Do you wish Thanksgiving weren't over yet?

I remember being so happy the day of, before the festivities started, but after dinner wishing I could go straight home and nap or, if it was at my house, they would all go home so I could have quiet time!

I worked so I ate the "free" turkey dinner they served, there was nothing "free" about it, my stomach is still paying for it!

I am working tonight but that will be it for me and then 4 glorious days off. I am, personally, glad that one holiday is down, 2 to go for the year.

At our house Thanksgiving ain't over till all the turkey is gone, and given that it is just Jan & I to handle a 18lb turkey,,,its gonna be a long Thanksgiving this year....LOL

Yes, I wish it wasn't over so I could change my menu and have turkey instead of those dumb Cornish game hens.

LOL, Lazypup, your holidays are gonna all blend together into one big turkey month!!

Poor Michelle, I hope you don't have to work Christmas. If so, don't eat until AFTER work. ;-)

That cake looks FANTASTIC! YUM! I've been cooking up a storm. I never know if we'll have 2 or 3 or 20. Usually the odd drop-ins all day when our friends figure out who's got the food! I stuffed a pumpkin with lentils, wild rice, amaranth, toasted pecans and dry cranberries and roasted it almost all the way, made pumpkin pie, baked sweet potatoes and regular potatoes and the regular get mashed tomorrow, made a salad of tomatoes and will pick arugula for it tomorrow, roasted carrots, beets and creamed the beet greens. Tomorrow I finish off the corn bread. We are also going to hang mini bagels with bird seed for the birds and probably begin baking holiday cookies tomorrow if people drop in and decide to bake. I dried herbs all this week to begin making herbal holiday cookies, teas and treats!

I have a question? Would anyone change their opinion on this if it was grandma and not SM? If dad left his kids with his parents during his scheduled time? and if that's okay, why? What if he left the kids with someone else... related or not, would that change anyone's opinion? One of the problems our attorney discussed with us is, when you stray from the written order, it may set precedent. If the order says every other weekend but the CP lets the NCP take the child every other week for an extended period, where the kids become accustom to that, then the courts would not necessarily side with mom if she were to get pissed off at dad and try to cut him back to EOW. He'd stand a better chance of getting the court to give him every other week. Depending on the age of the child, their wishes should be considered as well. If she has developed a close relationship with SM because she has been allowed to visit when dad is away, it is unfair for her to not be allowed to if she wants to spend time there. Likewise, it's wrong for SM to put a guilt trip on the child too. It really sounds as if the child is stuck in the middle and no matter what she chooses to do, one of the 'moms' in her life is going to be unhappy and she'll feel like they will be upset with her. That's a lot of pressure for a kid. Honestly, if it's possible for you and your ex to talk it over... I would try to disregard the first phone call he made when he threatened court and a custody fight and try to start over when you are both calm. He was probably upset because his wife was upset, not a good time for him to call you. This is your child so he should discuss this with you and work it out without his wife. I know it's a lot easier said than done and I don't know if your ex would be willing to discuss it with you, but it's an idea. It sounds like you have been reasonable and giving so I have to assume he was just angry when he called and that for the most part, you get along.

Arabellamiller, We are having tryouts Monday for our 10U Mustangs; if you are in the area come on over :) Ellen, The Nationals were in Huntington Beach, since we qualified early in the season, I had months to think about going to CA and visiting you and Jessy between games. Thanksgiving OK then today a 3year old great granddaughter's birthday and then tomorrow, more shopping, then Dr's appts, more shopping
Sometimes I wish I was not retired so I could go back to work to get some rest and my stuff done.
I truthfully don't understand how us seniors can be bored with nothing to do.

No.
I cooked a big dinner, 21 lb turkey, homemade stuffing, baked pies. Set the table with Thanksgiving tablecloth, good dishes and glassware...then hand washed dinnerware afterwards.
Packed up as much leftovers as they could carry, and sat down in my chair happy.

I love the holidays with family, and do the same(dinner, etc) for them all.

I'm glad Thanksgiving is over...'cause it's time to get ready for Christmas.

I've had turkey leftovers twice since Thanksgiving, and there's still more in the fridge. Well I could use it for dog food... My DD age 23 has a job in a "teenybopper" dress shop in a local mall. She had to be at work midnight Thanksgiving, came home the next morning at 10 cranky and tired. On top of that, she has to wear clothes from the store while working, and they don't give her a "uniform" allowance, so she bought the clothes herself. And, because she just started, she didn't get a paycheck saturday like the other salespeople. I had to lend her $60 till her next payday.

I wish it had been longer and that I had remembered a few things I forgot to feed or show them! Gone until after Christmas and by then I will probably forget again......

Not looking forward to going back to work after 4 lovely days off. One of which I literally just stayed in my jammies all day!

Well, since I got one whole day off... I guess, I could say I wish it wasn't over yet. But, honest, I am ok with that too. I had a day off, with pay. How great was that??? :)

Oh no. I had a sort of hectic time. And Thanksgiving's always been my favorite holiday. I'm optimistic Christmas will make up for it, though. We will see...

No, I'm glad it's over. I basically spent it alone, until the evenings. DH and "the boys" were hunting all day. I was on call and so glad I didn't get called in while cooking the turkey. Then I had to feed them all for a couple days--they left Saturday night. The kids couldn't make it home. DS in UW-Madison band and they had a game Saturday and needed to be in Madison on Friday for practice, so they went to Gram's for dinner.

I am so looking forward to Christmas, though. My whole family is coming on Friday and staying til Tuesday. Even though I will be on call, at least I'll have a bunch of people to celebrate with.

I wish I could say I was looking forward to Christmas. I just wish it was spring. (Sorry, but this has been a tough year since we lost our precious dog Sam and then my mom 3 months later - both to cancer).
Hubby and I went out to Virginia and out eat at Thanksgiving because I didn't want to stay here in PA and face family without Mom. Just too hard...
