What's for dinner Saturday?

We're having tomato-basil soup and grilled cheese sandwiches on roasted garlic Italian bread. It's a dreary, chilly day here.

Then we're going to sit back and watch the LSU-Alabama game. It doesn't start until 8 our time, so I hope it's exciting enough to keep me awake! :-)

I was not very hungry so I just had a peanut butter sandwich and a glass of milk. I may eat an apple in a bit. Your supper sounds really good Patti.

Jason's Deli for scoop of tuna and crackers, THEN went next door for Fresh Market's Thanksgiving sampling. I did good, only had a pecan pie sample.

No dinner tonight. We went to a birthday brunch, ate too much, and have been dragging around all day. Neither one of us are used to eating heavily at 10:30 in the morning. Left there and went to Costco since we were close, Fred Meyer (there isn't one here locally) then home and had company for a while. Brunch was at a casino. The food is good, I had bacon and tomato omelet, more. And I did gamble a little before we left. I had almost lost my $20, won it back so played some more (slots) and that time I did lose it. DH lost his $5 on a penny machine and quit :) We're not gamblers, and I must say, its a lot more fun when I can break even or win a little. My SIL had begun with $200 and was up to almost $700 in winnings when we left, she has more disposable income than I feel I do.

I must not be "normal"....I've had some wicked chills all day so it was leftover lentil soup for me. Robert went out to pick up a takeout order from a nearby Mexican restaurant.

Yes, nasty wet snow out, probably got 6 inches on top of what we had already. I don't have to get out so it doesn't bother me. I was looking for my two big muffin pans, they each hold 24 and in the process started cleaning on my pantry. I did find the pans and will use them Tuesday for my rolls I have to bake. Supper was more of the leftover potato soup and I made a new pie dough and baked a little of it and am putting instant vanilla pudding over it and will try that. I liked the crust. Thanks, Terri. No wonder you don't feel like cooking after all that baking and cooking your did over the holidays. I hope you're just tired and not coming down with something. (Fingers crossed!) Thanks, Pam. The only thing that happened was I got that cold/sore throat that's going around, but with my compromised immune system (whatever that means), it knocked me for a loop and I spent over 2 weeks in bed--half the time barely able to drink due to the sore throat. It sure feels good to feel half way decent!! I'm sure sorry about your sister and it must be hard on you taking care of her when you aren't used to it. So nice of your DH to be helping you out--a lot of men wouldn't. Enjoy the French toast! Hi, Mary--thank you. I haven't seen you posting much lately and was hoping you are feeling okay. I sure don't envy you that 22 degree weather. Ick! I think I have meatballs in the freezer i made earlier. I'll have to check. Shirley, thank you. Just this minute finished an omelette with toast and am having tea.

I've not eaten much today so waiting for hubby to get home to take me out to eat! We need to get some groceries so we will get something somewhere along the way.

I jist had some red grapes.
Earlier DS and I stopped at Cracker Barrel I had my Chicken tenderloins (grilled) with sweet baby carrots and coleslaw and passed th dish of corn over to DS he had a gigantic house salad. Along with bisquit. Pretty much filled up right now gave him a few pieces of chicken since they give you so much

Sorry you're not feeling well, jasdip. Hope you feel a little better tomorrow. We had tortellini with marinara sauce and some freshly grated parmesan with a small salad. Yesterday when I was grocery shopping I almost picked up a jar of marinara for a shortcut but I couldn't bring myself to doing it. So glad I didn't. The tomato basil soup and grilled cheese sounds yummy to me.

We will be heading out in the motor home in about a week so I am cooking things to freeze for Bobby and also take along with us.

Today I made a crockpot full of chili as requested by Bobby. Will be making some cornbread in a minute. It sure smells good in here.

SheilaJoyce, this is the pigs in a blanket with cabbage and hamburger,tomato soup, not the smokies or hot dogs in crescent rolls. Are you still interested I can put it on here? Just asking because so many people think of hot dogs wrapped with rolls as pigs in a blanket.

Nodakgal, please post your piggies casserole. My immediate thought/reaction was the wienies in crescent rolls, and since it's not I'm interested!

Thanks Georgysmom. Don't know why I got to not feeling well. Made bread this morning and have been on the couch ever since.
Ate my omelette and then felt nauseous again. Off to bed now.
Hmm spellcheck wants me to change omelette to Flannelette. Don't think I'd be eating that.

Oh I love that Connie! I've never used tomato soup tho, but that is a great idea!!! We call it Lazy Man's Pigs! LOL!!!

Pig's In A Blanket Casserole
1 1/2 lbs ground beef
5 to 6 cups raw cabbage, cut up
1 onion
salt and pepper to taste
1 can tomato soup
Fry onion and hamburger til done/ Put half in casserole, top with half the cut up cabbage then more hamburger and top with the rest of cabbage. Mix tomato soup with one can water. Pour over cabbage and bake in 350 degree oven for about 1.5 hours. When half done, stir and continue baking.
** I add about a 1/4 cup of white rice and also some V-8 juice for extra liquid** Today I threw it all in the crockpot.

Boneless, skinless chicken breasts with onion, garlic and fine herbs over brown rice, baked in a casserole dish, plus corn on the cob. Tapioca pudding for dessert. On the beige side, viusally, but tasty.
