Sounds like a fritata I made once,my family loved it!

This is also good with crumbled cooked sausage, mushrooms, onions and red, yellow or orange bell pepper. (I cook it all together before putting in the casserole.) Something I make just about every Sunday.

Breakfast Bake Sauce

6 eggs
2 C. milk
1 t. salt
1 t. pepper

Filling
*********
2 C Shredded Cheddar cheese
1/2 lb. bacon, cooked and broken into small pieces

Noodles

6 slices white bread
Prepare sauce. In a medium bowl, combine eggs, milk, salt, and pepper. Whisk until well blended. Set aside.
Spray an 11X7 baking dish with nonstick cooking spray. Layer three bread slices, slightly overlapping, into bottom of dish.
Sprinkle with 1/2 cheese and all the bacon. Place three remaining bread slices on top. Sprinkle with cheese. Pour sauce over the top of the lasagna. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate overnight. Remove from the refrigerator 30 minutes before baking.
Preheat oven to 375°. Remove plastic wrap, cover with foil and ake 40-45 minutes. Remove foil and bake an additional 10 minutes or until a tester inserted into the center comes out clean. Remove from the oven. Let rest 5-10 minutes before serving. Serves 6

I am certainly going to try this Wake-Up Casserole on Christmas morning. Do you think it will feed six people? I am also serving a fresh fruit salad and some home made cinnamon buns. Now I can't wait for Christmas a.m. Merry Christmas everyone!

Dex, I'm sure a 9x13 pan of this stuff would feed at least 6 people. When I made it I called it 'Christmas Morning Wife Saver'. LOL!

This is the Christmas Morning Wife Saver from the Best of Bridge cookbook.

CHRISTMAS MORNING WIFE SAVER

16 slices of white bread
slices of Canadian back bacon (enough to cover the pan)
grated sharp cheddar cheese (enough to cover the pan)
6 eggs
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp pepper
1 tsp dry mustard
1/4 c. minced onion
1/4 c. green pepper
2 tsp Worcestershire sauce
3 cups of whole milk
dash of Tabasco sauce
1 stick of butter
Special K or Corn Flakes

Butter a 9 X 13 baking dish. Cover the bottom with a layer of 8 slices of bread, then bacon, then grated cheese, and top with remaining 8 slices of bread, sandwich style.

Beat eggs, salt, and pepper together. Stir in mustard, onion, green pepper, Worcestershire sauce, milk, and Tabasco sauce. Pour the mixture over the "sandwiches", cover, and refrigerate overnight.

In the morning, melt the butter and pour over the top of the "sandwiches". Cover with the cereal.

Bake uncovered for 1 hour at 350 degrees. Let sit for 10 minutes before serving.

I am sorry- but I have to respond to this! We have now made this every single weekend since it was posted. We have used ham, bacon and sausage all with great success. My youngest son now keeps the grocery list current with all the ingredients. So easy and so good!

I remember eating this (the Wife Saver Recipe) at my aunt's at Christmas, when she was still alive. I loved it! But for the life of me, I don't remember the corn flakes on top, and being crunchy.

Do you put the corn flakes on top Trish?

Made this a number of times. Versatile for various occasions.

Sausage Squares

8 servings

1 cup Buttermilk Bisquick Mix
1/3 cup milk
4 tablespoons mayonnaise, divided
1 pound Italian sausage
1/2 cup chopped onion
1 egg
2 cups grated Cheddar cheese
2 (4 ounce) cans chopped green chiles

Stir Bisquick mix with milk and 2 tablespoons mayonnaise; Spread in greased 13 x 9-inch baking pan.

Saute sausage and onion; drain fat, spread over Bisquick mix.

Beat egg with remaining mayonnaise, cheese and chiles. Spread over meat. Bake at 375 degrees F for 25 minutes. Cut into 1-inch squares
