Please remember I have my first computer now, using Windows 7. How do I get web addresses to be working web addresses. I can left click on them and copy them, but that don't make them so they can be clicked on and take friends to a web place. Help! l.marie

When I left click and copy and insert in the "optional Link URL" box, then name it....it shows up when you preview the post. When I start a thread the box doesn't show up until I click on preview.

I left click on the address.
Right click to COPY it,
then go to a email and PASTE it in. It will be clickable.

Go back and check your "sent" file and see if it is working.
Hope that helps

How do you make a link to another site in your post?

Hi Xuan! Here is an example of how to make a link to another site: Let's say I want everyone to see the beautiful Agastache 'Apache Sunset' that I was just gazing at on the Bluestone website. I just type my message as usual and right beneath the space where I'm typing my message it says "Optional Link URL" that's where I'm going to paste the http:// address that I copied when I was at the Bluestone site. After pasting the address, I just type in whatever I want to use for the name of the link. Then when I preview my message I see the link underlined. Hope this was the information you needed! It's been a long night or rather 'morning' and I've been thinking--a lot! And, I realize that many of us (me included) have been linking to the 'Library' by specific page, as in we look up the hosta we want to talk about or display and link it, with the link taking us to a specific alphabetical listing, the 'usual way' which is below our message! I'm thinking that even that may be prohibited and that Bob really wants us to ONLY link to the home-page as in this way: The Hosta Library rather than the way we've been doing it below! Whaaaa! It was SO MUCH FUN to be able to read along in our messages and then be able to 'click' and see the specific hosta being discussed so quickly BUT, if that is not what is desired by Bob, so be it and well it should be respected to be his wishes!! Sniff! If you read this, Bob, is there ANY way, we can have a special 'dispensation',, to be able to quickly get to one of your hostas more directly? Thought I'd ask--JUST IN CASE--it could happen!!! :o/ Here's how I've done it in the past, (maybe wrongly) besides the more recent 'in-message-click': Here is a link that might be useful: It's breakfast time--'H. Bacon and Eggs'

wow this was flashback moment LOL till I realized it was from last June. unfortunately that link I provided as the linker site no longer is there, I don't know why or what happened but now it is some advertisement portal. I do like the firefox add-on mentioned, it is absolutely one of my all time fave add-ons and gets used many times a day there are a few other firefox add-ons that can help do links. One is Colt CoLT 2.4.3 what I like about Colt is that if you are on forums that require BB code it also gives the option to copy the link as BB code as well as HTML. With Copy as Html Link add-on you can go to a webpage and hilight any single word or group of words on the page then right click on them and from the menu select copy as html link and when you paste it in your reply just the words you selected will show up as the clickable link, so if you go to a page about socks for example and you just find the word socks on the page, hilight the word, right click, choose the copy as html option, and paste it all you see is socks which is blue and clickable. Very cool add-on.

question about Publisher & how to make site show in search engine
Q

The name at the top comes from the TITLE value. I don't use publisher so can't help further, but look in the help for how to set the title. As for search engines, that takes time. None of them will find you right away. Google takes several months. They all look at the text in your site. Description and title are also considered and that is what is shown on the listing for some of them. Key words have been so badly abused that they are largely ignored. The "x" means that either the pictures didn't upload or they are in a different directory than you expect them to be.

joann: I tried it four times and it wouldn't be click-able in my sent box.

Thank you both for the help though. l.marie

Ok, when you type the address in the email, look at the drop down menu or up top and look for a "Link" symbol.
You will click that and another dropdown will tell you to type in the HTTP address, that should make it clickable or a image clickable.
Keep trying.
Another though, is it a working address? Be sure its typed in correctly.

the very easiest method is if you use firefox get the add on called Copy as HTML link, once you have that great little add on installed you can simply hilight any word or phrase on any page and then right click on that and choose from the list Copy as HTML link, it adds all the proper tags to it and then you just paste that right into your reply here or where ever you wanted to use it and voila it is a click-able link. This is an example, I am going to provide the link to that add on using that add on to create the link.
Copy as HTML Link

I have turned on so many people to that super easy time saving add on, everyone loves it.
