Wii games for exercise?

Yes, it's that time of year... when many people join gyms but I'm just looking for more options to exercise in my basement! A friend recommended "Just Dance" for the Wii. Seems to have mixed reviews on Amazon. Just wondering if you have used any Wii games for exercise? Is Wii Fit a good program? Any others?

I've used the EA Sports Active game a few times. It was a pretty good workout, and fun too.

I second EA Sports Active. I don't think the Wii Fit is very good for exercise though. Also, Wii boxing, DH and I have duked it out a few times, and both finished dripping in sweat. He can't beat me, which makes it even more fun.

Hey Fellow gamers , So everyone has seen promo's for downloading unlimited games for a so and so one time price. And of course, being the extreme gamers which we are we question it because of that small bad feeling . Well guys, I did the research and tested it for myself! I went through 5 different sites, and out of all of them, they all were legitament. We took all the game disks out of the cases and put them into a binder (it has sleeves/pages with slots for disks), which takes up MUCH less space than the cases. We keep the cases themselves in a box in the basement, just in case we need them later. I attempt to keep the controllers in a basket on the shelf under the TV, but they usually just end up on the floor. The guitars for Guitar Hero are in a tall basket in the corner. Fortunately all of this is in our basement playroom, so when it's a mess it doesn't bother me too much.

This is "Wii Fit Plus" (2009). The games are in the "Training Plus" section. There's also "Yoga" and other non-game choices. "Flying Chicken" isn't what it's called, but you have to 'flap' and 'fly' to floating platforms and then onto the deck of a ship. In one game you are a majorette, keeping step with the beat and 'catching' game pieces with the remote and nunchuk as they drop into rings. The more you score, the larger your marching band becomes. when you miss, band members disappear. The bike rides and runs really work your legs. My current 'challenge' is "The Bubble" -- you guide it chrough a waterway without 'popping' against the shoreline and floating objects. I've yet to reach the end in the time alloted. There are also disks for "Sports Resort" (2009) and "Wii Sports" (2007). DH likes the golf, basketball, and 100-pin bowling.

We just got a Wii and Wii Fit Plus last week. I love it!!! There are many different exercises/games and I like that it will track your progress.

Wii Fit Plus is great.

I also love Wii Sports boxing - it will give you a workout too.
I found some gloves that hold the remote at Big Lots and that made it even more fun.

This is what I'm waiting for now - it was just released at the end of Nov. and is sold out most everywhere.

Well, I ended up ordering Golds Gym Dance because it was only $20 and got mostly rave reviews on Amazon. I'd like to try Zumba, too. I wish the library had these so we could try them out before buying!
