I have a strange question to ask

I make sambucca cookies every Christmas to bring to work for my co-workers. In the recipe it calls for anise extract or the sambucca liquor, I use the liquor. I know when you cook with alcohol it burns off, and the flavor stays. My question is, could a recovering alcoholic eat one of these cookies? One of my co-workers is a recovering alcoholic and I don't know whether to offer them one or not.
