Dixieboy, I'm guessing that pic was meant to go in the other thread? LOL ;) It is a beautiful tree alright. I don't see very many of them with moss since they usually like the drier areas. There's plenty of longleaf forests in my area, it's neat to see the fire go through them and then see them green back up in the spring, especially when there is saw palmetto in the understory. Much of the old growth longleaf was cut and replaced with loblolly around here, but I notice lately that many landowners are going back to longleaf since it's resistant to pine beetles and rust. Here's a controlled burn in a young stand. Notice some of them were leaned over by hurricane Ivan but still continued to grow.

Depending on the manufacturer, shipping from NC can be very inexpensive. When I purchased my LR and DR furniture two years ago, the shipping was based on the cost of my order, not the weight. I was surprised, but was told that was the was a deal the retailer had with the manufacturer at the time. I did not find that the shipping charges really put much of a dent in my overall savings. The latest change towards collecting state sales tax is a bigger issue, in my opinion. Nevertheless, I still find shopping for furniture in NC to be much more economical than shopping locally here in NY.

LOL, Lydia, there is ALWAYS misbehaving going on here! Patti43, yes we are camping. We have landed in Four Oaks for a couple of days. We went to Bentonville Battlefield this afternoon, after we got parked. Then came back, had supper, (thank goodness I froze some main dishes before we left home!), then went and did a couple loads of laundry. We didn't bring enough hot weather clothes! We'll take the truck and go to Wilmington tomorrow to see what kind of trouble we can get into. I've managed to find one yarn shop, and two or three bead shops along the way, and of course, had to buy! We went to a place yesterday that we could "mine" for gems. We bought "seeded" buckets and dumped them in the screens in the sluice trough. We are having a tiger eye cut into a fabachon, faceted on one side, the other side a cabachon. And an amethyst cut into a cabachon. Pricey for the quality of the gems, but a nice souvenier that I can make into either earrings or necklaces. Tami

moccasin - those are some nice lights! i can see why you like them. I bet they're more than 20-30 $s each tho... I loved that the globes come in colors... I'd stay away from the red tho. OTOH that could be good for an emergency signal to a neighbor. I'm too poor to pay much for the lights - even if I find a SWern one i like it's sure to be more than 30.00 and I think I should limit it to that. I need 3 - plus a few (plus) inside need replaced based on they are UGLY. I found these 2 at lowe's. both plain but would do the job - cheaply. it'll probably be the first one unless I find something better for the price in the store. around 25.00 with clean lines. I'd have to see how my chubby little fingers fit for changing the bulb. it's better I don't have to mess with those little screws and chance dropping the globe since things seems to jump out of my hands. I remember changing bulbs in the screw on globe type yrs ago. max wattage is 100w this one is about 21.00. I like it, again clean, simple lines - this one has a frosted globe. has the little screws tho and max wattage is 60w.
