What is your favorite item of clothing?

I have found the best nighties in the world. I have bought 4 sleeveless and 3 with elbow-length sleeves. They are DKNY and are the softest, floppy modal. They are long enough to wear by themselves and - my favorite part - they have pockets!

My favorite has to be my old flannel shirts I wear In winter. Next would be sweatshirts and pants! I don't get fancy very often.

Favorite item is the full length mink coat first DH gave me for Christmas, about 30 years ago.

But since you mentioned nighties...for years, I have been addicted to the Victoria Secret Signature nightshirts. They're so comfortable, come to just the knee, with long sleeves for winter.

I love scarves for dressing up an outfit. I wore them a lot in Europe as they are an extra layer...over the shoulders for the cathedral, over the head for a drizzle, around the neck if it's chilly, around the purse if it's hot... Below is a nice video for ideas about how to tie a scarf. However, I too am in the camp of no more turtlenecks...when I have a hot flash, it feels like strangulation. Scarves I can take off, but turtlenecks, I'm stuck. Such a shame as I have a zillion of them...I lived in them all winter when I was working...they look so great under a jacket, with or without a scarf, necklace or lapel pin... I have a couple of white shirts, but I have trouble finding them opaque enough, I never have them ironed so when I'm rushing to get dressed, I by pass them for something that doesn't need ironing, and with my coloring, the white is a washout on me so I have to add color besides. I also have to worry about length as I'm short...tunic shapes just cut me off. Then there's the boobage issue...button fronts can gape on me which also isn't fun. (I remember giving a talk one time, and the fellow in the front row was staring at my belly. I realized my shirt had gaped and he was seeing skin. At least it wasn't in the boob arena. Last time I did that! After that it was pullovers, button in the back, long scarves in front or camis underneath!) So for me, it's not a go to item, though I can see how it could be for someone else. Also, these days, I'm so into comfort that knits are by far my favorites...they move and stretch with me. When I wear wovens without any lycra in them, I feel like I'm fighting my clothes. I didn't try them, but was tempted....I was in walmart and see that Lee is making a super comfortable jean now out of very stretchy, very soft denim with almost a flannel like feel...a real cross between a legging and a jean...but they also had them boot cut. I guess Godiva Chocolates are my favorite candy for the occasional chocolate fix. Sees Candy has gone way downhill too except for a few classic items. Their stores are full of candy bar type stuff and they got rid of Sugar Sticks!!!. Now, they still make them because they are still put in the boxes for holidays. But you can't buy them alone anymore. You have to buy a box of stuff you don't want to get 2 or 3 of them. I like Russell Stover candy at the drugstore. All my old favorites have been reformulated or changed. UNO bars are no longer much different from a Three Muskateer. Annabel took the middle layer of chocolate out the Rocky Road bar. Hershey's has recently change their chocolate Kiss formula also. Probably think we won't notice by introducing all the silly different varieties but people did. Even Lifesavers messed up their flavors. It will be just like what happened to hamburgers *sigh*. A whole generation of kids grew up on McD's so they think In and Out or Sonic are something special. LOL I still like Swedish Fish. But only the original red ones. The multi-colored ones are just wrong.

I really like their glassware. There was a time when I became fixated on the stunning antique containers with the single blooms that seem to be in all the shelter magazines. Instead, I went with my own version with glassware from Ikea. It turned out to be a great choice for me because they can be scattered around the house without worrying about coordinating.

A couple more.... Original Art Nouveau tazza... love the mauve glass - which happens to match my birthstone (amethyst)! The stand is a bit bent out of shape, which just adds to its character, imho ;) As an aside, in the background is a vintage lamp base given to us as a gift (!!!) by a lovely lady we met when purchasing the peacock mirror from her. She appreciated our love of the style and offered us the lamp base with a Tiffany style glass shade that had suffered some damage but which she correctly identified we'd appreciate, damage notwithstanding :) The shade is awaiting repair. The pastel portrait below we bought at an antique fair here in the UK. The sitter and artist are unfortunately unknown...but we love her and like to imagine her story.....

Monica, I have some of those nighties too! I wear them over my sleeveless nighties if it is too cold, but those are definitely my other fave.

That's funny, I wore one of DH's old flannel shirts around the house until it fell apart. Loved that soft, comfy shirt.

I'd say my favorite item of clothing is a very soft rose-colored cardigan that I wear around the house now.

My fave is 100% cotton sweat pants and shirt with a cardigan with pockets. Just wish they fit again.OH Purple too.

This time of year my favorite everything is fleece!

My favorite fleece garmet is an dark green ankle-lenght robe/gown with 3/4 length sleeves, a zip front, stand up collar (to keep the back of my neck warm) and big roomy pockets.

On cold evenings I pair it with thermal pants, warm socks, and sometimes thin gloves, if I'm on the computer.

Ahhhh...warm and comfy and alluring. Well, two out of three aren't bad! LOL

I shudder when I think of what I use to prance around in, winter and summer. As my Grandmother would have said, it's a wonder I didn't catch my death!

I'm so much more comfortable now that I'm sensible! LOL

I'm posting a photo of a similar robe. I got mine ar Penney's for less than $20 at an end-of-season sale.

My favorite article of clothing is my goose down vest....

As far as nighties go, I would post a pic of mine but modesty won't allow it since the only nightie I wear is the one I was born with.....LOL

My ScotteVest windbreaker. It has enough pockets to pack for a weekend trip. LOL

It's a size big so even with all the inner pockets in use I can layer it over another jacket, or a down vest or even a combo of layers.

It packs down into a little pouch.

I love packable outerwear. I have several from anoraks to down vests and even a lightweight down jacket.

That would be an L.L. Bean corduroy big shirt. Can't decide on which of the 6 of these that are in my closet would be my most favorite. The colors are all so pretty.

I have 2 pair of jeans from Maurices. They are traditionally a young and trendy kind of store, but my hairdresser suggested I try their jeans. I LOVE them. They were not real expensive ($30?), but fit me perfectly and dont look like "mom-jeans". I can wear with nice boot or heel equally as a casual flat shoe.

Anything fleece!

My son who is on the autism spectrum lives in soft clothes. I recently bought him several sueded long sleeve shirts at JC Penney when they had a sale because I knew he'd favor them.

Flannel shirt, I guess (though I'm not exactly an afficionado of the season[s] in which I need it).

Temp has been 56 - 60 or so in house in recent evenings ... and it's too early to turn on the furnace, yet.

Five layers on the torso does the job ... and a washcloth with a safety pin to make a loop to go over my wrist so the fingers on the mouse don't freeze ('tother hand sits under the butt, on occasion as required).

T shirts.........I wear them for every day and for most of my shopping. I have them in every color imaginable and I have gardening T's......around the house T's and going shopping T's. This is Texas and we don't dress up much so a T is appropriate most any place. I do have 3 flannel shirts too that I wear over my T's in winter. They are from the men's dept at JC Penney's.

I love being older and retired. I make my own clothes and when I am at home by myself I wear my housedresses that I make for myself..and in the winter they are made out of nice heavy flannel. So soft, and cozy. I am such a plain Jane. LOL Now If I could just learn how to knit some long stockings to warm my feet I would really be homemade Jane!
