~Has Anyone here used Priceline.com?

We are considering flying to Las Vegas next week.

We drove clear across Utah four weekends in November.

Let's just say we're tired of the view.

I did some surfing tonight and stumbled across priceline.

For $400 we can get three nights at the Las Vegas Flamingo and airfare (roundtrip for two). This quote is based on open flight departure times. We don't care what time we leave Las Vegas to come home but we need to leave Tuesday later in the day.

Have you used Priceline?

Is it what it says it is?

If not, got better suggestions?

A commuter flight from Salt Lake to Vegas with a layover in St. George is $250 roundtrip per person. Can you say cost prohibitive?

I tried Priceline once - my travel agent could beat their price. She could beat every online thing I tried. And it is so much easier to just call her and she lines it all up.

Love the commercials though! :)

We have always got great deals by telling our travel agaent we wanted to be "included" in a group package. We never saw the people in the group, but the price there and the motel were great. Kathy

Hello Ginny CA We just got back from our spring vacation. We pricelined rooms for 8 nights Memphis(1), Baton Rouge(4), Boloxi (2), and Nashville (1) night. The Memphis was an Adams Mark hotel which was a super nice king size room for $38.00 that night. The Baton Rouge stay was at a Marriott Courtyard which was a nice double queen size room, but the matress was soft and I spent some time sleeping in a overstuffed chair, and we paid $60.00 per night but I think that was because of the national basketball finals were in New Orleans which is just down the road. Then Boloxi was in a Holiday Inn and the room was a little nicer than the Courtyard, and we paid $60.00 for that room as well. Nashville was at another Holiday Inn and the room was a King size and very nice, for $58.00. I ask at Nashville what the regular rate would have been and they stated $149.00 so I was a happy man. As I stated in a previous post to this topic the big deal is once your bid is accepted you are obligated for your reservations. I checked our email draft folder and we sent out 31 bids for those rooms so you will spend some time getting your reservations, but I feel like it was well worth the effort to save a bunch of money. I've used priceline many times in the past. I used it instead of travel agents as there aren't any around here. I thought the prices were great: round trip for two from Wichita Falls to Dallas to Orlando for under $500. Of course, that was a while back. I'm sure they are higher now. Still, they beat other on-line prices. I also never had a lick of trouble with anything. I've rented cars through them too.

I don't use it but I have a friend who uses it religiously for both airfare and hotel rooms, even cruises, with her husband. Never heard one complaint from her about it, only bragging about the great deals. I would say "go for it".

Priceline does not always have the deals that it use to. Many companys are saving the deals for their own websites. My sister is a travel agents so she advises me to which sites to look under for my trips. She cannot book for me since her company only books large corporate flights. Last year when DH and I went to Peurto Rico i really did my research. I bought everything online through Marriot and Uniteds websites. I found the best deals there. You can also call a public travel agent. Sometimes they have info that others dont.

We went ahead and booked with priceline and I"m pleased with the prices. If I'd had a little more time to book the trip I'd have used a travel agent. As it was hubby just announced yesterday we could go...NEXT week!

We're staying two. nights at the Flamingo on the strip.
I like that. There were cheaper packages at hotels further away. The Flamingo is close to the trade shows. I MAY add another night on the backside of the trip, simply because I can't see going all that way for two nights and only one night at the rodeo.

Thanks for the help guys.
Next year I'll just go ahead and make the arrangements.
This waiting until the last minute drives me crazy!
