Name your top three favorite albums/CDs

I know that we love so many different songs and types of music, but if you were going to a deserted island and could bring any CDs (and the CD player!!!), which three would you choose?

And mixed tapes/CDs DON'T COUNT!!!!! :-)

I have way too many to choose.

I like 70's stuff. Not so much disco stuff, but the bee gees are good once in a while.

My tastes usually go to John Denver, Dan Fogleburg, Carpenters, Beatles, James Taylor, Carly Simon, Carole King, Don McLean. Gordon Lightfoot,(just saw him on Friday) Stuff you can sing to.

I also like some cross over country. Lady Antebellum, Garth Brooks, some of his. Too many others to name them all

Axel, I generally agree that nowadays no one goes to the expense of patenting and releasing a variety unless they're quite certain that they can consistantly obtain high quality in a wide range of climates, but that doesn't mean that they don't vary greatly in quality season to season. Goldrush was released as a commercial variety and it might just still make it (even if it's too late for royalties). The season before last my Braeberns were exquisite while this year they were completely worthless- really annoying because I had a great crop. The person here complaining about the quality of Goldrush this year doesn't seem to realize that we barely had a summer in NY last season, and in Z5 there just wasn't enough heat to properly ripen Goldrush. Of course I know I'm not telling you anything you don't already know.

Rhododendron canescens - for the fragrance and overall good form. Rhododendron prunifolium - for the striking late blooms (mine is blooming now). Rhododendron maximum - for the foliage (I like the blooms too).

Joann: Thank you for the design and all of the example pics. You and your DH are really very talented. Did either or you ever do this work professionally or is it a hobby? Thank you for highlighting all of the architectural details. That is exactly what I need to see. DH and I were debating about this glass as the side panels are quite narrow so your pics are very helpful to visualize the whole effect. I should mention here that this is not a fully custom shop. We basically get to pick different door/cabinet styles, wood species/stain/hardware, height/width, drawers and component configuration so I may not be able to order some of the lovely design details you incorporated, though I will bring in the pics and inquire about it on Sat. I did notice the bottom doors on the console are not full overly which it looks like you designed for the sides. I'm going to guess my top option will not be full overlay so we'll see. Also, my hinges are not the euro style on bottom and stick out the sides. Wouldn't they need to match? As the TV is 50" wide, I was thinking of having the center opening be 51". Then in the vertical direction with the TV height at 31" I was thinking we should add a bit of beathing room--say about 3" extra on top so the TV box would then be 51"W x 34"H. I think I'll check the TV specs to see any ventillation requirements, though I know DH wants some holes in the back for cables, etc. I notice hoosiergirl's TV is very tightly set into the built-in. I'll let you know what they come up with when we go in over the weekend.

OMG this is like being asked which is your favorite child! How do you answer? My answer is, I can't answer. At least not off the top of my head. But, I CAN say off the top of my head that Lyda Rose might be in the group. But there is a reason. I have mostly shade in my yard, and after years of trying (sorry, David Austin, I really did try) I have come to the conclusion that I can't really, truly grow a healthy, prolific rose. Except Lyda Rose. She is healthy, vigorous, prolific, fragrant, hardy, and beautiful, and all in part shade. If I had more full sun to grow roses, she might not make the top three favorite. But in a practical, what-favorite-rose-can-grow-in-my-yard list, she is at the top. Loving the pictures here, even if they are a bit of a dagger to my shaded-yard heart! Many of the roses mentioned are ones that I tried to grow so I love seeing the photos of them! :) Dee

Wow....I am really surprised by how many of you could actually pick just 3!!! I couldn't....but of the 3 there would have to be some John Denver....and other country/folk/soft rock of the 70's.

I guess my three favorite CDs are Patsy Cline's & Hank Williams' Greatest Hits, & Your Hit Parade-1941 (Ellington, Krupa, the Dorseys, etc.) I have almost a complete collection of years put out by Time-Life over a decade ago, but 1941 is my favorite.
