I'm glad our low grade Pedigree and Meow Mix didn't make the list. But I see Eukanuba, (however you spell it) made it. Sad considering that stuff is outrageously priced.

This list includes recalls from March 2007. Most of those recalls were during the huge recall in 2007 from melamine contaminated products.

Yeah, some are old. My dog's canned food is on there but it's from an old recall. My dog was on a different food at that time.

I think that it was a jerky treat that prompted the recall. I wish that they had the dates published on the first page with the name, but it is the FDA's list and they don't have it on there.

Kathleen, ours is not on there either, fingers crossed! We feed Royal Canin.

Just so everyone understands...most of these listed products were recalled in 2007 when all those dogs and cats died from melamine contaminated food.

They are not necessarily current recalls, so there's no need to assume all these products are bad today.

You need to click on the specific product name to see the date of that specific recall. All of the ones I checked were batches recalled in 2007.

Lynn, Royal Canin was part of the 2007 recall - don't know why it isn't listed on the front page. But again, this was recalled in 2007 with expiration dates of June 6, 2007.

"Melamine Pet Food Recall of 2007
On March 15, 2007, FDA learned that certain pet foods were sickening and killing cats and dogs. FDA found contaminants in vegetable proteins imported into the United States from China and used as ingredients in pet food.

A portion of the tainted pet food was used to produce farm animal feed and fish feed. FDA and the U.S. Department of Agriculture discovered that some animals that ate the tainted feed had been processed into human food. Government scientists have determined that there is very low risk to human health from consuming food from animals that ate tainted feed. All tainted pet food, animal and fish feed, and vegetable proteins continue to be recalled and destroyed.

As a result of FDA and USDA's comprehensive investigation, on February 6, 2008, FDA announced that two Chinese nationals and the businesses they operate, along with a U.S. company and its president and chief executive officer, were indicted by a federal grand jury for their roles in a scheme to import products purported to be wheat gluten into the United States that were contaminated with melamine."

I don't want anyone to unnecessarily panic over this because most of it doesn't apply to today. This is outdated information. Here were the Royal Canin recall details:

Actually, I've seen a couple of warnings regarding dog chicken jerky treats made in China lately. Dogs are getting sick, but can recover if caught in time.
