Merry Christmas, KT friends

I wish all of you a very Merry Christmas. Ken & I are going to DD's home in Houston tomorrow, then DS & family who live in Katy come out on Christmas Eve for dinner and gift exchanging (they spend Christmas Day with DIL's family.)

Christmas day we will have DD's MIL who lost her husband on Thanksgiving day with us and the grands. We'll be coming home on Monday since both of us have not been feeling great the last couple of weeks. I think next year everyone should start coming to Grandma & Grandpa's house....it's time to make it easier on us.

Merry Christmas everyone. We will go to church on Christmas morning and then later in the day have dinner at our daughter's and son in law. We are hoping everyone can be together. Looks like no snow for us this year. Hope everyone enjoys their day with family.

And, a Merry one from near San Francisco. This is the first year in a very long time that I've had all my children in the same house for Xmas, plus most of their kids. So, it's been hectic and much fun. I'd forgotten how much work it was cooking for a large gathering but it will be one to remember. Sending love and best wishes. Linda

Late best wishes to all of you from me, too. We all got home to my brother's and my sister's, who since her husband's death early this year is now living in our old homeplace across the road from him, before a 3" wet snow fell overnight. We woke to a beautiful white Christmas with snow covering the fields and lying on the cedars and a redheaded woodpecker busy on a tree outside the kitchen window. We had 24 for a big country breakfast and 29 for a big early afternoon dinner. Although the roads were clear, huge snowflakes kept falling and frightened a few people away. Otherwise, we would have had eight to ten more. We came home last night and after church today had a bowl of soup at Panera for lunch. Well, and then some Christmas-present candy later in the afternoon. Yesterday, I thought I'd never eat again. I'll be back to walking at the mall and a low carb diet tomorrow and am giving serious consideration to joining Curves. I wore a new sweater this morning, and some of the bulges showing through it were definitely not curves.

Catching up on the calamondin notes. Looks like you pretty much have your question answered but I'll add my two-cents worth. I agree, you can pretty much leave the fruit on your calamondin until it falls off. Depending on where different folks have their trees, ambient temperatures, humidity, and possible hard freezes, you may need to pick your fruit before it falls off. My tree is outside in a very humid climate and by the time it falls off it's usually soured a little. Also, temps in the mid to upper 20s will freeze the fruit and make mush out of it so you also should pick fruit with any significant orange on it prior to a hard freeze. Temps in the 29-32 range will probably be ok as long as the duration is short...a few hours during the night. It may be different for potted trees but I think the fruit is just as good for juicing and making into "lemonade, pies, jelly, etc. at any time beginning from the first sign of an orange tint to the peel. The juice and meat inside will be a very nice orange color at the first shade of orange tint to the peel. The fruit will get larger through the ripening period and the acidity/sourness does seem to abate the longer you leave the fruit on the tree (but it will still make you pucker) so there are some reasons to let the fruit ripen a while.

Gee Eva, I don't envy y'all that Houston traffic!! Yep!! Next year is your year!! Mine are coming from Midlothian Sunday after their church is over and we'll all be down at Jennifer's. Hope everyone has a good holiday. To be perfectly honest, I'll be glad when it's over!! I like my lazy life style. LOL
