We went to the animal shelter in Tombstone this afternoon. They have advertised that they were over run with kittens. We were looking to adopt one for a play mate for Smokey but ended up with 2 brothers who are between 6 and 7 weeks old. The shelter had a sale...buy one for $25 and get as many as you wanted free after that. This includes spay and neuter plus all shots. Can't beat that deal. They were born at the shelter and have not known anything but the cage they were born in. Boy were they thrilled to have so much room to explore here at home.

The dark one I have named Bandit and he is quite the character. He is very fiesty and is into everything. He also has double paws which you don't see too often. The little gray one doesn't have a name yet. Mike said he wanted to name him GT but I said no. His thinking is that we have Smokey and the Bandit and in the movie they drove a Firebird GT. I think he needs a real name like Dusty or something. We will see.

Smokey is really bent out of shape with these additions. He hisses and has tried to bite them once. I don't allow him to be alone with them. I follow him around and gently tell him "no" and he backs off. He will get used to them and they will all be best of buddies I am sure.

Oh...aren't they just adorable....They look like they are going to be soft and fluffy cats...

I really didn't want our cat to adopt us...but now I just love her....

Oliver the cat is around and doing well. I completely lied to my grandparents and said I knew nothing about him... I went so far as to say that he probably came from the neighboring farm b/c they have so many! I'm probably going to hell, but that was already coming! He's VERY skiddish. I can't get w/in 20 or 30 feet of him. But he's around everytime I'm down there and I've spotten him eating the cat food that grandma puts out! I almost slipped and told them that he was neutered, but I caught myself! They don't even know if it's male or female b/c they can't get very close to him. Grandpa named him "Bobby" b/c of his bobtail. And I have to just go on about Nora. I've never had a better cat. She doesn't get on the counters, she uses the litter box, she's incredible w/ the dog and Oliver. Infact, Lucy and Nora were both sharing the same dog bed last night! She's awesome. Kudos to the SPCA for pointing me in the right direction!

Hi, I did not read all of the posts, so I might say something that has already been said. I think the one on the bottom right is some form of Argyroderma. The one on the top left, I believe is some plant from the mimcry family, but I don't remember the name for it (the Lowes here had almost all of those plants you have with the ID's attached... I got myself some "baby toes" (left side, middle, between the mimcry plant and the split rocks which are on the bottom left... Fenestraria is their family I believe) and some split rocks. Got some other succulents, but that is all I have that are simliar to yours... good luck with them, they all look BEAUTIFUL! I am going to repot some of mine today! Elizabeth

Marci, that's a gorgeous summer spot! Sans sheath...this one doesn't have a sheath either and it's not a unifoliate or a bifoliate...it's a TRIfoliate. Too bad the blooms don't last too long, but it's beauty and fragrance does make it worth while! Bolero, my sister's orchid was stolen when she put it on her porch for some fresh air. She was so heart-broken because it was her first orchid. She even posted "lost" posters of it around her neighborhood. Jane, I went the first day and the show area was nearly empty however the vendor arcade was PACKED! I thought about going back to grab some deals on the last day but then I realized I have no more space left under my lights...

As you know Stacy I think Boomer is a complete and utter lovebug! He looks so much like my little girl Miss did as a pup. He is a lucky boy to have your family and heck a bonus of a brother and sister too! He just melts my heart!

Oh Nita, they are just precious. Just look at those cute little faces, then there are those little pink pads on bandit's foot. Too Cute!!!!! I would love to have a cat own me, but I don't dare with the huge pets I already have.

Oh, Nita! They are so adorable, look at those cute widdle faces! I think the gray one looks like a Tucker. And I'm thinking you're brilliant to have gotten two of them, that'll make it easier on you and Smokey, too. Your heart is going to melt when you find your baby boys all curled up together sound asleep or grooming each other. I know I do and my boys are going on 5 years old!

Polydactl's are very cool! I love those extra toes. Congrats on your new boys! Um... do you have a tree up? lololololololol

What beautiful little kittens! You are so sweet to take two, and to get them from the shelter. I go to the shelter a couple of times a week, and it is true...they are all over run with kittens.

Well the boys have just finished playing (I am worn out) so I put them for a nap. I don't think they want to sleep as they are crying and looking to get out. When we remodeled we took out the bath tub and converted it into a shower with glass doors. This is where I fixed them a nice place to rest. Kitty bed, food, kitty box and some toys. This also gives Smokey some alone time.

Smokey is pretty much staying back and watching. His eyes are black so I know to keep an eye on him. He is big (12+ pounds) so he plays kind of rough. He has been sniffing them and following them around. Bandit runs right up to him and Smokey doesn't mind. The little gray one is a little afraid of Smokey.

Soon they will all be the best of friends and Smokey will thank me for bringing them home. I have been giving Smokey some treats so he knows he is still special. Have also been loving on him, when he allows it.

We have a tree up but it is a 3' half tree that hangs on the wall so it is safe. LOL

Our life will never be the same. LOL But who likes a boring, quiet home?

Nita, what are the reasons you felt you wanted a playmate for Smokey?

We have a lone cat, Giovanni, and he's adorable, but between 2 boys and one dh, that poor cat gets too much attention, and I've tried to convince dh we need a 2nd cat, just to take some heat off of Giovanni! In our cat's favor, I've declared the mat by the kitchen sink, and his cat stand, as off limits zones for everyone, so at least when Giovanni retreats there, he can still be with us but not have to endure the near constant hugs and pettings (he dreads summer holidays, I'm sure!).

P.S. Adorable kittens.!

I couldn't have left them at the shelter either, Nita. What joy they will bring to the family and look at those sweet faces, noses, ears, and toes, toes, etc.! :)

Kioni, we don't have small kids at our house and it is pretty quiet. Smokey gets lots and lots of attention believe me but he doesn't get alot of exercise. He is 2 1/2 and weighs about 12 pounds so is pretty hefty. He sleeps alot for his age and seemed bored so I thought a playmate was in order. Besides it will liven up our house too!!

He is doing great with them this morning. I just have to keep reminding him to be easy and play nice. You can see in his eyes that he just wants to get in there and have a blast but these guys are not quite 2 pounds yet. I can just imagine what it will be like around here in a month or two.

Hahaha, Bandit looks like he is a character and I bet he will fun to watch to see what he discovers and gets into. Little gray kitty is so sweet too.

Widdle kitties are so much fun and will give you hours of entertainment. Lucky you.

Great idea about giving them the space in the shower.

I hope Smokey gets attached to them. When my sister's cat came to visit (she's till here 4 years later!) my little Lucy who is much younger than Chloe never took to her. Lucy is always attacking Chloe when poor Chloe least expects it. When Lucy in on my lap or bed and Chloe wants up Lucy will jump off. They don't sleep together either and Chloe really wants to cuddle with Lucy but Lucy won't let her. They do play once in a while but it is mostly chasing each other through the house. LOL

We used to have stray cats come around, but not since we got Cujo! I think Cujo wants to be the only cat around and we will probably keep it that way!*S*

They are adorable!!! I wish our pound would have deals like that. Ours charge $75 dollars a pop, whether it is a cat or dog. We never have discounts at ours. I want to adopt 2 kitties but just haven't had the extra $$$ to spend right now. We just had to have our 16 year old kitty put down, just about broke my heart!!! Our other kittie is 15 and I swear he is going through a second kittenhood, he is into everything! We just came home to broken balls all over the wood floor from him swatting them off of the tree...the brat!!!
So I guess my Max does need a couple buddies to snuggle and play with.
You surely got you a cute pair of kittens!!!

They are sweet and it's nice you took both as they will adjust better w/ their buddy. I brought a kitten in the house over a year ago and nothing at all happened and I had six other cats. He was confident and not afraid and no one bothered him. He's now the second biggest in the house and they still ignore him altho he wants to play. Good luck with the little cuties.
