Keurig coffee makers

Does anyone have one? Do you like it? Do you have the multi cup one or the single one? Do you use the refillable filter Kcup? I know I like the coffee from them just not sure if I want this type of machine.

Friend gave me my single cup Keurig for Christmas, last year. I have the refillable filter KCup. I use my own brand of coffee.

From what I'm told, my model is off the market and they hae a single cup now that you can determine the amt of coffee by the size of the cup/mug. I would rather have one of those NOW.

I just had a post about this, check the link.
I just got mine and I can not use the My-cup filters since my coffee maker is commercial. But I did buy the ez-cup hoping it will work.
I have only bought 1 box of K cups, its the Van Houtte French Vanilla. I don't care for it, its tastes bitter to me. Read the thread for more info.

Annie since it looks like you're taking the plunge (so to speak) here are a couple hints toward success: 1. The grind needs to be finer than drip but not as fine as espresso. Too coarse, the water will drip right through before the few seconds required to steep, too fine and you'll have trouble pushing the plunger. 2. I've found best results with two scoops of coffee and water to the "2" line. One scoop and water to the "1" doesn't steep as well. 3. For the first month of use, I rinsed and reused the filters 2 or three times but I've since decided that I like the speed and efficiency of simply popping it into the trash and getting back to life. I've yet to need a replacement supply of those tiny filters but there are deals out there for when I do. Enjoy. Three minutes per cup ... ... and you have to be out the door on the way to work in 4.5 minutes, right? Buying at BBB - that's "Better Busines Bureau", is it? Or "Beastly Bankrupt Bankers"? Or "Bed, Bath ... and Breadline"? For a mug of home-built coffee - 37.5 cents ... or 47.8 cents, etc. is too rich for my blood. My kids were quite surprised a couple of years ago when Dad sprung for a cappucino. I got a little over 2 lbs. can of the "Good to the last drop" kind a while ago ... for under $5.00, I think. When I opened it, I put it into half a dozen, about 1 lb. jam jars and put the ones that I wasn't using into the freezer - four of 'em still there. I goofed a few years ago - bought about a 4 - 5 cup maker with permanent strainer for about $8.00 at X S Cargo in Edmonton when son and I were up there for nephew's wedding. X S Cargo have low-priced stuff, quite a portion of it refurbished. Within a month I turned it on, then went to add water ... ... and before I got the water going through into the carafe on the heater ... ... I heard a high-pitched "pinggg" ... ... and didn't even need to look at the carafe to know what had happened! Drat! Hard to "refurbish" a cracked coffee carafe! You win a few - you lose a few! Yes, BBB carries the kcups too, Tina. My bf figured out the average $/cup of the keurig vs. regular coffee .. because he's that kind of a guy. I don't remember what they differences were (because I am that kind of woman!).. no, really it depends on what kind of coffee beans you are buying and how strong you make your coffee. I just checked amazon and it has a deal for one of my favorite coffees at $63.96 for 96 pods.. that's $.67 for a cup of coffee if you only use a pod for one cup. Some people do run 2 cups through a pod...making the second cup smaller. If I buy the same coffee beans (Caribou Mahogany) at $9.99/12 oz, I can expect about 50 cups of coffee from the bag (your results.. and mine will vary based on how finely you grind your beans and how strong you make your coffee. I am using the avg reported by Joe Internet) so the cost, on average, for a cup of home brewed coffee is $.20. Yes, that's a big difference.. $.47 per cup; $3.50 a week. However, as Tina mentioned.. it's much cheaper than a cup of coffee from Starbucks, McDonalds or your corner gas station. It also doesn't figure in the waste if you don't finish a pot of coffee (I have waste at times.. sometimes a full cup of coffee or more in the pot. Sometimes I will reheat.. often not). I think that's a valid reason to stick with brewing-- particularly if you brew a less expensive kind of coffee. I also think there's validity in the waste produced with Kcups (though they have made some changes and continue to look at more environmentally-friendly kcups). On the flip side, the simplicity and convenience is undeniable. You want a cup of coffee-- just put a pod in, push the button and dispense. It's always an easy, quick, consistent and good cup of coffee. I don't use the keurig as my daily coffeemaker-- partially because of the number of cups I drink and the amount of waste in the discarded Kcups.. and partially because not ALL of my favorite coffees are available in Kcups. The price wasn't a big consideration-- though it is a valid reason. I don't know what yaya read but I can say my coffees have never been instant--or flavored! Blech... but there are plenty of brands and varieties of kcups so perhaps some are little more than that. Again, the keurig may not be the best option for you-- my own family is split. My sister, SIL and grandmother would fight you for theirs -- the nieces and nephews too because they love that they can make their own hot chocolate! My parents, other sis and I both use regular brewers day-to-day, however my parents use the keurig for holidays and in their motorhome. I use mine in my upstairs office. There is definitely a place for them in some homes and in some lifestyles. Hope the cost and lifestyle summary help some of you evaluate clearly what will work for you!

Glenda posted that a friend had given her one...remember. My husband and I participated in testing the home version when they were still in the making. We used it for a long time but I have several coffee makers and I think the keurig is overpriced and the kcups too expensive. My favorite pot is a 4 cup Mr.Coffee ...I use it almost every morning...it makes probably the best coffee of any maker I have ever had including my most expensive coffee maker and my expresso machine. I know this little 4 cup machine is just a lucky happening as they all probably don't make wonderful coffee...but I won't gripe and I've had it forever. I don't drink enough coffee any more to worry about the cost but I refuse to pay the price for kcups and the keurig coffee maker just because of the principal of it...I think it's a rip off.

I am more interested in the sizes of these machines. Do some have a larger water tank? So I get a second cup quicker?

We love ours, Joann. Ours is the multi cup, the cheapest not the programmable one. I just didn't see a reason for the bells and whistles on that one. There are so many different types of k-cups. Lots of folks love the donut shop coffee but we don't. I love Tree Huggers, my favorite is called Jet Fuel, both are from Coffee People. I get our coffee from coffee.org. I don't care for the EZcup, but it might be that our regular ground coffee just doesn't work well with it.

Mine just does the 8 oz cup with no reservoir. I figured, a six oz isn't worth the bother and 2 more oz isn't gonna make much difference anyway. If you use the k cup the 6 oz might be too strong or the 10 too weak. Its nice to have the option though in case you do want strong or weak. I got mine at such a good price or I would have got the one with different size cups.
Now I was wishing I would have gotten the new tassimo that makes 5-6 different types of coffee. I just saw the commercial the other day.

I posted on the other thread....love mine. I only have one or maybe two cups a day, so the single serve one works just fine. I still get too much water in it all too often, but it only takes a minute or two (while the eyes are becoming aware of the morning) and I can smell (OOOHHHH) it while it is filling the cup. Heaven....in only a minute or two. NANNY

I haven't tried the filter thingy yet....I think I would have to get it ready the night before because I am barely awake when I get my first cup.

I do get mine together the night before, so all I have to do is pour the water and push the button, in the morning.

I think the largest one with a reservoir holds about 60 ounces of water and you have choices of 5 different size cups; mine holds 48 ounces and I have a choice of 3 cup sizes. Even when I have to refill the tank it does heat up quickly again. Mine is the Sam's club version (B66) of the B60 - the difference is that it comes with a large assortment of K-cups.

All my friends and I adore the coffee from The Coffee People, Donut Shop, medium roast decaf. Everyone who has tasted it has commented on how good it tastes - not bitter and not too strong. We've also become tea drinkers witih the English Breakfast Tea (non-decaf).

My husband was very skeptical of using the machine regularly. However, he loves the Ghiradelli hot chocolate - comes in packets, not K-cups. Don't forget you can also use the Keurig to dispense hot water for hot chocolate, cereals or tea bags as well.

I have the single cup one and love it....no more throwing half pots of coffee away or drinking way too much everyday! I use both the k-cups and my own brand. Had it for over a year and it's been great
