Oh gosh no and I hope I don't. Have had stuff happen here too, but it has been reasonably quiet. The other day I heard a pushing on the door and thought it was the dog so I got up to let her in and she wasn't there.
I heard a noise that sounded like the squeak of an old windmill, but later I laughed when I realized it was a big canvas painting of Santa on a wire. Hubby bumped the painting and the wire squeaked over the nail and I was relieved to hear what it was. It really sounds like an old windmill though. Good luck with George!

We had spirits at our previous house but not in this one and we almost always noticed an increase in activity during the holidays. I was told it happens because the emotions run higher at that time and the spirits are attracted to that. Also, if it is a spirit tied to a particular house they come because of the increased activity, moving furniture, etc.

Here in this house I have felt the presence of my cat, Timmy, and I have heard him. I think our boys (cats) have as well.

I haven't felt an increase, but I do sense that people in general are more worried these days. Financial stresses are cauing an uptick in human misery and perhaps that's caused an increase in paranormal activity? I don't know.

I do know that while the government says everything is getting better, people seem to "sense" that things are still out of kilter and finances are still in a mess.

Halloween is celebrated at Halloween because, supposedly, that's when the "veil" between this world & the "other" one is thinnest.

I've wondered if it has to do with shorter days & longer nights, but I do think it happens & it's as natural as the changes of the seasons.

If there's more "activity" this year, maybe something like El Nino is causing it;
the seasons still follow each other...but there may be wild variations.

I kind of envy people who live with the spirits;
it's as much as I can do to watch for the turning of the traffic lights-a very "this world" thing!

We don't get an increase during the holidays that I have noticed. However, when something changes...like if we paint a room. Or take down some cupboards. Anything that changes something in the house, we "hear" from John more frequently. He opens doors, turns lights and fans on and off and rambles up and down the hallway, among other things. I like having him around. My son? Not so much.

Yes! I don't mind...and attribute much of it to the frigid winter weather...the need for warmth...but my poor cat is rather unnerved by the increase in "our" population.

If I weren't a "believer"...she [my cat] would scare the living daylights out of me. She'll be laying next to me on the couch...contentedly purring away...when...suddenly she snaps to attention...head up...eyes wide...as she stares in the direction from whence my ethereal companion has come. This was a rare occasion during the milder weather...but now that winter is upon us...it's a nightly occurrence. She must receive some assurance from my visitor that no harm is meant because she eventually returns to her dreams...not moving an inch from my side. ;-)

I'm skeered!

We never noticed anything in our other house. "George" showed up here soon after we moved in. We didn't notice him much until winter. We put a lock on the door to our fruit celler in the basement and told the kids it had garden chemicals in there, and that was why we kept it locked. Instead, that's where we stored their Christmas presents. We had a dog at the time. While in the basement, you could hear the floor creek like some one was walking up and down the hallway. I noticed it some when the kids were in school while I was in the basement sewing, but didn't think much of it. Until DH & I were in the basement wrapping gifts. Smokie, our dog, was down there with us. He went where we went. The kids were sleeping. We had checked on them before we went down stairs. It got to the point where we would hear it, he would look up, then look at us, like, "It's ok, I know he's there. He's watching over the kids." Finally DH went upstairs to make sure no one was in the house! DD saw him once. NOw it's just shadows or a "knowing" that he's around. DD went to a reading one time at DSIL's. Supposedly, "George" is "Richard", and a past family member. The only Richards in the family is my dad, living, and DH's uncle, who absolutly does not resemble the "person" DD saw. We called him George until she went to the reading, then called him Richard until my dad was in ICU with his heart. The elevator was right outside the waiting room door. It would open, no one would be there, then close and go to another floor. I would automatically tell "Richard" to cut it out. Mom said we had to go back to calling him "George" again. I politely told him why we were changing his name again, and he seemed to have no problem with it. When DD went away to college, he stayed here, but didn't visit as much. Now, we are getting a lot of activity, and I don't think it is just him and our rabbit Sunflower.

DD is also seeing a lot of activity at her house. One was a big ball of bright white light that stopped in front of her, then went zinging across the room and hid in a cabinet. No one else seemed to even know it was there. They have 3 cats in the house, but I can't remember if she said wether they noticed it. There have been other things she's noticed there, also.

We really aren't bothered by them, just curious.

With all the stuff going on in the area lately, if George is as protective now as he's always been, I'm happy to have him here!

I've told this before, can't remember if it was here, though;

There's a historic Victorian home in our area, the Pratt home, 2 stories, turrets, porches, quilting whatsis on the upstairs porch, the whole doo-dah.

One of the previous owners told me Mrs Pratt is still there:

The rocking chair in an upstairs room would rock when there wasn't any wind, even when the windows were closed, & the owners would say Mrs Pratt was keeping an eye on things.

One night the parents were out of town, & the girls invited over a bunch of friends;
one thing led to another, & a bunch of boys came over.

Next day, parents came home to a couple of very subdued girls;

after some coaxing, the parents got the story.

Every time a boy & girl started upstairs, the door to the stairwell would slam shut;
after about the third time, they heard the rocking chair...

the windows were all closed.

Girls pushed boys out the door & went to bed.

A hunnert years down the road, Mrs Pratt was still looking after foolish girls.
