We got a new doggie pics

We did! We have wanted a dog for a while but with Evelyn still being so little we were reluctant to get a puppy. Too much work right now! We contacted a border terrier breeder (after reading up on them and decided that they had exactly the qualities that we wanted) and asked about their breeding program. We thought that maybe in six months it would be a little more manageable. They weren't planning a litter anytime soon, but they had a nine year old female that was retired from their breeding program and would we like to see pictures of her? Of course after we saw the pictures we were done! LOL We picked her up last Sunday and all we had to do was pay for her spay. They just wanted her to go to a good home. We are doing our best to provide that!

We all just love her! She is so gentle and loveable and is just the right size for us! She walks great on a leash, doesn't have accidents in the house and is so CALM. I may never want a puppy again! Here are some pictures of her. Her name is Solo. I know, but she came with it. :)

She's adorable! She looks like she's settled in quite nicely and quite at home on her blanket. She looks similar to a Jack Russell, does she have some of that in her? She's obviously not as hyper and energetic as they are. Congratulations!

Wow... I was just wishing I had an area to plant... I'm full up plus some. This will all be anecdotal - best guess... Night Before Christmas - bright shade, then afternoon sun? best guess, no... put it in more shade. Of your list, plants pretty tolerant of sun.... I know So Sweet, Fragrant Bouquet, Orange Marmalade, Aphrodite, Paul's Glory are all pretty good in some sun. FB and A are the two most sun tolerant, in my experience. Sum and Substance needs some sun to get its best color... and some years an actual metallic gold kind of sheen. On the other hand, a little too much and it gets scorched. And all of the sun tolerance thoughts are predicated on how much moisture is available. If you keep them deep watered, even some that don't like the placement initially will come back the next year and be just fine after adjusting. They might stay a little smaller, and their leaves might be a little smaller... but they seem to adjust.

Well thank you! Pattycakes, the bathroom tiles are ceramic. I've seen a similar treatment in peel and stick, though, and it's just beautiful. In fact, Georgiagal has black and white peel and stick in her laundry room. Beautiful! Annaclaire, I did all of it....with MUCH help from the Home Decorating forum. (I swear there's hidden genius on that forum.) Poodledoodle, yes the cabinets are white (cream, actually) with a glaze. We painted them, then went back and glazed. To glaze, I slathered the glaze into the corners and crevices, then gently wiped it off. For the broad surfaces, I used an old paintbrush, and did long strokes, then again just gently wiped it off. The glazing process is more of a glaze removal thing than an application thing. Again, the bathroom tiles are ceramic. I must have some hang up for checkerboard patterns! Downsouth, we're moving (only about 1/4 mile away) because we need extra space, and wanted a larger pool. We bought a house that I'd been eyeballing for close to 2 years. It needs to be completely redone, so I'll have fun sprucing it up and giving it some style. The paint color is Benjamin Moore "Spice Gold". It's one of my very favorite colors, as it's a deep, rich color, but not too dark, and it's very neutral. It only took me having to paint the dadblamed kitchen 11 times before I found that color!

OMG!!! So cute! I appreciate all the rescued lovers you guys have given great homes to. I recently rescued three dogs ( I new I was in for it with three, but I'm crazy) About 2 hours away from me, their was an animal hoarding house that got busted. My sister is involved with animal rescue in the area, and asked if I could adopt, or at least foster 3 puppies that were sick, and were in risk of euthanasia. So I picked them up same day. I am in love, and decided to keep them all. Needlessly to say, the vets have been like a second home in the last few months. This is lil guy is LeoThos is Rolloand this guy is Haakon. Yes, I admit. I get pics of my dogs, and frame them like family. *I hope I posted the pics right* But as far as what other animals those horrible people were breeding, I think Leo and Rollo are chihuahuas. Haakon, is supposedly a Japanese chin that we think is mixed with shih tzu. But we will never truly know.

No Jasdip, she's a pure Border Terrier. She was one of their breeding females but they retire them at eight years old.

She is cute and scruffy! Her fur is actually pretty wiry, but still soft. Her ears are velvety.

Solo is beautiful and so is her name. Bless you for giving her a home and many years of love. There is nothing like a older rescued dog, that's what we do now.

Sorry, I have no use for people who only use dogs for making money, can you imagine what those little females lives are like for 8 or 9 years, makes me ill to think about it. Give little Solo a big hug from me please!!!

Oh another thing when they are spayed later in life mammary cancer can happen, that's what happened to our little Tater Tot who was used for breeding for 6.5 years.
She lived to be 11.5 and was treated like a Queen after we got her. I loved her dearly and still do.

Don't mean to alarm you, but another reason I dislike breeders, they are not concerned about the little females future.

Solo is just too cute. Our best dog was a rescue dog. Don't know if I will get over her passing. Keep us posted about her.

That is so sad that she spent 9 years with people who gained so little attachment to her for anything other than breeding purposes. I know she'll get a lot of love in your house. Give her a big hug from me too.

Ahhhhh,

My mom has a Border Terrier mix (Ruby) and we just LOVE her! She is the best darn dog. So smart and sweet. I really can't say enough good things about her. If we ever decide we can handle four more feet in our little home, that is exactly what I want.

Oh, I've given the wrong impression of her previous owners! They had actually only had her for two years. They got her from other breeders in Ontario. Solo had one litter with them and then was retired. They don't actually have that many dogs. It broke their hearts to give up Solo as they LOVED her to pieces, however they moved last weekend into a city where the by-laws are different. They were only allowed to have a certain number of dogs and so they had to give one up. After they gave Solo into our keeping, and they took pictures with her and gave her a farewell pat, they beat a hasty retreat. I could see how upset they were and I'm sure it was because they didn't want to weep in front of us. She was extremely well taken care of and they gave me reams of information on her habits and likes and dislikes. This was a well-loved dog and I can see why. She is the gentlest dog I've ever seen. Evelyn gives her treats (with my careful supervision) and she carefully nibbles it out of her hand. Of course, she musn't upset her gravy train as Evelyn tosses food off of her highchair tray and almost into Solo's waiting mouth. LOL

I appreciate everyone being so worried about Solo's situation. I just wanted to let you know the truth of it. The previous owners have actually given up breeding entirely because they just couldn't devote the time to it anymore that it deserved. That's pretty commendable, in my opinion.
