmas eve. At least if the make it here, they can always stay overnight.
All of us in the midwest, prayers for safe travel, and PLEASE do not take chances. Your life is worth much more that getting together.
