I do have people that have made a difference in my life.

When I was a young adult I was involved in a political campaign and was extremely shy. I mean really shy. I was paired up with a man to go door to door canvassing. I thought there was no way I could do this without messing up or not being able to get my words out. This man, who at the time was a principal at a Catholic school gave me a talk that changed my life. I can't really remember now what he said to me but I was never shy after that. I found my voice, I found that a whole new world opened up for me and things weren't as scarey as they had seemed for so many years. I still may turn red now and then but I am nothing, no comparison to the shy violet, scared to death, no self-confidene girl that I was then.

I thanked him a few years later and again just recently but he couldn't remember who I was. LOL His wife did though and she said he had really appreciated it at the time that he had so much impact on my life.

My neighours Ken and Freda and Freda's sister have also had a huge impact on my life. I can honestly say that the people on the KT and a few on the Cooking Forum have made an impact on my life - some people I have never met in person. There are a lot of wonderful people in this world!

I am glad you found someone that has made an impact on your life.

Yes I have someone like that I know. He is not a constant in my life but has always been there when I needed him or someone like him the most. He keeps it simple and taught me right is right. He is the only person in my entire life I have ever met that has NEVER lied to me. He doesn't tell me what I want to hear but has always told me what I need to know. He is the toughest yet kindest person I know. I will always love him.

An English teacher in high school that was very demanding, but from whom I learned the most. During my Junior year, all of the girls in my class hated her and we sometimes would go home crying. By senior year, we loved her.

I have the good fortune of having a number of fantastic friends, so they have made a difference also.

I also had a wonderful boss who helped me and taught me in many ways.

I also am extremely thankful for the hospice nurses that helped my mother and sister. By helping our loved ones, they helped the entire family.

I also have/had many relatives that had a tremendous impact on my life.

I am very lucky to have the wonderful friends that I have. Any one of them could be a mantor.

My most Favorite Mantor passed away 6 years ago and I still miss her.

I am very blessed.

My high school guidance councelor, Mr. Gourlay. In our junior year, he called each student individually to his office to ask about their future plans. When it was my turn, I shyly stammered "I think I'll be a secretary like my mother." (No offense to secretaries everywhere). My guidance counselor, Mr. Gourlay, practically yelled at me "You're college material." That man inspired me to apply to college. It changed my whole life. Because I applied to college, I lived four years in a college dorm, made many new friends, travelled to Europe twice, had a 31-year career with the federal government, met my husband and our two daughters were born. Thank you, Mr. Gourlay!

My daughter....she has the most kind and selfless wishes. She has made me a better person.

My mother had the most influence on my life. My sisters and I all use her as our role model. She died when we were young, but at 12 I had learned enough from her to guide me through difficult times and through happy times. She is my role model of being a mother too. The first day I stood in front of my very own class as a teacher, I was overwhelmed with the realization of how these children were formed by the lessons, standards, and expectations their parents had instilled in them. Some were considerably less fortunate than others because of the script their parents helped put in their heads that molds them. I realized how very, very fortunate I had been to have the parents I had, even for just a few too short years.
