My heart goes out to you and your family, I know how scary this experience is.
When I went thru my cancer challenges I was unable to concentrate on any reading material, yet television allowed me "mindless" entertainment.
I called my lack of memory chemoneesia :) In retrospect, I just wonder if it wasn't in part a coping mechanism.
As you know, it takes a ton of energy just to wrap your mind around this experience, for your dad too.
I'm sending healing vibes and wishing you a strong day.

I am so sorry for all that you and your family is going through. My heart goes out to you. I feel the same way about my dad. I couldn't imagine what you are going through right now. We always think of how strong our dad's have always been. Of course they are the smartest people we know. They have always been our protectors. It is very hard to watch this person go through such a difficult time.
Will keep you and your dad in my thoughts and prayers.

This is always a good place to share thoughts and feelings. There are a lot of kind and sympathetic people here.

Sending you family special thoughts and prayers. I can totally understand what he is going through and hope that he has some brain recovery after the treatments are over. When I was going through treatments, I just didn't have the energy or ability to concentrate on anything. I had been an avid book reader and couldn't remember or sort out the characters in the books. I found TV programs hard to follow. It was a very frustrating time for me. Chemo Brain left me in a Chemo fog. It has now been documented medically and doctors are finally beginning to pay attention. Years later, I am still fighting this but it is getting better. Of course I am older now which doesn't help my memory issues.

Hugs and prayers for your dad and family. Would audio books help, maybe about some of the subjects he knows. If you have a Barnes and Noble they might have some, check with a library also. They have books on tapes. Also how about viedos about the subjects he likes, again check with the library.

Lots of good thoughts for your dad. Chemo affects everyone a little different but I hear it's better than it used to be. They can give him meds for his blood and other areas that might give him problems. Good wishes for all of you.

Thanks to all of you!! It must of worked! My Dad came home today and he's feeling pretty good! He had a mild reaction to chemo in the begining (low grade fever,rash) and his kidneys were showing signs of stress,so the doctor adjusted his treatment.Now he's doing good. My husband and I got a lesson last night on how to flush his picc line,its kinda scary I've never done anything like this before! I was scared when I had to check his blood sugar! But now its easy!!

Michelle, I am so sorry to hear about your Dad. Hope the chemo does its job, and that he feels much better and stronger in 2009. I'm sorry to hear about the mental decline, maybe that can be reversed. I am sending prayers!
