I am 67 and am thinking about getting a Wii with a fitness cart. Am trying to find something to help me to start doing some exercising. Wondering if anyone has the Wii and your opinion of it?

Why not start exercising with an in home walking dvd, such as Leslie Sansones..lot less expensive than wii

I have the walking tape and love them
I use two long rolls of Christmas wrap for balancing (like ski poles)

DS has the Wii and it is nice too. they have regular exercise programs for it too. besides you can bowl and play tennis

Wii Fit Plus is great. I also love Wii Sports boxing - it will give you a workout too. I found some gloves that hold the remote at Big Lots and that made it even more fun. We have the Wii Fit Plus, which has the balance board and related exercises and games. It came with one remote and one nunchuck. The balance games require the board. You could play games with just the Wii component (into which you insert the game disks), the sensor (sits on top of or under your TV monitor), a remote and a nunchuck. There is also an 'add-on' to the remote that makes it more sensitive -- fine tunes the way a player's motions make the on-TV Wii character move. If you want players to compete together, each needs a remote, and for some games, a nunchuck. Our whole system was under $300 at Costco four months ago. STOCK UP ON BATTERIES!

The Wii "Sports Resort" has some upper body games, like shooting baskets and swordfighting. There's frisby golf, kayaking, bowling, and a 'bike race' where you pump your hands to 'pedal'. Pingpong, too. Sorry for your injury!

I have the Wii, and the fitness DVD. I like it. I found it may be a little difficult if you have arthritis. I do the Yoga poses, and several other things. It keeps track of your progress, weight, etc.
The Sports DVD is fun too. We do that a lot. And, it can be played by yourself too. I'm in the early 60's, with slight arthritis, but I would recommend this.

LOVE LOVE LOVE our wii. it has literally changed our life, we both LOVE exercise now and have both lost weight and gained TONS of muscle. we sleep better, have more energy and get alot more done and don't waste time watching TV. i work out to Ea Sports Active and More Workouts and throw in some yoga from a few other games. DH uses Golds Gym cardio-boxing, Biggest Loser and wii fit plus. we have every fitness game i think except the new one from jenny macarthy. we have other games as well but rarely use them now lol ~ liz

We love our Wii too. Even the simple bowling is exercise. DH and I set up challenges and have a ball playing together. Neither of us are in the best physical health and it does help to keep us active. I have to get more of the programs and really get into the fitness part though. I say go for it!

We got our WII a little over a year ago, with the fitness and sports packages.

The Sports games have replaced playing cards as the after dinner activity when the family gets together.
We use the fitness package a few times a week.

I think it's a real value for the price.

i also meant to say that i do have alot of exercise DVD's & VHS tapes and a lifestyle trainer. i used them in spurts never getting into a habit like i should. i still use a yoga set on VHS actually. w/ a wii & fit board, exercise is interactive w/ a personal trainer, it critiques your form, effort and consistency w/ exercise. you can set the level you want and change that ea day if you want. on EA workouts, it adds reps and changes exercises as you progress based on how easily or fast you do the exercises. you also step up to higher and higher levels of resistance bands adding use-ability over time. the only draw back i have found using it for 6 mo now is changing equipment via holding the numchuk/remote & using the resistance bands. i did invest in a wireless numchuk and it has greatly improved my enjoyment...no wires to get smacked w/ lol and communication w/ the numchuk and console is improved alot.

good luck i hope you get it and find you like it. i NEVER thought i would love working out again, i used to be in top shape until i was 30 lol due to sports and workouts. but now i do ~ liz

I've exercised for many years, and I am fit...but traditional exercise is boring to me. I think something that is fun and varied, gives you feedback, and tracks progress, like the Wii, is a great idea. I have used a number of the programs on it and think it provides a real benefit. Go for it!

Got a Wii and a Wii Fit Plus balance board last Saturday and love it. Regular exercise is B-O-R-I-N-G!! The Wii is fun and holds my interest. DH is 67 and he likes it too. He doesn't spend as much time on it as I do but he has COPD and really has to pace himself so he can breathe. We have finally gotten up off the couch and started moving and we've had tons of laughs.

Walmart (there's that word again. LOL) has the Wii this week for $199 and they give you a $50 gift card. I got the Wii Fit Plus at Sam's for $88.88. It was $90 at Walmart. Several of my friends went and got them this week. Hurry while they are on sale.

I got as pedometer at Xs Cargo a couple of weeks ago ... about 3 bucks, I think.

Vein doc says that I need to move legs and feet around when I'm on computer.
